Hello dear fellow travelers!
My next trip to Europe in September 2010.
So, my name is Anna Petrova, I am the head of the Toursalon travel agency, Sevastopol. I experienced a trip to Hungary + Austria from our permanent partner "Accord Tour" (Lviv) - Melody of two hearts: Budapest + Vienna.
So, in turn. Why this particular tour. Night transfers - as many as 2 pieces, allow you to spend a minimum of time on a trip and reduce the cost of the tour. And of course 2 whole days in Vienna.
Departed as usual from the station in Lvov. The bus was good, with Hungarian numbers and a Hungarian driver (which greatly simplifies the movement within the EU). Next, we had an overnight journey. We prepared for it responsibly: a blanket, a pillow, warm socks. By the way, we immediately found out which places were not occupied and sat down one at a time. This greatly simplifies the journey on the bus along the entire route. So advice for the most cunning, find out right away - where is free (usually at the end).
We passed customs in 45 (!) minutes and we had a lot of time, we stopped for 2 hours in Tesco (a shopping supermarket in Hungary), where we had time to sleep, go to the toilet and walk around the store.
The first day of our trip began. It all started at 8 am from the city of Eger. Despite the fact that the tour is quite early, the people walked quite cheerfully with a guide. The streets were empty, so no one bothered to look around. We were so lucky, we even got to an exhibition of retro cars, seemingly collected from all over Hungary and beyond (from taxis to fire trucks). Then we were taken to the Egerszalok thermal baths. In the open air, in a beautiful place with a forest, there are many pools (there are also indoor ones), for every taste and temperature. They had such a great time that they didn't even want to leave. True, I want to immediately give one recommendation - take off your jewelry, everything that has not been removed has turned black, rings, chains, earrings. It’s sad, because I still haven’t cleaned some of my jewelry ...
Then we were taken for a tasting and then for lunch.
In general, I want to say right away that the sequence on the first day in the program is simply KILLING! Swimming after a night move is very successful, but going hungry for a tasting, pouring wine into oneself on an empty stomach is HORRIBLE! And only then they took us to feed.
Separately, it must be said about the tasting. The woman who was supposed to see her was late, so we were just poured, and we drank. No explanation, no nothing. Like, thump, to health. On the fourth glass, a panting aunt ran in and began to rub something in a breaking voice. And all this against the backdrop of hunger! Our table did not get drunk, thanks to the fact that I was at the tastings and I know how to do it. But basically, it was terrible. Until I got to the hotel, I could not calm down. Could have planned the day better.
Our hotel Flomenco was very pleased, we walked from the Heroes' Square (city center in Pest) to the guest house across the bridge to the Buda side in just an hour, and all this at a walking pace. It would be difficult to get lost, the map will always save! In front of the hotel there is a pond, a small park, shops with Hungarian wine nearby. What else do you need after an active day!
I can’t say anything about the sightseeing tour, everything is fine. We personally spent half a day sitting in the Szecznie baths, warming up and enjoying life, in the same center, to the left of the Heroes' Square, there is a good restaurant PAPRIKA, where you can inexpensively dine with normal goulash.
I want to say by the way that if you buy wine in Hungary, then almost everything is dry and at a quite loyal price of 20 hryvnia per bottle of 0.7 liters. And despite not being cheap, the taste of the wine is quite good. So you can safely take any Tokay and are not afraid (believe a person from the Crimea who understands wine).
Next, a trip to Visegrad and Szentendre.
Vysehrad is worthy of its view from the castle, but nothing more. If you go there and get into the fog, consider that you have wasted your money. Sentendre is needed only in order to cheaply skimp on all unnecessary stuff. There is also a marzipan museum, but this is already an amateur. Personally, I do not like it, and even more expensive. Although the museum itself is interesting. Next to the museum, there is a very good coffee shop, delicious cakes, excellent coffee, the average price per check is 3 Euros for coffee and 3 Euros for pirozhenko.
If I’m next in Hungary, I won’t go to these cities, once is really enough).
Then we were taken to Campona - a shopping complex with an aquarium. We didn’t go to it, because we won’t see anything new, but we ran around the shops. Unfortunately, there is very little time. And for women - it's just super. A lot of chain stores and at very low prices. Then, leaving for Vienna, I realized that it was necessary not to click and buy, because further it was only more expensive))). So I recommend that all ladies give a damn about the oceanarium, and please themselves with shopping.
By the way, they didn’t get to the horse show, but in vain, it turns out this is a well-known event. But “let's taste Hungary” I was immediately advised against. In principle, for this money you can go out to eat together, although if you want to party in the national style, go ahead.
Vienna deserves special attention. Compared to him, everything else was just such nonsense! We walked, turned our heads, enjoyed the atmosphere of a wonderful city! We sat through a lot of coffee shops! And it is not at all necessary to go exactly to the one that the guide or guide showed you. The easiest way is to go there and eat there - where the eyes look . I remind everyone that the Esterhazy cake - a classic Austrian cake and melange coffee - is not all that you can eat there).
From what is really worth visiting from excursions: undoubtedly, the Habsburg treasury is not just the word “treasury”, there really are so many things like that!!! We went there with our mouths open. I will not say everything, but the museum is worthy of attention. Schönbrun and Belvedere palaces are very pretty with good parks, but there is too little time, it is sorely not enough to see the park. There is nothing special to do inside the palaces, those who were in St. Petersburg in the palaces may even be disappointed and will compare.
I can also really praise the tour "Vienna in evening dress" + dinner at a home restaurant. Believe me, for this money an excursion + delicious food + great live music = 40-45 Euros!!! We did not regret that we went even once! We tried local wine from the cellar and even bought it to go! Although they didn’t bring it home, it’s a painfully heavy bottle, and since it is dry, it is drunk easily and naturally))).
We had a good hotel, in which the pool was included in the price, but unfortunately we did not have time to swim) The hotel is called the Pyramid, and it seems it was 4 *, which was very pleasing. There is a very cool restaurant in the form of a pyramid. Unfortunately, the hotel is very far from the city, so if you want to take a walk, you would have to return by taxi.
There were some hiccups along the way.
For example, our guide Gleb lost 2 tourists from the group, who then ran around the center of Vienna in a panic without a phone and a hotel card and were going to surrender to the local police. Or, for example, our driver Peter, who spent the whole trip on energy drinks, because the Accord did not provide us with a second driver! It was scary, it seemed that we would collapse somewhere with him.
And so in general, all the rules. Although it would not hurt to edit the program a little on the first day!
