We went to Austria by car. We arrived at about 20:00 local time (Moscow + 3 hours). Knowledge of Soviet school English was enough to communicate with the staff. We went to Austria by car. We arrived at about 20:00 local time (Moscow + 3 hours). Knowledge of Soviet school English was enough to communicate with the staff. And their greeting in Russian suggested that we were not the first Russians in this hotel.
The hotel consists of two buildings connected by an underground passage. (Then we moved from building to building along the street, it's faster and shorter, since the weather allows it) The first building (old) does not feel inferior in quality to the second (new). The rooms are clean, cleaning every day. Our room (2 adults + 1 kinder) overlooked the outdoor pool and mountains (the view is awesome !!! )
The price included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast from 7-15 to 10-00 (buffet) has a decent assortment, but if you sleep longer, the choice of cheeses, sausages, etc. cannot be called great. fry scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs (free of charge. ) Fresh juice, tea, coffee, no questions asked.
The bus to the ski lift starts running from 8-00 to 15-00 (journey time is about 10 minutes). bus from the ski lift to the hotel at 16-00 (or so) We missed the last bus, it doesn’t matter, for 8 Euro you will be taken by taxi either to the mountain or to the hotel (taxi-VW minibuses with ski luggage). In Hof Gastein, every second building is a hotel. A lot of cute cafes, shops and shops (close at 18-00)
In the hotel: reception desk, restaurant, bar, 2 elevators (first building).
3 swimming pools, SPA, Turkish bath, Finnish sauna, gym, ski room, 1 elevator (second building).
The pools are a separate conversation. The first two (indoor and outdoor) are connected by an automatic partition. In the closed one, 4 types of hydromassage (very relaxing after the mountain) In the open, it's great to have fun looking at the snow-capped mountains (you can't go crazy, you can swim) In the closed one there are sun loungers.
The second is closed, larger than the first and is located next to the saunas (children from 5 to 16 are NOT allowed to enter saunas, everyone goes naked in them) and SPA.
It has 2 types of massage.
A ski pass to the mountain (any 5 days out of 7 days) for three people cost 515 Euros.
You can leave your skis and poles in front of the ski lift for 1 Euro.
And you can drag it with you to the ski room.
Pros: Good cuisine, no Russians (anyone), decent rooms. Thermal pools.
Cons: The transition between buildings, non-replenished assortment of the buffet for breakfast and the same in the salad bar for dinner.
