Ibis is still a pleasant, bright and cozy hotel, there are non-smoking rooms, but, unfortunately, the service has become a little worse, as well as the cleaning of the rooms and the cleanliness of the tables in the restaurant are now not very good. The room had dusty old plafonds on the sconces, with stains, in the bathroom there was an unpleasant smell from the drain in the sink, and it was problematic to call someone to eliminate this smell. I lived in a room on the 8th floor, 817. Maybe just unlucky with the number? Last time I lived on the 6th floor.
You can still eat well in the restaurant, everything is beautiful, a lot of delicious pastries and fruits. I only had breakfast. Attaching photo.
My acquaintance, a pleasant girl Palmira, no longer worked at the reception, although I went to chat with her relatively recently, back in December 2017. By the way, with her departure, the only person at the reception who speaks Russian disappeared. This is not a problem for me, since I speak English well, but I don’t know how the rest communicate. Moreover, there are now much more Russians in this hotel compared to 2016. Probably now they are half of the total number of guests. Previously, it was no more than 1/4.
There is still a bus to Mamzar Park, free of charge, but now it takes tourists back not at 17:00, but at 15:30. Also not ice. You need to sign up in advance, I immediately signed up on the day of arrival, and for all the days ahead, because then there will be no places. And the departure from the hotel is strictly according to the list, please note.
Everything in the room is the same as before, a tea set, bed linen is changed every day, liquid soap in the bathroom.
In general, I was satisfied with the hotel and I think that I will visit it again. It's a very convenient place for shopping, near the metro, and I'm very happy that there is a free shuttle to the beach, now this is not so common in hotels. For the price, this hotel is not much more expensive than the terrible viper, the Spectrum 1 * hotel, which is located nearby, but the impressions are heaven and earth. In Ibis, you feel quite comfortable, quiet, since the windows do not open, cozy, you can sit in the lobby on pleasant soft sofas, drink mint water, which is offered to everyone for free, watching the motley crowd continuously scurrying along Rigga Road. One of the restaurants of the Golden Fox chain, which was on Rigga Road, right next to the hotel, closed, but the one on Al Jazeera Street remained. Locals say that the menu of this restaurant has not changed for 20 years. Yes, and the quality of food in the last year has not been very good, but still, it's still good. There are many better restaurants nearby.
I highly recommend the restaurants of the Emirates Sea chain, although they are far away. There are 2 of them, one near the Canadian hospital, the other in Sharjah. Aros nearby, and also a great restaurant. Attached is a photo of their business cards. You will not regret. And inexpensive. Although who cares... You can download their menu on the Internet and evaluate your financial capabilities...
In malls, it is beneficial to pay with a Visa card, a small percentage is charged. But God forbid you try to withdraw money from her in dirhams, at an ATM... sooo expensive !!!!!! ! Unprofitable. It's better to change dollars for taxi rides.
Deira is the oldest district of Dubai, once the city began from this place. And Al Ghurair Mall was the first mall in Dubai. But that's history....
So, the hotel is really good, it can be compared with a good four in Turkey or a poor five in Egypt. Settled without problems on the eighth floor. The advantage of such a settlement is the view from the window to the neighboring roofs, from which their inhabitants will not actively look at you (there are no curtains in the room, only blinds, so if you want the sun, open the windows to the world). The downside is that cleaning reached our 808 room only by 4 o'clock in the afternoon, already pretty tired and forgetful, so towels and tea were forgotten every other time, the hotel's slippers did not reach us at all, we walked around the room in shoes, well, more to us from them nothing was needed....In general, the room is not dirty and everything functions, it's comfortable to live. The shower doors were in place, at least in our room, so no flood. An adapter for an outlet and an iron with a board are brought at the first request at the reception, while the language barrier does not interfere at all, the girl understands sign language perfectly....The people working at the hotel are helpful, polite, you can feel a fairly high level of service. As for human communication, advice, etc. , to the left of the reception there is a table of the firms "Alfatour" and "Natalie Tour", a girl sits at it a day later, her name is Natasha. You can ask her about anything, she knows the region perfectly, is sociable and able to help in any matter. Her advice helped us a lot, because on the fourth day of our stay, we were already desperate to find in Dubai the goods we needed for which we actually came! What would we do if not for Natasha, I don’t know! Thank you very much, we didn’t have time to say it in person, we write on the website that we bought two dresses for our daughter at graduation!
Much has been written about breakfast at the hotel. Breakfasts are like breakfasts, everything is there, everything is edible, we didn’t get tired of them in a week. True, they once tried to have dinner there and were very disappointed: they paid more than in restaurants where they usually ate dinner and it was not tasty, in addition, they took money from us in full, although as residents of this hotel they were obliged to provide a discount, but since We wanted to pay immediately, then the discount is not allowed! So for dinner and lunch it is better to go to restaurants located in shopping malls, where it is tasty and not particularly expensive (average 40 dirhams per person). Yes, more about the dining room at the hotel: there is a juice machine near the coffee machine, the juices are real! It was not usual for us, so I inform you about it in advance.
Now about the weather: we tried to get to the sea, but we didn’t get much pleasure from it... Snorkeling is boring, because all the beaches are artificial and marine life is in no hurry to populate the bottom: a couple of sea urchins and small stingrays, that’s all that can be seen on day. In this regard, all the beaches in Dubai are the same: a lot of people, a lot of sun, the water temperature at this time leaves much to be desired - 20-22 degrees is a bit cold for me personally... But the tan sticks instantly, and because of the light breeze, our people do not notice how they get burned and in the evening everyone goes to the cafe with red faces. What can I say, take a protective cream on your first visit to the beach!
The city is polite and democratic. The feeling is like being on board a ship in the TV series "Babylon 5": people of various races, shades, in intricate outfits and with strange habits... Nobody interferes with anyone. When we got together, we were worried about clothes, they say, an Arab country and all that... In fact, there were no problems with this, all our dresses and T-shirts are quite suitable for the local climate and culture. Of course, given the specifics of the country, you should not put on a transparent pareo on a swimsuit and go to the beach in this form through the whole city. However, many do just that, and no one catches our ladies by the hands, they look after them accusingly and try not to react.
Now about shopping: it is specific. Those who expect to buy equipment (laptops, phones, etc. ) will really save 30 percent of the cost compared to our prices, but if you plan to buy shoes, clothes, etc. , tune in to the fact that it will all be at a discount, but significantly more expensive than we used to buy, because branded. For example, we bought an excellent carbon fiber suitcase of a good European brand for $250 (800 in Moscow), a women's dress from Valentino (RED VALENTINO series) for 1500 dirhams ($500), etc. You can also buy Adidas, Puma, Nike (men's sneakers within $100). Of course, not everyone is ready for such prices, then you can choose affordable brands like Mango or, in extreme cases, go to the fake market (it’s called Karama souk), but there will be frank China, you can buy this from the Chinese in your own bazaar for free, there’s no need to pay for overweight at the airport and haul it home. By the way at the airport had to really pay for the overweight. The hotel is not focused on our people, many guests do not come for the purpose of shopping, due to this feature there are no scales in the hotel, we could not prepare and shift part of the purchases into personal luggage and paid extra $ 75 at the check-out.
Now about the movement: if you remember school English, then arm yourself with a metro map and a silver card to help you. We, of all languages, know, as they say, only Russian and obscene, we try not to communicate in the latter, so we went by taxi. Fortunately, there is no problem to catch a car in any part of the city, everything is always honest, according to the meter and, in extreme cases, you can show the hotel card - the driver will always take you to the place, and even such hot spots as Nasser Square (inexpensive equipment), Dubai Mall (fountains and Burj Khalifa is not far) or Deira City Center (one of the largest shopping centers, it is great to dine inside it, the quality of food is better than in street restaurants) every taxi driver knows. In general, for the whole week, moving superactively every day and moving only by taxi, we spent only $ 100, at our prices, the same distances would cost us five times more.
ending my story, I want to note that I would return to this hotel again, it left a good impression, despite some minor inconveniences. However, I will now go to Dubai itself only for the purpose of shopping and I can hardly perceive this region as a resort, because the beaches and the sea here do not give the most important feeling that you expect from them on vacation - unity with nature. So just shopping!
The card is designed for several trips, to replenish the account on it, it should be presented to the metro ticket office along with the amount by which it must be replenished. What is important, this card allows you to ride the bus. Therefore, you can leave El Mamzar beach at any time by bus number 28, and not wait for the hotel bus until 17:00. Take the bus to the Union stop. The bus to the beach should be booked in advance and as early as possible. There are no buses to the beach on Mondays. On this day, El Mamzar is closed to the general public. By taxi to El Mamzar beach 21 dirhams. On Tuesdays, the bus goes to El Jumeirah Beach. All beaches are paid (5 dirhams). A taxi to El Jumeirah Beach can be reached for 35 dirhams. From the nearest metro stop (Bisnes Bay) to this beach 50 minutes on foot or 15 dirhams by taxi.
You can also drive to the beach of the new area of skyscrapers - Marina. It takes 45 minutes by metro and 10 minutes on foot. The beach is free but there is no shade.
No equipment rental. Umbrellas are either given out in neighboring hotels to residents, or bought in stores. With difficulty I settled down here in the shade from the trunk of a palm tree. There are very few of them here and they are without a crown. But it is beautiful here and you should get acquainted with this area of Dubai.
A free fountain show takes place in the Dubai Mall in the evening every half hour. There is also an aquarium, a zoo and much more.
The hotel is clean, air conditioning works silently, cleaned well. Of the TV channels, there are only RBC and Shanson. The bar shows the English Premier League and the Champions League.
Breakfasts and dinners are quite acceptable. Ice cream with whipped cream is of high quality here. There is an excellent gym.
The hotel is quite suitable for both leisure and shopping in Dubai Mall, as well as in the numerous shops of Deira and Bur Dubai, where it is easy to travel by boat from the embankment for 1 dirham.
Pros:
+ the hotel is new, so the rooms in it are quite fresh
+ despite its category of 2 *, the hotel has its own gym
+ the staff is very helpful, we did not even expect. There is an iron and ironing board in the room, you can ask at the reception. We did just that, they brought it to us right away
+ the cost of dinner is 60 dirhams, everyone writes that you can eat in a golden fork for 30, but the golden fork is a very dubious institution. In normal cafes you can eat at least 50 dir / person
+ there is a bar where you can drink alcoholic drinks
+ transportation to the beach and back, every day, at 10 to the beach, at 17:00 back
+ scheduled cleaning, no tip left, no need.
+ free wifi in the lobby
Minuses
- location. We did not know, but it turned out that Deira is an area where visitors live, it is dirty and noisy. To have a good time, you need to take the metro to the center to the malls, and this is at least 20 minutes
I would like to note that the variety of cuisine and the infrastructure of the hotel for 2 stars
The choice of food is very limited and there is no pool.
The hotel itself is excellent and we would go to it again, but the location was very disappointing. Following. times will take either in the center or Marina
