The Mussera boarding house or the Lakoba boarding house (the former sanatorium of the KGB of the USSR) is a 14-storey building with an elevator descent to the pebble-sand sea beach. The uniqueness of the Myussera boarding house lies in the fact that it is located in the Pitsundo-Myussersky Biosphere Reserve, next to the former State Dachas of Stalin and Gorbachev, on the very seashore, away from all settlements and central highways. The boarding house is ideal for lovers of a calm, measured rest. The advantages of rest in the boarding house Myussera: # Excellent ecology (reserve) # Clear sea and huge beach (own) # Completely enclosed area # Quiet, peaceful place, no strangers # Daily excursions in Abkhazia # Cafe by the sea, where fish and crabs freshly caught in the sea will be cooked especially for you # Restaurant "Apatskha" near the boarding house, where you can taste dishes of national cuisine # Friendly attitudeMore →

I will tell you about my vacation in the Mussera boarding house in August 2017. Unfortunately we didn't have a good holiday. My husband and I are outdoor enthusiasts, and the Myusser boarding house does not fit this section. Firstly, the boarding house is located very far from civilization, if you want to go out into the city, take a walk, go to a store or market, you will not be able to do this. The boarding house is located high in the mountains, the nearest Pitsunda is 30 km away, and to get into the city you need to pay 2000-3000 rubles. You are in prison, among the mountains. Very boring. From entertainment, playing checkers and chess, table tennis. it feels like you're in a retirement home. The average age of vacationers is 50-60 years old, there are no young people, or stray youth, like us who got there in the wrong place, or children who were dragged by their parents, grandparents. Excursions are held there, but 2 times more expensive than in other boarding houses, since there is no competition and you simply have nowhere to go. There is a clean, good pool, but bring caps with you, because you can’t swim without them. Take beach towels with you, because towels cannot be taken out of the room, there will be a fine. You can rent a towel for the beach for 50 rubles per day. Soviet-type rooms, with old furniture, but clean. Cleaning and garbage removal takes place every day. We had a standard room and it was hell, because there is no fan, no air conditioning, for 10 days we just went crazy with the heat. Therefore, I recommend taking more expensive rooms. The dining room is good, the food is excellent, varied, tasty, very satisfied. There is an animator who tries to entertain: exercises in the morning, a children's cartoon in the afternoon, a feature film in the evening, they played mafia 2 times. The sea is clean, pebbles, sunbeds and umbrellas are not enough, people come to take places on the beach at 5 am. Laundry paid 300 rubles per wash. We rode horses for 1500 rubles. One small shop, no pharmacy, but there is a medical center, fortunately I didn’t get to it, so I can’t say about its equipment with medicines. There are no ATMs, so there is nowhere to take money from anywhere, bring cash with you. If you run out of money, you will have to hire a taxi, pay 200 rubles, so that you will be taken to the nearest city, which is 30 km away and you will find an ATM there.
To summarize, I can say this. If you want passive rest, so that no one touches you, you rested, ate, and lay on the beach like a fur seal all your vacation, you just need to go to Mussera, you will like it very much. My husband and I are disappointed, as such a vacation does not suit us. I wish you all a pleasant holiday.

Transfer 3200.00 rubles round trip for two. There, in Adler, there are NO signs, look for yourself who meets you. The car is not equipped to transport people to the border in Abkhazia. Horror. There are no conditions in the car or any. The driver does not care that people are carrying firewood. It took 1.5 hours to cross the border, we walked 800 meters on foot. There is a rickshaw from the locals. He has a cart, all things, suitcases, he loads on it. 100 rubles per seat. Transfer from the border of Abkhazia. Like a Volkswagen, no air conditioning. Heat. Ride an hour. Serpentine.
About the hotel.
Everything old (furniture, floors, mirrors) is being renovated. 1 (One socket) in the room, no air conditioning. Fan. Entrance doors, locks changed a hundred times, they just snap into place. They don't lock up. The toilet is old, the sink is old and the toilet seat is not attached. The floor in the bathroom is old tiles. The windows are made of metal, old, when closing the roar. In the windows in the corners when opening cobwebs, old flies, mosquitoes. There are a lot of elevators. It's scary to drive everything rattles, shakes. There are 2 restaurants on the first and second floors, but I can’t call it a restaurant. There is nothing but chacha, wine and homemade cognac. The descent to the sea is HORRIBLE. WOODEN STAIRS WITH STEEP, CURVED STEPS AND WOODEN RAILINGS. WHEN DOWNING, YOU CAN SPIKE YOUR HAND. A child simply will not go down such a ladder, like an old person.
No fruit, no kefir, yogurt, no baby food, no tomatoes and cucumbers.
The hotel has 2 shops. Souvenir shop. Shop products. The prices are fantastic and the selection is zero. There is no place to walk around.

We followed in the footsteps of my mother to the Mussera boarding house, she rested there last year.
Our composition: my mother, I am with a baby of 1.10 months, a nephew of 8 years.
Duration 12 days.
Meals included, buffet.
For a child under 2 years old, everything is free, children from 2 to 5 years old pay only for food, 600 rubles / day.

Flight Moscow-Sochi: the plane was on July 11 at 8.55 from Sheremetyevo by Aeroflot. The child was watching cartoons on the plane and fell asleep before landing.
In Sochi, a transfer from the boarding house was waiting for us, a minibus with a child seat, in 15 minutes we reached the border, the crossing took about half an hour, on the other side another minibus was waiting for us (though without a child seat), 50 km from the border to go to the boarding house.
The boarding house was built for KGB workers. Located on a mountain, there are no settlements around for 15 km.
???? WI-FI catches on all floors, in the lobby, but we also called our relatives on WhatsApp and Viber in the room at the door.
The building is 14 floors, 2 large elevators, a dining room on the 13th floor, there are 3 rooms, 1 of them is an open veranda overlooking the sea????
Meals included in the ticket: buffet. The food is varied, we were not tired in 12 days. The kid ate cereals, soups, pasta, cutlets, meat, tomatoes and cucumbers from salads, buns, kefir, tea.
The boarding house itself is almost all recently renovated: we got a spacious room on the 11th floor overlooking the ???? , they moved 2 beds together and gave a folding bed (solid, with a thick mattress) for our nephew. Fresh wallpaper, new parquet, refrigerator, flat screen TV ???? . Cabinets left from the USSR. The bathroom is also of that time, the tiles are 30 years old, the bathtub can be too, the toilet bowl is quite fresh. Balcony, on it a couple of chairs and ropes for drying towels.
There is an elevator to the beach, because the boarding house itself is on the mountain. The beach is 1-1.5 km long, sand and pebble. The entrance to the water is stones, I swam in special shoes. The child ran barefoot on the sand and on the stones.
There are umbrellas on the beach, sunbeds under them need to be occupied until 7 in the morning, at 7.30 everything is already covered with towels; ) You need to bring sunbeds in the morning and take them to the beach boy in the evening. The beach is clean, no cigarette butts, no garbage.
There is a bar on the beach: there is water, ice cream, alcohol, barbecue, etc. Also near the beach is a mini market with fruits and vegetables. We ate delicious peaches, apricots, figs, churchkhella and so on.
The sea is amazing!! ! Clean, warm! Dream.
The boarding house has a shop with household goods and products.
There is a cinema hall, cartoons were played at 15.00, cinema at 21.00. Is free.
There is an indoor pool, shallow, with a bridge and a slide, swam a couple of times in bad weather. Is free.
Billiards, table tennis, library. Is free.
For children every day: creative classes at 10.00 with an animator, at 15.00 cartoons in the cinema hall, at 19.30 mini-disco on the street (lasts 1 hour).
For a fee: massage, many excursions every day.
We ourselves went on a tour of the dachas of Gorbachev and Stalin, 250 rubles per adult. It is 3 km on foot from the boarding house, in total we walked there and back for 3.5 hours, we found 12 kilometers, I think. I recommend. Beautiful territory, interesting history of cottages.
I am 200% satisfied with the trip.

The place of rest was chosen on the advice of friends.
We arrived at the Mussera boarding house already after midnight, we were greeted cordially and, despite the late hour, immediately solved all the problems that arose. The staff is hospitable and polite. Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed that the upholstered furniture was very worn out, the wardrobes were pre-revolutionary, shabby, the bathroom was like in a public restroom, there is air conditioning, but it does not fulfill its function. Pleased with freshly cycled parquet floors. But everything was clean and tidy.
The next morning I was struck by the unique nature of this wonderful corner of Abkhazia: the azure sea, protected forests untouched by civilization, clean air. If you need a party, shops, markets, loud music 24 hours a day, then you are not here. Here the sound of the waves, the singing of birds, the silence of the forests, unity with nature, meditation, complete relaxation. .
I personally liked the food, delicious, home-style, varied menu, there is plenty to choose from for children and people on a diet. The staff is fast and efficient. In the canteen bar you can always drink freshly squeezed juices at a price of 100-120 rubles.
Probably, all my claims will be addressed to the administration of the boarding house, which, by the nature of its activity, is responsible for the rest of people. Since my vacation fell on the summer period, this is primarily a beach. The condition of the beach leaves much to be desired.
First, it is safety. There are no restrictive buoys on the water, no rescue service. A metal armature resembling the pitchfork of Poseidon sticks out of the breakwater for 2 meters. When the sea is a little worried, it is not visible, but there are always a lot of children swimming near the shore. One feels like asking a question from a famous movie: “Did you have any accidents at a construction site?... ”
Secondly, the lack of the required amount of beach equipment. Only 2 dozen dilapidated umbrellas and 50 pieces of old, dirty, sometimes broken deck chairs. This is for 400 vacationers per season! A deposit of 100 rubles is taken daily for a sunbed, so that people do not take them far along the beach strip. But vacationers are forced to do this in order to hide in the natural shade of trees at a temperature of +35. In order for you to get a sunbed, and even more so an umbrella, you need to get up in the morning before dawn and take them. But people come to rest. By the way, a certain Sultan who is responsible for organizing holidays on the beach collects money in the morning, and in the evening you have to look for him all over the beach in order to return the deposit back.
Third, there are elevators. Of course, the restaurant on the 13th floor of the boarding house is very impressive and beautifully located, with an open veranda and sea views, but every time going to the restaurant was tantamount to taking the Bastille. Only two passenger elevators (with a capacity of no more than 7 people) are not able to cope with the flow of people trying to go up to the 13th floor, many go on foot (! ) However, there is another freight elevator that is idle and even maids, lifting clothes to the floors , don't use it.
If I had a rest at another time of the year, I would definitely mention a good gym, a cozy pool, a games room, a wonderful cinema hall, where interesting films are shown every evening for free. Horseback riding along the paths of the reserve, numerous excursions that are offered to tourists are also good.
Of course, almost every one of us has vacationed in Turkey, Greece or Spain, and one should not think that here you will receive the same level of service. By the way, the money spent on vacation is also very different. So if you choose Mussera, then try to accept it for who it is and enjoy the unique nature and the sea.
I saw that the administration is making attempts to improve the boarding house (some floors have been renovated, new plumbing is supposed to be installed), I understand that it is impossible to eliminate all the shortcomings at once and I really hope that someday this most beautiful corner of Abkhazia will become a favorite vacation spot for many people .
Rest was satisfied. The price-quality ratio is quite satisfactory.

The boarding house is located away from civilization, in the evening there was only a disco and a restaurant on the beach for entertainment, but that was enough for us. For lovers of a more active holiday - of course it will be boring there. The room was on the eighth floor, overlooking the sea - we have photos of sunsets in all colors! And the people there are very kind. I do not understand those who scold the Abkhazians. How you treat people is how you will be treated. We were friendly and benevolent, made friends with everyone, even when we left - almost all the staff saw us off. The girls in the dining room collected food for us on the road, the security guys treated us to wine, and the girl who sells fruit on the beach gave us a bag of tangerines. Abkhazia is a country of the soul, resting there is like coming to visit loved ones. We will definitely go there again next year, we miss it so much! Special greetings to Ira - from the dining room, to the maid Diana and to everyone who remembers us!

In 2016, on the advice of friends, they went to Bagripsh. It’s disgusting to even remember - rest down the drain. Now we have decided for ourselves - if Abkhazia, then only Musser. I want to note - I advise Musser to those who love a calm, measured rest.

Service for 0.5-1 star - whoever wants from the staff, he works hard, and whoever doesn’t want, he can pretend to the authorities - 1-2 guys from the dining room work, and the other 2-3 laugh at them and lie on the balcony, but there was no obvious rudeness.
The 7 buildings themselves have not changed globally since Soviet times.
Food - you won’t stay hungry, but there was really no choice of dishes and there were no normal fruits at all - for 9 days 2 times watermelon, 2 times pears (harsh) and 1 time apples.
Grapes on the market for... 180 rubles. per kg. , although in Ufa 60! rub.
The money apparently goes to Moscow, as the locals say.
Rent bicycles - a child behind your back in a special seat and wow - clean air, sea, pine trees - super!
We will gladly return to this guesthouse.
Rest in Pitsunda liked.

My wife got sick there, she got poisoned by something, I went to the reception and they told me that they didn’t have a doctor, they only found me a thermometer and that’s it. The old elevators once we got stuck in it. The food there is more or less you can eat. The beach is all in stones. Personally, I like sand. + I had a great view from the balcony to the sea. Stunningly beautiful, especially the sunsets.
+ good work of animators. young children will enjoy the evening entertainment.
+ Excursions of Abkhazia. This is the main plus for which it is generally worth going there. I advise you to visit the New Athos cave, a monastery, Lake Ritsa, a trout farm. A must to visit! Of particular note is the work of the guide. A person knows a lot and can talk very interestingly about everything in Abkhazia.
Minuses:
- Hustle and chaos around the buffet. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are strictly on schedule, which creates additional excitement. When the hungry and the afflicted are let into the dining room, the crowd rushes around the pots like crazy. All this to the national music in the style of "a-na-nai-na".
- The food is very average.
- old elevators, to which there was no confidence. During the rest, guests got stuck in them a couple of times.
- sand and pebble beach. For me, there were no problems, it’s just that at first it’s rather inconvenient to get out of the water.
- get ready for passive rest! Myussera is "separated from civilization", so on a typical day, entertainment will only lie on the beach and sit in a restaurant in the evening. Near only the forest and the sea. The popularity of excursions is largely due to this.
- old bad smelling furniture.
Total: Myussera is very good for the elderly. Until 1989, it was precisely a boarding house for the elderly.
Suitable for visiting a family who are tired of trips to the Russian Black Sea. Nature, sea and mountains will pleasantly surprise you.
Highly recommended for young or solo travellers.

I love walking. Is there something like a park on the territory of the boarding house, where you can calmly and for a long time wander without being afraid of anything? And about the sea - I'm going with a child of 9 years old, he can swim, I can't. How is it at sea - is it not scary for a child? Are there any lifeguards on the beach?
