On the positive side - the territory is green, although the hotel is large - but all the main places (pool, restaurants, beach) are nearby. the first floor is damp, and the gazebo on the lawn does not have time to dry out after the rains. I liked the excursion to the island of Saona (Caribbean Sea) and the helicopter flight. I was pleased with the bartender by the pool - he prepared delicious cocktails, he never refused us anything, he served us quickly. It’s not worth counting on purchases - apart from rum and cigars, there’s really nothing else to take (well, except for fridge magnets : )) At the same time, you must definitely calculate the weight of luggage - 20 kg and not a gram more... For each extra kg, they will bill 35 dollars . . that's why the rum you bought will be golden for you. . . I think that once is enough for such a trip!
Flight
Transaero surprised - delicious food. Probably, due to numerous complaints, the green omelet and it is not clear what the ravioli are made of have gone into oblivion. There - premium economy - well, slept well, flew almost a cucumber. There were only economy tickets back - it's just tin! (considering that a new modification of 777 -200 ep arrived with very decent economy seats). After the flight back, I broke my own sleep record - I slept 18 (!!!!! ) hours in a row, I was so exhausted. Do not save on your health, if possible - take a premium or business!
Hotel (I will compare with Melia along the way):
Arrival - they waited until they took us to the room and took the luggage for about 40 minutes (mind you - this is a luxury hotel?! ). Then they spat and went to look for the room with the bags themselves.
The food is a meager and monotonous buffet, a lot of salty food. (In Melia it was delicious, varied and surprised with interesting dishes every day). Soups - only in the evening, a choice of 2, absolutely oversalted soups (in Melia, there were 3 soups to choose from for breakfast, lunch, dinner). After visiting the restaurant, I wanted to run to Melia to have a delicious meal. Perhaps such a lack of diversity of the buffet is due to savings, because a la carte restaurants are open for dinner, which are visited daily for free, without an appointment and without hindrance (it was not a season, so the system "one visit for free, the rest for a fee" did not work). Be sure to check this point so that you don’t have to pay later on repeated visits! (when there is a "season")
The territory is magnificent, without pretensions.
The beach is a large strip, cleanliness, beauty, there are always free sunbeds. Newans - the ocean is not for children - always waves. (In Melia, the Pacific Ocean and absolutely clear water, which is especially important for children and people like me who do not swim well)
Swimming pools - don't believe it if you read "4" in the brochure. Really - 1 pool for all. Small pool at Spa. The remaining 2 are not allowed into the Royal Service, where ordinary Luxovites are not allowed.
Service
We lived at the Lux Hotel for a week without soap and shampoos (it’s good that we had them with us). Then, they were honored, they brought it. In a double room, one bathrobe hangs and one umbrella costs (moreover, there were unending tropical showers for 5 days; well, that they took an umbrella with them). There is an ashtray in the room - there are no matches - go look where you want. You will say that I find fault with trifles, but I must pay attention to this, because the price for a hotel tour is high. In Melia, the room was fully equipped, did not encounter any domestic problems. It’s even somehow inconvenient at the Lux Hotel to go to the reception and beg - give a bar of soap, give a shower gel to wash, give an umbrella, give matches.......
Three days in the "Lux Hotel" could not change dirty beach towels. They came at 11 in the morning - there was nothing, "come tomorrow, they tell us, 9 in the morning. " Maybe in the "luxury hotel" I can get in line for a towel at 7 am, no, better at 6 am? So, even on my vacation I don’t have the right to sleep until 10 o’clock? I haven’t met such a person in any, even naked, Turkish five in the last 7 years.
Excursions-
Saona - my husband went all day on the road and 3 hours on the beach. tired as a dog. He said that the water in Saona is the same as in Melia.
Eco-tour - can be for fun, but most of the tour takes place in a truck ride. ATTENTION!!! ! YOU WILL BE OFFERED TO BUY A HOME-MADE MAMAKHUANA, OF COURSE THE "BEST". BOUGHT IT, IT turned out to be rotten! THERE THERE WE BUY "THE BEST COCOA IN THE WHOLE DOMINICAN" __- such crap, I'm sorry, I'm thinking of throwing it away.
MANATHI PARK - everything seems to be nothing, but as soon as you enter the territory, you are occupied by merchants, they do not give you rest at all. They don't let you walk! Tired of them terribly. The show with parrots and horses is a sweet little thing.
Helicopter tour 10 minutes - I liked it, very beautiful.
SOUTHERN CROSS GUIDES TATIANA AND ALEXANDER
It's just a "song". When problems arose, they told us "We can't help you with anything, because we don't have much to do with the southern cross - we just hold signs and sell excursions. " What is it like to hear in a foreign country, speaking only Russian and a minimum of English, from your guides? Tried to only vtyuhat excursions and then disappeared forever. It's good that the hotel has a representative of the capital tour Alexander from 9 to 17. He dealt with our problems, although we had nothing to do with him. The point, of course, is not the operator - in Melia we were very pleased with the guide Natalia from the southern cross - she helped in everything. Just the human factor.
TOTAL
I am very picky in choosing a hotel, I have been traveling for 7 years in different countries. Well, there is nothing luxurious! In the Dominican Republic, you can relax for less money and no worse. Really sorry for the money! Paid for nothing! If money is not a pity - forward! The only plus point of the hotel is that there are not too many people.
