What do you expect from a good tour operator? Maximum comfort and minimum hassle. On our trip, it turned out exactly the opposite.
1. Flight to Turkey
The flight time was changed three times. On the website of the airports of Odessa and Antalya, our charter was not indicated at all; on the website of Ukrainian charters, until the last day, only the time of departure was visible, the return flight was not visible: we fly there, and how it goes back.
As a result, flight YE2555 departed on 06/02/2018. after 9 pm, we got to the hotel after midnight, and the first day out of 8 burned out completely.
2. Flight back
Initially, the scheduled departure was at 22.00. Information about the transfer to Antalya airport appeared at the hotel after 19.00 the day before departure, and the time was 23.50. Naturally, we had to pay extra for the extension of the hotel, since they had to pick us up from the hotel at 20.20. We extended the rest for the day at our own expense, but we collected things in advance, as we felt ...
06/09/2018 at 12.30 we were invited to the reception by the speakerphone of the hotel and handed a printout with the changed data: departure at 18.00, pick up from the hotel at 14.30. It's good that we were at the pool in the hotel, and not on the beach / excursion / shopping / walking. Judging by the part of the empty seats in the cabin, someone did not receive the information in time. Thanks to the hotel managers, they themselves were stunned by such turns of Ukrainian tour operators and returned the money for extending the room.
At the airport of Antalya, the registration of passengers began 80 minutes before takeoff, dragged out to the extreme, so we ran through passport control and security checks in the truest sense of the word, and immediately on the plane. But then, for more than an hour and a half, everyone sat together in the cabin of the Turkish Freebird airline and waited for “documents for departure” or something else. That is, the YanAir plane simply did not fly for us, and there was a replacement. It looks like we're still lucky.
Then the passengers were happily informed that “in agreement with the Join AP tour operator and the Yanair company, service during the flight is not provided,” and mothers had to literally beg for water for the children from the flight attendants.
3. Local transfer.
Last year, a transfer was organized from Nikolaev to Odessa for flights to Turkey to Odessa airport. In 2018, in Nikolaev, the tour was sold to us with a departure from Odessa, but now the transfer company organizes exclusively to Kherson, and this is in a completely different direction. Logically - sell a tour with a departure from Odessa - provide a transfer, or sell only tours from Nikolaev with a departure from Kherson, if you position yourself as a major tour operator.
Given the complete absence of passenger transport links between the two regional centers from 21:00 to 5:00, Nikolaev passengers find themselves in a situation that is not the most pleasant: either a taxi from 1200 UAH, or an overnight stay in a hotel from 500 UAH, as we did. Total with minibuses there and back plus 50 c.u. expenses and a night in an Odessa hotel. Romance!
In fact, the “8 days 7 nights” tour, paid from Saturday to Saturday, turned into a “6.5 days 7 nights” tour + overnight in Odessa and a Sunday spoiled by a 3-hour drive to Nikolaev. Judging by the reviews, Join AP has serious problems with air flights, so I can hardly recommend buying a tour from this tour operator, although the employees in the Nikolaev representative office worried about us to the last: they asked us to confirm the departure, they are unimaginably ashamed of such logistics of the central office plus they are losing tourists.
