We took 3 excursions: a boat trip on a yacht (where they took us for a ride, and then fed us lunch), a jeep safari (where we were taken to beautiful places, we stopped by a ghost village, a cheese factory, a mountain waterfall, a mountain river with a bungee, a trout a farm, a winery, where we were also fed and there was a tasting), a donkey safari (where they rode donkeys, and then there was a party where you can drink and eat as much as you want and a show program). All very cool and interesting. And Paphos is generally a museum city. Many sights can be reached even on foot.
I recommend going to different cafes and every day to relax in a new cafe. On average, one gathering in a cafe costs 20-30 euros per person. There are things that are worth a penny. for example, alcohol in shops (not in cafes), some souvenirs. In principle, the prices are reasonable. But it’s better to take free money with you to spend it, because there is where to spend it and you really want to do it. ))) Characteristic things that Cyprus is known for, olive products, including cosmetics, clay and plaster handicrafts and jugs, handmade lace , wines, silverware. All this and more can be bought.
We also rented a car there. But there are downsides to this: you can take what you want, but you can’t find many beautiful places on your own without a guide. But still, the car was very useful to us. Of the local dishes, be sure to try nabo meze (there is fish, there is meat). And in general it is better to eat more fish and seafood there. There, everything is very fresh and deliciously cooked (you can eat all kinds of hamburgers and pizzas at home). The only thing: I didn’t really like that in almost all dishes they shove French fries as a side dish (where necessary and where not necessary). Since we did not like button accordion evenings, we went to have fun in the center of Paphos. There is a street where the bars work mainly at night. Therefore, as befits the youth, my husband and I whiled away the evenings in these bars. True, dancing in bars starts very late: not earlier than 1:30 at night. Barkers invite you to many bars on this bar street, in many of these bars they give a glass of something free (for example, tequila) as a bonus, and in one bar we ordered a glass of wine, and they brought us 2 more for free. In general, I highly recommend relaxing! I do not advise you to go without creams, the sun is very aggressive. Burned out in 1 hour spent on
sun and pool.
Of the common shortcomings: we have a hotel in Paphos, but we flew to Larnaca, and from there we traveled by bus for an hour and a half. Although Paphos also has an airport, and we thought that we would fly there (and the travel agency asked about it), but the truth became clear only in the last days before departure, when nothing could be changed. That is, we were deceived. And so they do with many others (we met tourists there who were also sure that they had tickets to Paphos, but it turned out that to Larnaca). Of course, there is no big crime in this. We were delivered on a comfortable bus, but we just didn’t like the very fact that on this road from Larnaca to Paphos (and back when you fly away) in general, you lose half a day that could be spent on your needs. Therefore, I advise travel agencies to clarify everything very clearly when ordering a tour and focus on such details.
Among the shortcomings of the hotel: there are 4 restaurants and bars on the territory of the hotel. But restaurants are open only in the evening, and not just in the evening, but specifically from 19-30 to 22-30. Which, agreed, is very little. We would love to spend the day there. I also didn’t like that for every dinner I had to reserve a table for some reason. We did not know about it and came the first evening just like that. And we were gently refused, saying that we had not booked a table, but since it happened, you can come in an hour and a half and then you can have dinner. Of all 7 days, we dined at the hotel only 3 times (the rest of the times were either on excursions or in city cafes). And one of these times we got to the hotel restaurant for dinner only at 21-00, because there was some kind of wedding going on. I believe that it should not be so. Why can't I eat at a time that suits me? And the same British have dinner for 3 hours. They will come and at first they sit just like that for an hour and only then get up and go for food. It is because of this that the tables are occupied for a very long time and there are no places. And yet, again, the British, always from the very morning spread their towels on the sunbeds near the pool, like they took a place, but they themselves can go somewhere and generally be absent for half a day on these sunbeds. What is also not happy: when you want to swim, but you have to walk around the pool between empty sunbeds, but with towels spread out in search of a place for yourself.
But this can rather be attributed to the peculiarities of national recreation due to the difference in mentality, and not to the shortcomings of the hotel.
And from the shortcomings: we were evicted at 12, and the transfer was supposed to arrive only at 16-30. Passing this period of time is very uncomfortable.
Here are my main impressions. In general, if you want to lie down on the beach and see the island itself, study it, 7 days is very little. Here are 10 days - that's it. Good luck to everyone and happy holidays!
