Fairytale Mayrhofen
At the beginning of February, I visited the Mayrhofen ski resort with my son. The trip was arranged by Sunrise Tour. Tours were bought in October with a good discount and still at a low euro exchange rate, so the trip turned out to be very budgetary. With a visa and a fuel surcharge, it turned out to be 1300 euros for two (Tanner boarding house with breakfast). From the first minutes of your stay in Mayrhofen, you are associated with magical Christmas tales. Small houses, comfortably located at the foot of the mountains, the starry sky and light frost create a unique Tyrolean flavor. We liked absolutely everything we came into contact with - housing, food, beer and, of course, skiing. We started with the ascent to Ahorn - several blue warm-up runs for me turned out to be the main skiing area this season, since I arrived with an untreated knee injury. Rescued by a German knee pad with melallic inserts and hinges. Then, in order, we visited Penken with its narrow trails, the Hintertux glacier, the Zillertal Arena. The strongest impression was left from the glacier, especially since we were just lucky with the weather. Bright sun, calm and +5. A fairy tale! The skiing there is varied, the tracks are a bit harsh, It is understandable all the same glacier. The son had a great time, and I chose to sunbathe again because of the injury. We bought super ski passes for 6 days for 186 euros, so all transport, including the train to Zell am Ziller and the greenline to the glacier, were free. Also ski buses around the town. In general, they were satisfied with the ride. Now about nutrition. In mayrhofen this is not a problem, you can have a bite to eat on every corner and on the mountain. But dinner is sacred. Sometimes they refused snacks in order to save the stomach for a magical meal in the restaurant of the Brü cke hotel. Tasty and a lot! We couldn’t cope with the knuckle in the evening. There is a menu in Russian and friendly waiters. A little about housing. The pension is quite modest, clean, not far from the ski lifts and from the center. Breakfasts are the usual coffee, tea, buns, cutting, muesli, yogurt, juice, butter, jam, chocolate paste. Sometimes there was not enough omelet or porridge. But this is immaterial. I will write separately for those who have just started skiing or with children. A great place where you can easily learn to ride is Ahorn. There is a wide and gentle ski area and cool lifts (in my opinion the best and newest of all ski areas). With me, a middle-aged woman got up there for the first time on skis and slowly began to ride. After 2 days, she already began to gain speed. Unfortunately, the rest of the tracks are not for beginners, but for experienced skiers and boarders. We even managed to visit the local Dr. to. the son knocked out his shoulder (rides on the board). To the credit of Sunrise Tour, they actively participated, allowed to make a call to the insurance company in Moscow and generally assisted in all appeals to them for help. The hospital is a separate story. Everything is fast, efficient, cultural, qualified. In general, ending my story, I will say one thing - go to Mayrhofen, you will not regret it. A miracle vacation for little money is provided to you.
