In Kyiv, we booked, paid for and received confirmation for the La Fontana Bungalows hotel (I never took a three-star hotel, but this time, alas, it happened). On the way to this hotel, we, the four lucky ones, were informed that there were no places there. In the La Fontana hotel itself, they didn’t even want to talk with us about the settlement, explaining that our money from Join-Up had not been credited to their account (!!!). The hotel guide from Join-Up was not there (Plan a repair together with "Join-Up"!). It was impossible to find out why the confirmations were sent to us then. We were then taken to the Tropicana Kendwa Beach Hotel. (How did the money paid to one hotel end up in the account of another??!!).

We were taken to the “branch” of this Tropicana Villa hotel. Do not try to look for his description on the Internet, you will not find it. It just doesn't exist! From the main complex, this building is located half a kilometer. There was construction going on, workers were digging something, clothes were being dried nearby. Of course, we refused to go there. Rashid didn't care about us. We, from "Join-Up" with our partners TROPIKAL Tours LTD, tired him with our claims. 4 hours he took us to starvation. Periodically disappearing and returning, he proved that this is a wonderful hotel, that there are no more free places on the entire coast. In the end, he told the truth: either move in where they offered, or he will leave now, and leave us the opportunity to solve our own (!!!) problems.

Exhausted after 14 hours of flight, passing through customs and moving to Kendwa, hungry, stupefied from the heat, dazed from meeting with our partners of TROPIKAL Tours LTD, after 4 hours of negotiations with Rashid, we were forced to check into this incomprehensible “hotel” even more lower level, no reception, no wi-fi, no fridge, no soap and water supplies, where the safe didn't work. Almost at a construction site, next to drying clothes on clotheslines (see photo).

For breakfast and dinner we went to the main hotel (half a kilometer, remember?). The food corresponded to the three stars of the hotel. The portions are small, but if you wanted more, you could go again.

Half a kilometer for breakfast in the morning is not so scary. Almost a kilometer from the beach to the “hotel” in the sun (we had a siesta in the very heat), dusty paths, called roads, are already annoying.

And in the evening, after dinner, in the dark, off-road, in the dust, through the whole village with groups of kids demanding “1 dollar in your bag” and taxi drivers calling for a ride, these half-kilometers seemed endless.

With any household request, you could only apply to the reception (half a kilometer, remember?). For example, we come to the room. and there is only one towel, one sheet, no light, air conditioning and fan do not work. Then there are two options for the development of events: to walk half a kilometer in the heat (or at night) to the main building and talk about problems, risking getting a “myocardial infarction”. Or say hakuna matata (no problem) beloved by the Zanzabari people and rely on the will of the Lord. And there were problems like this every day!

The “beach” of the Tropicana Hotel is a passage fenced on both sides through numerous shops to the ocean. Three pairs of sunbeds near these fences. You can lie there only for lovers of saunas and steam rooms.

Then there are two options for the development of events: to borrow sunbeds from other hotels (then you need to buy lunch or dinner from them). Or for a long time to go along the coast to the overhanging rocks and hide from the sun there.

But the amazing nature, favorable weather, the stunning palette of colors of the ocean, stunning sunsets, amazing excursions from Zanzi.Club, the local flavor did not let us down! We saw all the sights that Zanzibar has to offer, except for the safari on the mainland. To go again? Unlikely...
