New Year in Mayrhofen
So, my husband and I celebrated New Year 2007 in Mayrhofen and stayed at the Glueck Auf hotel. We went to Austria with the operator Ascent Travel. There are no complaints about the agency. The rooms are small, all the furniture is wooden, a very good bathroom with a shower, there is a room for small snacks (sofa and table). Do not forget to take shampoo and soap with you, as the hotel does not provide them. Audibility is really good, but we did not pay attention to it. Especially when the TV is on. The absence of Russian channels did not bother us, but our old films were in German. Good language practice for those who speak. Breakfast from 7-30 to 9-30, the usual continental: cold cuts, bun, butter, pate, jam, juice, cereal with milk and coffee-tea. In the basement there is a drying room for skis and boots. There are few places, but you can always find a corner for your things. . Next to the hotel there is a ski bus stop (Scheilingof stop) that will take you from the Ahornbahn or Penkenbahn after skiing. Bus lines B, C and D. You can also walk, everything is very close, but it can be hard in ski boots. There are no buses from the hotel to the ski lift. By the way, don't worry about the map of the city and the tracks. The representative of the operator issues everything on the bus upon arrival. The trails are really many and very diverse. Now about the ski schools themselves and rental places. There are many of them in Mayrhofen, for every taste. You just need to not be too lazy and visit at least two or three places. The average cost of lessons in a group (6-8 people) costs 100 euros per adult for 3 days, the average cost of rental (skis or snowboard and boots) costs 50 euros per adult for 4 days. There are also private classes, more expensive, but with a Russian instructor. Adult groups only in English-German. There are also Russian groups in children's schools. So it makes no sense to take skis with you, unless you can imagine skiing without your equipment. . The only negative - do not agree to the Russian New Year's party in the Bowling Alley on the advice of Ascent Travel. Firstly, a strange restaurant, where the tables are placed right on the bowling lanes and at the same time there is a catastrophic lack of places, and secondly, a long service and waitresses who do not speak either Russian or English (it seemed that they were Bulgarians), and thirdly, double the overpayment. We were promised that they would turn on the speech of V. V. Putin, but instead they simply turned on the sound recording of the chimes. In general, the town is very cute, pleasant, there are a lot of interesting restaurants, so it's easy to find a place for dinner or a holiday. It is better to buy food in the Shpar supermarket, a large selection and cheap. I advise everyone to relax in Markovkino.
