A little about Abkhazia
We went to Abkhazia in September 2012, by car. The distance is just over 2000 km. On the way we were stopped several times at checkpoints, but there were no problems. The most difficult was the Sochi serpentine.
They stood at the border for a maximum of 15-20 minutes, they didn’t particularly inspect the car, they brought 2 cases of beer with them, no one had anything against it!
We stopped in a private house between the new and old Gagra, the price per person was 400 rubles per day. To the sea about 7 minutes walk, it turns out this is the 2nd line. The beach is small pebbles, there are breakwaters in the sea, but they are not particularly visible, it is convenient to dive from them. Having been on the beach in the new Gagra, we realized the advantages of the place we chose, firstly, the sea and the beach are much cleaner, and secondly, there are much fewer people.
We drove a UAZ to Lake Ritsa, along the way we stopped at the Geysky Falls and a number of other places! Nature - as painted! Very beautiful! The photo brought from there looks more like photoshop! We also visited Mamzyshka, we went there ourselves, by car, the view opens on Gagra from a height of 1500 m, we didn’t go further, the peak there is like 2500! There are many viewing platforms along the way, and the higher, the more beautiful! We also visited New Athos, also on our own, and the beauty cannot be described in words either!! ! Nature in Athos and Gagra is very different!
They brought a lot of wine from there! They didn’t dare to take it on tap, because they heard that they give one thing to try, but pour something completely different as a result! Scored a lot of bottled, never regretted! There we took a bottle of wine from 160 to 180 rubles, in comparison, in Russia the same wine costs from 350 and more!
The only thing that marred the trip was the so-called "Acclimatization"! In the Gagra area, almost everyone has it. It is expressed in "toilet sickness", high temperature often rises! Why this happens, no one can explain! Eat, don't eat, swim, don't swim, it still overtakes! The good news is that it does not last very long, 1-3 days, depending on the body! In our case, the temperature was kept exactly the day, theraflu was taken at night, in the morning there was nothing! In pharmacies, people stocked up on coal and stomach remedies, we took everything with us, because we had already heard about this problem! But in principle, it didn’t become a big problem for us, everyone ate and drank, swam and sunbathed every day!!!
Vacation was wonderful! )))
