Cycling and hiking in Zermatt in summer
I have long dreamed of riding a bike in Switzerland in the summer, Zermatt was also chosen for the reason that you can go skiing there in the summer.
Nature in July around Zermatt is just a miracle! No mosquitoes, horseflies, like in our meadows, but a million flowers, restaurants with a view of various four-thousanders, where they serve wonderful local homemade dishes.
There are few cycling routes in the mountains around Zermatt, all of them are quite difficult, because. half way is rocks and climbs. However, you can find paved paths, which you must first climb on the lift. At first I did not know about this, although I tried to navigate on the map. As a result, part of the way led the bike on foot, because. it is very difficult to go uphill on stones for a long time...
In general, Zermatt is a paradise for walking! Everything around these paths is equipped, there are benches along the way, you can first get to many paths by lift in order to go down further, which is much more pleasant than up. Rocks, mountains, waterfalls, meadows, marmots, flowers of a million species - all this is best admired during these hiking trips.
I devoted one day to skiing, but I didn’t know that you can ski from half past seven in the morning, and after eleven the snow turns into porridge, mounds, clods appear, in short, like on the Alpika in Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi. If you are going to go to Zermatt for the sake of skiing - better get up early and at seven you will already be on the mountain to enjoy skiing.
In general, the rest in Zermatt is a thrill, everyone is kind, kind, tasty food and they know a lot about it. True, the prices are not cheap, but you can also find quite inexpensive food such as delicious mashed soups with cheese. Nature is generally beyond compare, and it's nice that they protect this nature there, it's visible everywhere, in hotels, in the mountains.
