In August 2010 we went on vacation to China. 11 nights in Hainan, 2 nights in Beijing.
The hotel is new, opened in autumn 2009. Beautiful, with thoughtful design in a relaxed style. Large, about 1000 rooms + villas.
Due to the large territory, you don’t feel a lot of people at all, you only see them in the restaurant for breakfast. By Chinese standards, breakfasts are very decent: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, European cuisine. European dishes are not enough, but you won’t stay hungry.
Huge territory, swimming pools, indoor pool, expensive spa, private beach. The transition to the beach is underground, which is very convenient, because. the road is quite busy. The beach is guarded and only Russians are there in the morning. The Chinese do not swim in the sea. They appear only in the evening when the sun sets. The pools are open until 23 hours, there is a small pool with fish for peeling. at the rate.

There are 3 restaurants on the territory. Were in a European one. Cooking is mediocre, very approximately reminiscent of European cuisine. Prices are not low.
The rooms are good, the furniture is new. There is no wall between the bathroom and the room, only a grid. This is due to the humid climate. The plumbing is modern. Cleaning is normal every day, but without much zeal. There is always tea, coffee, water, a kettle in the room. There are bathrobes, b. w. walk to the sea or pool, slippers. All rooms have a balcony. Our room overlooked the hotel. Beauty, greenery. The sea is visible from all floors.
When checking in, try to refuse rooms with balconies to the street, because. the area is being actively built up and you are guaranteed a view of the construction site. The hotel is large, there are always free rooms.
The staff is polite, smiling. Russian is not understood at all, only
one employee at the reception - Leonid, English - only at the reception.
We traveled with a child. We put an extra bed on which it was impossible to sleep. The springs are super-hard. There are no alternatives. So the child slept on the couch in the room.
Despite the 5 stars, insects still periodically appeared in the room. Ants in the area near the kettle and toilet. Once a large Asian cockroach crawled. not very pleasant.
In general, I liked the hotel. I did not like the rest in Hainan itself.
BORING. This despite the fact that we did not expect someone to entertain us, we went prepared in the sense of sights and excursions. This is not the first time in Asia, there is something to compare with. I liked it in Thailand, Vietnam, but not here.
But this is my personal opinion.
The Chinese food was annoying.
Prices in Hainan are not low. Treatment, spa treatments, food in decent cafes and restaurants, excursions are not cheap.
We will not go to Hainan again, but you can try once.

Contingent at the hotel: 80% Chinese (fulfill their dream of visiting a paradise island), 15% Koreans and Japanese, 5% Russians. Do not forget that China is a socialist country. In my opinion, some Chinese obviously came for some preferential or similar vouchers. They themselves do not really fit in with
this rather expensive and modern hotel.
Have a nice rest and positive impressions!
