In general, we unpacked our things and went to look for food and drinks. The hotel is big, it's dark outside. You won’t understand where to go right away, but we found a canteen. At the entrance, the girl asks to wear a mask. The food in the hotel is ok. There is beef, chicken, pork, burger patties, various vegetables, salads, sauces, dressings, several types of cheese, even dor blue, sausages, ham, food for vegans and diabetics, a lot of sweets, cakes, pastries, desserts, ice cream, yogurts , in the morning scrambled eggs and omelettes, pancakes, pancakes, faffles. Buns, white, gray, black bread, toast and much more. From seafood, mainly mussels, squids, fried fish. There were also lobsters a couple of times. There were never any shrimp. From fruits you can eat oranges, papaya, pineapple, the rest is not ripe, but there were also mangoes, melons, watermelon, tangerines. In the mornings, in addition to coffee and cocoa, there is champagne in ice buckets and Bloody Mary kits. The waiters can bring any drink from the bar or you can go and get it yourself.
In a la carte restaurants, there is a live queue not by appointment - wait at least an hour to get in.
Alcohol in the hotel is good. All drinks from branded bottles. For additional only drinks over 12 years old. In general, they drank a lot, did not get sick. Everything is delicious and good. The best cocktails at the bar where the reception. The beach bar is run by racists. Russians are poured badly and reluctantly. They smile at their own and the Americans and pour normally.
Generally about the staff. Get ready, who will go, that you will encounter a lack of understanding of the Russian language, in places with a boorish attitude. We decided to go to a la carte with my wife, we came and took a queue, we sit waiting, after 20 minutes two American "barges" came and also sat down to wait. So, after sitting for 1 hour and 20 minutes, and as the turn had already reached us, the employee at the entrance invited American women to the restaurant, and she pretended not to see us. To my indignation that it was our turn and they came later, she simply dismissed it. The mood was spoiled. Golf carts also drive around the territory and carry tourists, so I wanted to drive a couple of times and also pretended that they didn’t hear me.
There is no snack bar. So if you want to have a snack between breakfast, lunch or dinner, then there is nothing to do. Only drink. They won't let you take something out of the restaurant on a plate. This is for Privelegie, and you can use your hands or napkins.
The beach line is small, there are some barrels in the sea, such as breakwaters. The waves are cool, the water is warm, there were almost no algae. There were enough sun loungers.
Two large pools, there are a lot of sun loungers around them, but only a part with umbrellas. So, if you don't have time, then burn as you want.
There are no lifeguards on the beach and pools. No one!!! ! On the beach, bartenders raise and lower the flag. In the mornings and evenings there is a security guard on the beach, but he is in uniform and will not help you in the sea.
The area as a whole is not bad, beautiful. Ponds, fish, birds, turtles, flamingos, storks, cats. Everyone can be fed.
Animation is designed for local or Spanish speakers. During the day, so-so, a couple of people walk around with a column. In the evenings it is more interesting, competitions, dances, shows. At night, even the lanterns do not burn on the territory. We went on a tour at 5:30 in the morning, so we barely got to the reception, at least gouge out our eyes. No lunchbox for you.
Will I come back here… No. Let them first teach their staff politeness, tact and attentiveness.
I chose the hotel quickly and at random. Only after booking I read the reviews ...thought a bit, remembered how a travel agent offered another hotel)
1. Flight 11.5 hours. Azur Airlines plane, it is better to call a minibus for 324 passengers. Tight, uncomfortable, the plane is definitely my age) Fed immediately after takeoff and 2 years before landing. So get ready to buy tea for 2 euros from a flight attendant. It is especially difficult for 1-year-old children to carry the flight (and there are enough parents who have such small children), so you won't be able to sleep much. On the good side: the flight was not delayed, so even 1 year earlier arrived. And the flight went well without excesses.
2. Transfer to the hotel. Here everything is approx. Timely and comfortable.
3. Finally, the hotel itself:
At the reception - greeted warmly. A little English, a little broken Russian, and we were immediately settled.
The room is spacious, with beautiful views, with USB sockets.
We liked it)
Food. Very diverse. Many dishes are prepared from under a knife. In addition to the main restaurant, we often went to a restaurant by the ocean. The landscape is simply incredible! Coffee shop Michaels also made a positive impression. In the evening we visited a la carte restaurants. There were a few queues.
The hotel area is huge, well-groomed, a million great photo areas.
Large pools
The ocean is always beautiful! Warm, clean, often restless. The waves were daily. We liked it, although it would not suit the kids.
And from the shoreline, has some nuances. Blurred shore. It is obvious that they are trying to strengthen it, set up obstacles, but the overall landscape is a bit spoiled. But there was enough space for everyone.
From what we didn't like very much, and spoiled all our "mania" (relaxation) - this is aggressive marketing Aneksturivtsi. Very obsessively offered tours, free transfer to the gift shop (only in them and only today).
Tourists shied away from them, tourists avoided them. told that annexes are so-so everywhere, this is their policy.
They even invent all sorts of tricks to undress the tourist. Offer seats on the plane next to extra in. at. , motivating that at the airport of La Romani passengers are seated Ramdomno Lie. They put everyone next to each other. No family on board was separated without additional payment. A group transfer from the hotel can be arranged 5 years before departure. taxi driver such a service costs 30 at.
Now about the good.
I really liked the general atmosphere of the hotel. Animation, shows and entertainment. Especially Spanish dances. At first I was a little careful. Then a couple of glasses of champagne, and also "learned" to dance. Meringue, father. salsa ...it was great!
I did not notice any discrimination. the staff is always gentle and friendly. The hotel staff clearly follows the rules. If you like to break them - you will be discriminated against)
In fact, Russian tourists have sometimes been criticized for wearing masks. If the mask is worn incorrectly, the Dominicans did not serve. The locals, Americans, Europeans, had no problem wearing the mask, they all wore it and put it on their noses.
Once, a Russian tourist (a little under the chauffeur) caused a scandal because he did not want to wear a mask and was not allowed into the restaurant. He also called it discrimination). But this is an isolated case, in general the atmosphere is friendly.
I liked the tours, incredible scenery, national flavor.
The hotel did not disappoint. You can find a few minor flaws, but in general we had a great rest.
The food is very decent, thematic restaurants have diversified it. Great coffee and smoothie variations at Mike's. Among the cocktail bars, by far the best in the lobby, then by the pool. Special cocktails are made in the evening near themed restaurants - near Mexican 2 awesome variations of Margarita, Italian - 4 variations on the theme of gin and tonic (in huge glasses). On the beach and in the sea restaurant they don't try so hard. Animation norms, bowling and billiards worked. For lovers of diving - there is something to see on the reef, especially to the left of the hotel, if you are not lazy. Beautiful large shells, rather shy fish (you need to dive and look under coral stones), soft corals, starfish. I was very surprised by a decent number of lobster lobsters, because I had gloves, I even caught a couple. True, I had to let go - the price tag was raised for cooking at the hotel - after all, this is food of "unknown origin".
The beach is safe - there is security, local sellers are afraid to approach the sun loungers, do not bother, modestly wait at the water's edge for a couple of minutes for someone to show interest, and leave. If you walk from the hotel to the right along the beach for 5-7 minutes, you will see a bunch of 3 beach shops. The assortment is similar to the vaunted Russian store (Ola souvenir), only you can bargain. In the first one, 2 women don't speak Russian, but give a very good price, especially if there are several items and bargain with a smile.
If you want to bring home the standard, such as coffee, chocolate balls and sets, as well as rum and Mama Juana, then the best price is in the supermarket in Sanat Domingo (on a tour, in your free time). Also a good price for rum was in duty free on departure (La Romana), especially for 2 in 1 gift boxes - Brugal from $20 for 2! bottles of 0.7. Of the shortcomings of the hotel - it is difficult to wait for the mini-bar to be replenished (should be daily), and canned beer is not bad there. The easiest way to decide - if you go to the room in the middle of the day (from 11 to 14) - look around. You will see a cart with beer and water - ask the employee to give you a mini-bar - we got as much as we wanted. The final assessment - the hotel is worthy, the desire to return to it next time causes.
Goldfish swim, herons chase after them, and turtles swim in the water.
Very tasty food. I liked that there were 5 Alacarte restaurants, each with its own cuisine. The Asian restaurant was very impressive with the show from the chef. The only thing is that not all restaurants got into it because they have a waiting list and sometimes rely on it. You come to a restaurant, and they tell you that today there is a long waiting list and you can’t get in. However, it is not possible to reserve a restaurant in advance.
In any case, the main restaurant has very tasty food, all in sections, fish menu, steaks, oriental menu, Italian cuisine, sushi, a lot of fruits... gluttons)
The beach is very beautiful. The water is incredible. The cocktails are delicious.
The children liked the Spanish lesson))) We were lucky that the hotel was about 30% full, there was a feeling that there were 100 people in the hotel and it was very comfortable. Show program in the hotel in the evenings, the animation is cool. I liked that there is a bowling alley, billiards.
The only moment with the number is the noise from the transformer box. We realized that this noise was not from the air conditioner, but from the booth only on the 3rd day. They no longer wanted to change the number and waste time moving. Although the hotel said they were ready to change, in which case they were asked to inform. The staff does not ask for money. Animation not sticky as in Egypt. The staff is very very responsive and responsive.
In terms of covid, everything is organized at the highest level. Everywhere masks, gloves, they strictly monitor that they are wearing masks and gloves, and even in the restaurant they give out gloves so that everything is clear. All measures are observed and employees on the beaches are wearing masks, if you approach the bar, then in a mask.
I repeat for the sake of completeness:
What should be warned about “the hotel is normal, sockets all need an adapter, there is no reception, everyone is forced to go buy somewhere nearby; there is no kettle in the room; there is a non-working coffee maker)))”
Honest review.
Arrived at La Romana airport (13 hours of summer), transfer to the hotel (1.5 hours).
Settlement: Registration at the hotel did not take much time. They put on bracelets and issued cards for towels and a card with a room number and a password for WI-FI, but the room was said not yet ready, since the settlement was at 15:00. OK! Went to get acquainted with the hotel, beach infrastructure)
At 15:00 the room is not ready! After a nice conversation with the girl at the reception (a smile does wonders)) we quickly changed the room number on the card and we went to the room. (having previously told the new porter number at the entrance so that our luggage was delivered there)
Number: apparently we were lucky and we were settled in a spacious room designed for a larger number of residents with a great view!
The room was clean enough as it is possible in hotels of this level.
There were all the necessary accessories and even more)
A large number of care products including mouthwash.
(Shower gels, shampoo, disposable razors, sticks, sponges, toothbrushes with paste, etc. )
Pleased with the presence of a clean bath with jacuzzi)
The room had a good electronically controlled safe.
Ironing board.
Instead of an iron, there was a steam generator (at first we didn’t even understand why the air humidity was already high)
Refrigerator with daily replenishment (water, cola, sprite, mirinda and beer - all two each)
Flat TV without Russian channels and usb connectivity!
Hdmi only (so our movie drive had to be put in a suitcase).
The TV was no longer turned on.
If it is important for someone, then you could use smart TV set-top boxes, since the Internet is good throughout the room and the beach (but we forgot the micro TV at home).
We were also delighted with the presence of a coffee maker, but as it turned out, in vain!
A drip-type coffee maker is not at all suitable for making normal coffee (it turned out some kind of warm brown water), although some people like it))
Territory: it makes no sense to write a lot here. The area is beautiful and well maintained. A mini electric train runs for the very lazy)
Excellent two large pools and a pool with jacuzzi. (Oh, and they all love hot tubs)
Restaurants: I think there are nine restaurants on the territory (two All + 7 a la carte)
A la carte must be booked on the day of the visit from 9:00 (a room opposite the reception)
French, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, American steak, etc.
And in the center there is a great coffee shop that brews delicious coffee.
(I advise you to take Irish with whiskey or Caribbean with rum)
Of the seven restaurants, only two were
In Japanese and Italian.
In Japanese there was not a big show with food, but I don’t advise you to wear good things there, as you will be offered to catch food thrown by the cook with your mouth and in case of a miss, the fat shrimp will get on your clothes)))
There are also a lot of bars, but the bar in the pool itself did not work.
There was a bar on the beach, near the pool, a bar at the reception, a bar in the main restaurant and the Marina restaurant near the beach.
Meals: One of the best in hotels of this level and even higher level according to neighbors from other hotels!
There is a lot of everything and everything is quite tasty.
You can eat smoked salmon for breakfast, jamon and blue cheese for lunch))
Everyone will find food to their taste, including a small bar with "healthy" food without salt)
The waiters, like everyone else in the Dominican Republic, are not hurried people, and sometimes you had to wait for wine or salt and pepper. By the way, the pepper in the pepper pots is something incomprehensible, more like finely ground rubbish))
But dry red wine is even very, very (in front of you, they defiantly open it, showing their professionalism in opening bottles in the hope of getting a tip)).
As for tipping, it's up to you.
But this does not particularly affect the service in the future. Not a dollar, not five, not ten, but how lucky.
Back to food. )
Meat fried stew boiled.
Fried fish stew boiled (fish soup was not bad)
Sea food: shrimps, mussels, scallops, both whole and salads from them.
Various side dishes including sycamore (banana) cooked in different ways.
Fruits: bananas passion fruit carom papaya melon mango pineapple, etc.
Separately, I note pineapples - very sweet and juicy!!!
Beach: The beach itself is not big.
Divided into two parts, on one side of the beach bar "Privilege" zone and on the other side for "Everyone else")).
But it didn't cause any inconvenience. Every morning, apparently, a tractor or something similar cleaned the coastline from algae. Therefore, this line was quite clean.
What a stretch could be said about the rest of the beach. And since the people here are not in a hurry, it was possible for several days in a row to observe the same plates and glasses after a meal lying under the sunbeds.
Although someone constantly walked and collected empty glasses, but did not see everything else)
There were enough sunbeds for everyone and there were always plenty of empty seats.
The presence of breakwaters in the water did not spoil our impressions in any way!
30 left or right and a picture of the ocean without breakwaters.
Since the beaches are everywhere municipal, local sellers of coconuts of all kinds of handicrafts roam everywhere and of course they offer excursions! ))
Keep track of your belongings (glasses, phones, etc. ).
In general, I liked the rest!
But sitting in a hotel even so good is not something for which my tailbone endured for 13 hours!!!
Travel around the island, take different excursions and memories will be brighter!!!
(They took from "Anex Tour" and "Dominican Pro" - I liked everything! ) Not advertising)
We went to Saona and Samana with a visit to Mount Radonda.
