We spent an interesting week with the family, we liked everything, thanks for the surprise on the way back - it was nice to drive through Budapest in the evening.
After this trip without night crossings - now I doubt that it is better - to go during the day or at night. From morning to evening, I want to walk around the cities of Europe, and not sit on the bus.
