A small 3-storey hotel Preslav is comfortably hidden in a green environment next to the main entertainments of the resort. The hotel consists of two parts connected to the lobby bar. A covered passage leads directly to the spa center of the neighboring Hotel Ambasador. The hotel was built in 1980 and last renovated in 2015. Located 500 meters from the center of the Golden Sands resort.More →

I was impressed that there were watermelons every evening...and not that they were at the beginning of dinner, but they were constantly cut...everyone had dinner. The same with ice cream...there was a lot of it (at least 5 types) and really DELICIOUS, the taste of childhood))). Location: a 5-minute walk from the sea, in the park - it's just great. when you leave the hot sea and don't know where to go, you enter the territory of the hotel and coolness awaits you here...
The staff are all friendly. It's a pity that everyone understands Russian (((English is bad. But they are friendly.
And it was more impressive. that there were no Muscovites in the hotel, or they behaved very quietly so that no one noticed them)))))

The hotel was chosen according to the principle - close to the sea, quiet place, all-inclusive meals. The hotel is inexpensive, rather average in price. The place is really good. The place is really good. We arrived after 3 pm and were seated immediately. Now more. Our room was on the 2nd floor, small but clean. The plumbing is correct. But darkish, the window overlooked a shady alley. The towels didn't dry well. The hotel does not have an elevator, there are only 3 floors, but there are a lot of stairs, they are everywhere.
The sea is close, 5 minutes walk in the shade. The beach is normal, not dirty. A gate to the Riviera beach is open nearby, so you can walk there as well. Umbrellas for 10 levs, sunbeds as well. But the free zone is large enough, you can lie under your umbrella on the mats.
Nutrition. It's surprisingly good quality. But the choice of food is small. Delicious pastries. Ice cream from lunch. It can be taken out to the room and everyone did it. There were no complaints from employees. Rotovirus was not observed, although we expected it, because there were elements of unsanitary conditions.
No service. There is nothing more to say.
The biggest disadvantage of the hotel is that they accept children's groups. After the children in the restaurant are a pigsty, the waiters do not have time to clean the tables, and they are in no hurry... But the food is served until the last minute.
The hotel has two bars, a pool bar and a lobby bar. The pool is good, deep, with a children's section.
The disadvantages include the fact that the hotel has sooo many small children, ranging from infants. It is not very good when their squeak is heard from everywhere.
So think and decide, weigh all the pros and cons. We will not go there again, we want the rest to be REST. Next time we will choose a more expensive hotel.

Service and food in the hotel is good, even though it is 3 *. By itself, the village of Golden Sands is not large, convenient communication with Varna, there is a shuttle bus. In principle, I liked Bulgaria, the only thing is that, as for Europe, it is dirty. My food was all-inclusive, quite decent, no one had poisoning, there were flies, but in the heat you can’t get away from them. We arrived at the hotel late, they gave us a couple of sandwiches and something from citrus, the check-in went well. I was settled on the first floor, at first I didn’t like it, I didn’t want the first floor, but they told me that the administrator decides, they didn’t understand Russian well, but in principle, it was fine on the first floor. I just read the reviews that it is humid on the first floor, but maybe this is at a different time of the year, but in the summer it was normal. The hotel itself is coolly built, in the form of a fortress, a castle, inside there is a green area, tables, some kind of spring. Cozy, quiet, calm hotel, more fuss further. Moreover, it’s a little walk and there the center is almost nearby, there is a market, and shops, there are many exchangers, entertainment is different. The guide at the hotel offered us excursions, they were more expensive than in local agencies, but we were warned that local agencies have problems with insurance, so it's better to buy from your representative from the tour operator. I took one tour, I liked it. The only negative is that the Bulgarians do not speak Russian well, I had to show or turn on the translator on my fingers and speak Bulgarian. But in general, I liked the hotel, everything was good.

There is something to compare with, as they constantly rested in "triples" with the "all inclusive" system - this hotel does not dare to call it "three stars".
From the positive: a quiet place, close to the sea, friendly staff. And that's probably all.
The room was a family one: relatively clean, but the furniture was dead, the shower was the same name (the curtain was short, there was practically no side, it flooded the entire bathroom). Towels are changed on the fourth day, dirty and wet and will lie on the floor for three days, they will not be taken away earlier. Cleaned every day, so, for the sake of appearance (they wiped the floor in the places of walking and the bathroom with a wet mop). There are no beach towels. Parking for cars is paid, 10 leva per day (it's a lie on booking. com). Swimming pool - for adults, children's (if you can call it a circle with a diameter of about 3-3.5 m) is not fenced off from an adult with a depth of 1.3-1.9 m. There is no animation for children at all. For children in the morning and in the evening - dry muesli with powdered milk. At lunch - a common menu. You can take drinks from the vending machine at the lobby bar only during the bar's opening hours (10.00-21.00), then it's taboo, even ordinary drinking water, which, by the way, also had to beg from the bartender. The restaurant is a separate issue. The food is ordinary, Bulgarian cuisine, the cook tried, but he is not a magician, you cannot cook soup from an ax. Ice cream - only for lunch and only in the restaurant. God forbid to take a fruit to the child's room, there was no question of a piece of bread at all. In fact - this is a boarding house, no it's not "all inclusive". Everywhere is dirty, no one cleans the adjacent one (a couple of steps from the pool there is a pile of garbage and a warehouse of used fuel canisters (next to the parking lot), the area in front of the entrance and the courtyard are more or less cleaned, that's all.
But the most depressing impression of the beaches: in 10 days I have never seen anyone clean the sand, even the paid area. An employee walked in the paid zone in the evening, collected large garbage (bottles, napkins, etc. ), everything else remained lying. And the free zone is absolutely terrible: everything could be found in the sand and on the sand: from broken glass to used condoms. The sea is clean and warm, but there was always wind and waves, I heard from vacationers that there is an almost constant phenomenon, very rarely there is no wind.
In general, we definitely won’t go a second time and I don’t recommend it to others, especially families with children. We repent that we didn’t go to Albena to the beloved “Orchid” - it’s like heaven and earth compared to Golden Sands and Preslav... we wanted to try something new... we tried it called ((((
In a word, who wants the "charms" of domestic service and the sea - you can safely go, get it in full)))

With great difficulty, two days later, they moved to another even smaller area (the room is not more than 10 m2), but after repair. We were happy because we didn’t even unpack our suitcases, we were afraid to smell this terrible smell. the food is terrible. Often there was simply nothing to eat. I'm not talking about what sausages, cheeses, sausages were, but even cucumbers and tomatoes were on the verge of edibility. The savings are fantastic! What kind of managers do you have to be in order for a hotel in Bulgaria to have terrible vegetables and herbs? The rooms are dirty. I cleaned it myself a few times. The first line is fenced for several kilometers. If you go to the nearest beach, where the fence ends, you get to a patch of free beach, where people lie very close to each other and there is a lot of garbage. Real garbage that no one ever cleans up. You can go further for 10 minutes along the beach and get to a normal beach with a normal free zone. But this is certainly not 150 m to the beach, but already a kilometer. Yes, the hotel is located in a fairly quiet area surrounded by trees, but this is the only plus. Wouldn't go there a second time. The owner of the hotel is extremely short-sighted and stingy.

Well, now let me tell you about our wonderful vacation!!!!
First of all don't go to this hotel if you are single or you are a young couple - this place is not for you. Across the road there are hotels specifically for this category of vacationers. There is "hellish annealing" in the good sense of the word from 10-00 to 23-00.
"Preslav" is a quiet family hotel for children with parents and older couples. In the evenings, in our children's party, I counted up to 17 children in the region of 5-8 years =))).
The golden sands themselves are a nature reserve. Beauty is extraordinary. Very fun party resort. Our hotel is located away from parties, in the park.
Yes, the park is neglected and requires care, but the trees themselves did not become worse from this, and the squirrels only increased.
We are two families with three children. We got a small room on the third floor with an extra bed. And friends with two children had a two-room apartment. Everything in the room is "savdepovski", but everything is clean and tidy, nothing is broken. The room was cleaned every day, towels were ALWAYS changed when I threw them on the floor. The linen was changed once a week, but if you need to change it outside the schedule, throw it on the floor and put 2 leva on top =)))) (50 rubles) and everything will be re-made with "swans".
With hot water never for 15 days there were no problems.
Nutrition!!! ! It is something. All arrived with weight gain. Impossible to hold on. Very varied. Soups, several types of meat, fish, mussels, watermelons, peaches, feta cheese, dessert and many other tasty things. Probably for some it was difficult to find a table if you came in the middle of lunch time. But I can say that sometimes we waited (a couple of times during the entire vacation) for no more than 5 minutes and there was a table. if you come to nasal time for lunch and dinner. You can sit comfortably.
Ice cream to children always got it and several times. They themselves stood in this small queue and recruited him. All adults understood that ice cream is for children. And there was no resentment, as I saw in one of the responses from Ukraine, that they didn’t get ice cream =))))
The wine is white and red, not the best, but you can drink it for the first days. The bartenders Nasko and Bocho made great cocktails - it was delicious. The beer is very good. In general, all Bulgarian beer is good.
The entire staff is very welcoming and friendly, the big-shev of the Sevdolina hotel is always in place and bangs everyone. Wonderful woman.
Service and attitude was very good.
We were lucky that during our vacation in the hotel there was a children's camp from Balakirev, their pioneer leader organized children's discos, the children burned =))))
Inside the hotel (and it is round) there is a courtyard, flowers, everything is well-groomed. Yes, the old Savdep tables spoil the view, but they have a clean tablecloth. I'm sorry, but even the public toilet on the first floor was always clean and washed. Although the floor of the hotel was going downstairs in the evenings =))) Children played in their party and adults - lo-inclusive =))))
We went to Varna several times. Prices in Golden Sands for many goods are 2 times more expensive - but this is a resort =))).
The sea is nearby, we went to the right to the breakwater, there is shallow for children. There were always places, rarely took chauffeurs. The sea is clear and warm.
Twice rented a car 7-seater Opel 50 Euro per day. We traveled all over Bulgaria. Were in Nessebar, Burgas, Sunny Beach, Kavarna (it's terrible there), on Cape Kaliakra (strikingly beautiful), in the Stone Forest. We did not take excursions. we love to ride.
We had a wonderful guide Marianne. On June 23, Pulkovo did not send us both bags that I put in luggage =)))) but sent one only the next day, so Marianna herself picked it up from the airport and brought it to my hotel. And then I needed an urgent removal of a wisdom tooth, so Marianna recommended a super-surgeon in Varna, who perfectly removed my tooth for 60 Euros. (Octor Aushev's clinic - it may be useful to someone - I recommend it. ) =))
The rest was only overshadowed by a return flight with Transaero - but this does not apply to a review about the hotel.
We all got very excited. !!! ! All with children there. Sorry for the spelling =)))

We were in Bulgaria for the first time, in the period from 1 to 10 June 2014. The hotel was chosen based on reviews, minimum distance from the sea, food. And they made no mistake in their choice. Never regretted choosing this hotel.
We traveled by bus from Ukraine. The road is long. 25 hours. If possible, take the train to the very last city of Ukraine, where the bus can pick you up, while reducing the time spent on the bus.
Arriving at the hotel, we were settled immediately and told the rules of staying at the hotel. We were three adults and they gave us a large, bright, spacious room with a huge balcony. The rooms are the most ordinary. Everything in the room worked well. There was no unpleasant smell in the refrigerator, as is often the case in hotels, there was always hot water with good pressure. The furniture is not new, but the beds, in principle, are very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day. Disadvantage: the bed was not changed even once in 8 days, and towels were not changed once, twisting funny little animals out of them))
Pros of the hotel: 1) located 4 minutes walk from the sea and 2 minutes from shops, cafes, discos. At the same time, there is silence on the territory of the hotel, the music of discos is not heard and no one bothers to relax; 2) all hotels are high-rise and surrounded by traffic, cafes and shops, and Preslav is located inside a small park and is closed from the prying eyes of vacationers. You can lie quietly by the pool or sit on the balcony, while none of the passers-by will stare at you; 3) Preslav - one of the few hotels that has a cozy, quiet courtyard where you can safely drink coffee and sit in the shade of a tree on a hot day; 4) excellent cuisine!!!! ! Everything is delicious, very homemade! Delicious local wines and brandies. Do not drink juice - it's something . . something tasteless, like a cheap drink ((( 4) very friendly and attentive staff.
In general, we really liked the hotel! I recommend this hotel! Budget and corresponds to 3 stars. If you want a quiet family vacation close to the sea - you are in Preslav.
I will write a little about the beach. The beaches in Golden Sands are all officially free, but the private owners rent 80% of the beach, fence this area and put sun loungers and umbrellas there. You can't put your own towels between the sun loungers. If you want to sunbathe in a fenced area - pay money. Sun lounger rental - 8 lev per day (4 euros). Umbrella - 8 lev.
That's all. I wish you all a good holiday.

I would like to share my experience of staying at this hotel.
Before the trip, I studied the demand for certain budget hotels in this fabulous country, which I visit for the second time. Rested with a girl, in the period from 02.06. 2013 to 14.06. 2013, a ticket for two cost 7200 UAH, was booked in the last days of February at some kind of super-discount of 660 euros for everything, including visas and bus travel for two, which actually served as one of the main criteria for choosing this hotels.

Now in essence:
1. Hotel - this is loudly said, I would designate this building as a pioneer camp, and far from "Artek": ) in the extreme it can be equated to a boarding house. The darkness of children who arrive / depart / arrive and leave on transfers, all this is put on a large stream, because.
the discount for children is significant and they rest there in groups, mainly from the countries of the former CIS, with us there were Muscovites, Yakuts, Ukrainians. While I will miss all the details, they will be taken into account in section #2 and #3 (food / service). The accommodation itself is quite satisfactory, we are unpretentious people, everything suited us, I was surprised by the pressure in the shower, like from a hose, the very handle of the shower pulled out of the brush, from such a stream of water. The mattresses are hard, on a spring block, at first some discomfort was felt, after, apparently, they got used to it, therefore, I do not recommend this hotel to people suffering from curvature of the spine, because between the multi-spring block that I use at home and the usual metal spring block - the difference is very significant.
In general, the room is tolerable, with everything you need to stay there. Hairdryer, iron - no, no dishes either.
They didn’t ask for a hair dryer, the girl brought her own, the iron is at the reception, they don’t give it to the room, you iron right around the corner, on the ironing board, it’s stupid, uncomfortable, but such fire safety requirements (as we were explained on the spot) I meet this for the first time. There was an air conditioner, I did not see the need to turn it on, and therefore I was also not interested in where the control panel was. Wet cleaning every day, change of linen and towels was 3 times in 12 nights.
Now, in order, +/- numbers and placements in general:
Pros: a good shower, a room with old furniture slightly immerses you in the atmosphere of the 70s, when this "hotel" was built, windows overlooking the park, in which, in principle, the entire Golden Sands resort is completely immersed.
Cons: from the little things, a balcony with dividing wooden bars, through which people resting nearby are visible, no sound insulation, there is no way to retire on the balcony, but this is not critical, because.
in fact, there is nothing to sit on, a semblance of chairs and some kind of plastic stool in the role of a "table", the back of the chair sags with a slight back load on it. There is no elementary rope on the balcony - for drying clothes, I tried to get it at the reception, but it didn’t work out, they couldn’t buy it, because they wanted to do it in Varna, they didn’t find it there, and at the resort they noticed it on sale only in the last days of rest , did not buy. There is no lift. By number, everything.

2. Nutrition. "Restaurant" is located in the basement on the 0 floor, there is a small terrace on the street. The food is quite edible, without frills and abundance, but there was still a variety in lunches and dinners for 12 nights. We are not picky about food, the only thing we tried not to eat these artificially tasteless sausages. The diet of the standard Bulgarian troika with meat, fish, vegetables.
Fruits were present, during our stay there were always apples, oranges, very pleased with delicious grapefruits, in the last week there was a struggle for peaches, cherries and apricots. There was ice cream, more about it in the minuses of the kitchen. The kitchen itself resembles an inn in a castle, heavy metal chandeliers with the usual uncovered lamps. Medium wooden tables and very bulky wooden chairs.

Now in order, +/- food:

Pros: glassware for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, which personally pleased me very much, because I hate drinking from plastic (and it is mainly accepted in this level of hotels), a variety of pork dishes, I really liked and, accordingly, I remember pork ribs at the last meal.
Literally for five days we found honey baklava, for which, as you understand, there was not a hefty struggle with youth, but when we managed to grab it, it was a small holiday, a really super tasty thing : ) Everything about sweets, there was always no cookies with some cream, occasionally ate small croissants with jam for breakfast.

Cons: the kitchen is perhaps the very fly in the ointment that crosses out the generally tolerable impression of this building called Preslav. Actually, her organization of the trays of finished baking sheets with dishes, or rather, the complete lack of organization, when the staff had to be reminded of the ending food, and to do this regularly, which did not give the slightest pleasure.
As I mentioned earlier about ice cream, ice cream is a separate story, for all 12 nights I ate it 2 times, due to the fact that there, from the very beginning to the end of the dinner, there was a terrible queue of children trying to pick out from extremely thin plastic containers that sagged under the pressure of spoons - this frozen miracle.

Also, the kitchen was pleased with the fact that at the entrance to it, we were regularly checked, asking for the room number, consistently for lunch and dinner, it seemed that they were indifferent to our red bracelets, talking about All inclusive, and we are generally people from the street who came to eat for free and spend the night on a free couch, of course I'm exaggerating, but that's how I perceived the current situation there. By the way, bracelets without the name of the hotel, which again I have never met.
I was also pleased with the case when for the first time I was able to push my way to ice cream and fill a glass with this frozen mass, when I tried to leave the territory of the "restaurant" I was stopped by a curly-haired pseudo-security officer who forbade me to leave the territory of the kitchen with ice cream, of course, to a clear question why - an adequate answer did not follow, just a printed piece of paper was shown on the wall, with ice cream crossed out. Naturally, I did not comply with his directives, and arbitrarily left the place where I had previously taken food, they put out a hand and attempted to leave me in the abdomen, to the exclamation: "take your hands off, " he changed dramatically in his face, and something else shouted after us in Bulgarian for a long time.
A mosquito was baked in french fries, not critical, but the level of cleanliness of the kitchen speaks not from the best side. Photo attached.
There were never enough places in the "restaurant", people were forced to rush about with full plates, their eyes were looking for free tables, there was the most natural slaughter for a free chair (especially among children, and this is out of season). Probably everything in the kitchen.

Service:
We are reasonable people, and we understand that for such money you cannot demand a five-star resolution level service, in which we did not arrive, but still, I would like to highlight this particular point, because in my opinion it is the BASIC one when choosing a hotel. Almost all the kitchen attendants were very young, it seemed that they were recruited here exclusively for the season that would pass and there would be a new batch of applicants.
They looked like disheveled tomboys, dressed in a white bottom and a black top, while the shirts were dimensionless and did not always tuck into trousers, some of them wore jeans and colored shirts, allowed themselves to loudly discuss something in Bulgarian, walking between the tables, during the meal itself, which created the atmosphere of a noisy bazaar.
In general, requests at the reception were fulfilled quickly, but not without losses, an electrician was called twice, after the first time the light worked for a couple of hours, and disappeared again, the second time the repair was made better than the previous one.
When checking out from a room that was supposed to be at 12-00, we left the room at 11-00, they refused to place the suitcases from 11 to 16 at their reception desk until our transfer, they offered to leave them in an open room, out of their viewing area, there where there was a courtyard, and anyone who wanted to could open a suitcase and get everything he liked, but after some discussion, the receptionist was convinced that we should be allowed into a room with video surveillance, and leave our two modest suitcases there. The minus of All inclusive for drinks and alcohol is that it is valid at the lobby bar only until 21-00, which personally amused me and forced me to collect what I wanted in advance and take it out of the "Restaurant" so as not to run to the store later .
I also have to bring you one egregious case about the lobby bar, surprisingly I liked the beer in the hotel, its name is Pinsko (I could be wrong), it’s very tasty, but it’s delicious only, oddly enough, only in the kitchen, and in the pool bar, at the reception at the lobby bar it's completely the wrong beer, but that's not about it. Somehow I, who approached the bar, ordered a beer, behind the bar there was a bartender and a person, apparently, either a plumber, or a person who changes pins with beer by connecting some pipe communications to them. The situation is as follows, this "mechanic" blocked the passage to the beer faucet, and the bartender, as if nothing had happened, silently handed him a glass into which he poured beer, he took the glass almost by the upper rim, in the place where we raise our lips and we drink any liquid, with our dirty, unwashed hands, after handling the pipes.
Of course, I did not drink this beer, a remark was made to the bartender and the liquid quickly proceeded to the washbasin. After that, another bartender changed, the most sane in my opinion, his name is Martin, who poured me a beer. .
The pool, which I never visited, the lack of a sufficient number of sunbeds, I counted about 25 for the entire hotel, this is the problem of many hotels of this level, but 25 for such a number of rooms is unacceptable. All inclusive by the pool works only on the principle of beer + diluted UPI, everything, nothing more, very scarce, I was not interested in its working time, what I remember, the lifeguards are there from 8 to 17 hours daily.

Later, I decided to talk to the manager, an ordinary employee, his name is Rado, who listened to me, but practically did not comment on what I left in the complaint book.
Moreover, I was surprised by the fact that negative reviews were sealed with laudatory praises, I specially took a photo of the review and this "review journal" itself without printing and numbered pages, but it doesn't matter, I personally numbered up to half of the journal, this is unlikely to somehow affect further entries, but still. I asked him a question about the room number that was constantly asked at the entrance to the dining room, answered ambiguously, as far as I understand, the "hotel" does not work on any other systems such as: BB, HB, exclusively AL (All Lnclusive) as evidenced by the inscription on prices at the reception itself, he also stated the following: someone drove in according to the documents for a full ration, but in reality it turned out differently, they say they mixed up the documents, and in this regard they were forced to ask for the number of rooms, it is unlikely, because
it is unlikely that anyone would have called the true number in such cases, given such circumstances, we assumed that they simply entered the statistics of visits to the kitchen by one or another number of people, in order to understand how much food needs to be cooked.

From losses:
I will not sin on anyone, but a small gold ring disappeared from the number, the girl has two of them, they were left in the same place all the time, and at one fine moment it was not found. There is a version that we could accidentally knock it down / move it from the table to the floor, with some of our things, after cleaning it could end up in a cleaning lady’s rag and washed off in the toilets, but some left a negative imprint, they didn’t sound the alarm, they checked everything on their own by moving the furniture away , but alas, to no avail.
I left a sports windbreaker in that very "notorious" restaurant, which was safely taken out, either by the staff or by the hotel guests, which is actually not surprising, because it was mainly inhabited by our brothers Slavs!
That's my whole story in general, detailed photos will be in a couple of days.

P. S. I would like to add the following, if you want to hide from our everyday life, not hear Russian speech, not look at your feet, so as not to catch the child’s head with your elbow near the nearest tray of food, and relax at a level not much higher than what I described here, it’s better to overpay tighter a hundred euros per person, study hotel reviews more carefully and go to Sunny Beach, because it seemed to me that Golden Sands was tailored for our people, Russian / Georgian music played from every second tavern, I didn’t notice anything like this last year on Sunny Beach It was.
We made our conclusions, managed to ride around Bulgaria, fall in love with it even more, but this is not at all here.

I wish you a pleasant stay and pleasant service for your money!
All the best and see you soon friends!

Why is food the main topic in the reviews? Some of the sea and do not remember. Why did you go there? It is interesting to know what kind of sea is there, is the beach good, are the sunbeds paid, what is the depth. Eat at home and then eat.
