I fly to California every year. I love these evergreen places. In 2007, we decided to spend a vacation there all together: my wife and I and our two daughters. Arriving to friends in Los Angeles, in 4 weeks they traveled everything within a radius of 300 miles - from Santa Barbara with its cold windy coast to San Diego with a warm ocean and a lot of museums and entertainment. For a change, we also climbed deep into the mainland to the Sequoya Park National Park.

I don’t list a specific hotel, since we stayed with friends, and on trips we stayed in small motels, of which there are simply thousands in Silicon Valley.

I want to show California from different angles.

There was such an American oil tycoon Paul Getty. In 1957, he was recognized as the richest man in the world. He was stingy, saved on food, installed a pay phone for guests in his house and washed his own socks for the rest of his life. Even when criminals kidnapped his grandson in Italy and demanded a ransom, he was not going to lift a finger until his severed ear was sent to him.

Nevertheless, in his old age, he thought about where to put all this state. Well, certainly not to give to relatives! Therefore, Paul Getty left most of his fortune to the Getty Trust, a charitable organization that owns the Getty Villa Museum, as well as the large Getty Center in Los Angeles, built in 1997.

This selection contains several photographs from both museums.
