To say that I really wanted to visit this city is to say nothing. Naturally, I dreamed of getting there, at least once in my life! My husband went there several times for work. After each of his return from Vegas, I asked to share my impressions, but every time, trying to excitedly express his feelings, he stopped in mid-sentence and said: "It's useless to describe - it must be seen! ". This phrase has so settled into my brain that thanks to this thought, I even managed to get a visa at the American consulate.
During the interview, the inspector asked me: "Why do you want to go with your husband to Las Vegas? ". To which I answered absolutely sincerely: "My husband said that I should see it with my own eyes! ". The inspector laughed loudly, which drew the attention of all those present to us, and with the words "Welcome to America", put the necessary seal, which even dumbfounded me, apparently, I was too truthful in my desire and left no doubts.
Therefore, the purpose of my story is not to describe the city (as you understand, it is useless and even photos and videos will not help), but to help those who get there, quickly get used to it and see the maximum possible, since there is something to see there!
This trip was a gift for me in the literal and figurative sense, since my husband and I were there for the 20th anniversary of our wedding. And travel is the best gift a loved one can give.
Now in order.
I will try to be as brief as possible, although this is an unimaginably difficult task, because in this city, impressions in a week can be enough for the rest of my life!
1. ROAD AND SETTLEMENT.
It turned out to be very long, since tickets were already bought close to the planned departure and there was no longer a choice of convenient connections. I had to fly Kyiv-Amsterdam-Detroit-Vegas, and even with long "pauses" between flights. Our plane landed at its destination when it was already late evening in the dream city. And this is the biggest plus in a failed flight, as landing in Vegas at night is a spectacle of spectacle! As a result, 32 hours of travel and "the key is in our pocket" - we are at the reception of our hotel.
After a long journey, a "surprise" was waiting for us - we were not settled until the second half of our company arrived, and she flew the other way and arrived a couple of hours later than us.
My husband left me with my luggage in the lobby opposite the reception, while he went to look around. Almost three days without sleep (well, I don’t know how to sleep on an airplane! ) made themselves felt and I fell asleep just standing up, like a “war horse”, only the horse stands, and does not fall. I collapsed onto my back. I still don’t understand how I managed to put my hands up at the last moment, while falling forward flat, otherwise, I would have “landed” straight on my face into the chic marble floor. I think this is much more painful than "face in the salad" and on this "honeymoon trip" could be considered over. I can imagine how fun everyone who watched this "Repin's picture "Sailed" (or maybe "They didn't wait")" had fun. But for that, this was a big plus, since I managed to "wake up" and endure another check-in and dinner, and not just dinner, but the celebration of the birthday of one of the "companions".
Only in the morning, when I came to my senses, I was able to fully realize the beauty and scale of the place where I ended up.
2. HOTEL.
This time the Mirage 4* hotel was chosen. I am writing "this time" because this was far from the first trip to Las Vegas for my husband, and each time they choose a different hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Most of the hotels on this street are simply giants that amaze the imagination with their scale. And the Mirage is no exception in its size. This hotel, like the bulk of them on the main street of the city, has its own zest and distinctive feature. To understand the size of this structure, I will say that right in the hotel lobby there is an "oasis" in which huge palm trees grow (and many other things). They are so tall that looking at their tops, you can turn your neck.
One of the main attractions of the Mirage is one of the Vegas shows of Cirque du Soleil "The Beatles LOVE", which we also visited. This is a great magic show!
The performance amazes everyone - numbers, music, costumes, stunts, and especially the scenery and the height of engineering! Looking at this action, you catch yourself thinking that you don’t understand at all how it all works and how everything is changing before your eyes, but you don’t notice what disappears where and where it comes from. Shine! I recommend booking tickets for all Cirque du Soleil shows in advance, otherwise you may not get in, or only too expensive ones will remain.
Near the Mirage itself, there is a volcano that periodically erupts in the evening. Naturally, it is artificial, but the impressions are real!
Also, on the territory of the hotel there is a dolphinarium, a mini-zoo, a swimming pool, restaurants, bars, a lot of shops and shops, a nightclub with a disco, etc. , etc. (most likely, I forgot something, it hurts there's a lot in there).
Naturally, there is a casino, and in order to get into the room, you must definitely go through it (actually, like in other hotels). It's called "don't miss it"!
The rooms in the left wing are for smoking guests, those in the right wing are for non-smokers. Outsiders cannot get into the "residential" part, while the entrance to the hotel itself is free. This rule applies throughout the city.
3. NUMBER.
Of course, you need to understand that the level of "star" hotels in this city (in fact, as in all of America) is completely different from hotels in more familiar holiday countries for our brother. Therefore, it is not necessary to focus on this, but simply tell it as it is. And there is (or rather, we had) a standard room of a decent size with two large beds, so large that the room, if desired, could easily accommodate four, and quite comfortably.
In the presence of all necessary furniture, safe, ironing board, iron, crockery, ice bucket. The bathroom, among other things, pleases the eye and body with excellent quality cosmetics with a great smell (I still remember) and other pleasant things. Moreover, all these cosmetic "joys" can be bought at home in a hotel shop.
In general, the room has everything you need for the convenience and pleasure of spending time in it, only there is one "BUT" in this - you absolutely do not want to spend time in it! I would like, "perekimar" an hour or two, to run somewhere in order to see the next "extraordinary" Vegas.
4. FOOD.
On the first morning, and it was Sunday, the whole company of us went down to the first floor of the hotel, where the buffet was located, in order to have breakfast. According to local concepts, "Buffet" is a buffet, paid, eat and drink as much as you want, or as much as you like. And at that time, the price included champagne, and very decent.
The waitress, who was engaged in offering champagne to everyone, was upset, as everyone refused the drink for some reason (apparently, everyone watched our "Diamond Hand" and do not drink champagne in the morning). For that, in our organisms it was already evening (after all, 10 hours difference) and they (organisms) took this "divine nectar" with great pleasure. Champagne paired with crab legs, other seafood and dishes is something! The waitress's mood visibly improved - she was glad to finally be useful to someone! Now she hasn’t left us - firstly, there’s no one else to go to, and secondly, anyway, she won’t make it in time: ) So we got the maximum pleasure and a “belly feast”.
In general, there are no problems with food there! There is everything for every budget - from McDonald's to "boutique" restaurants!
I would like to mention one more "place". Namely, the restaurant of the Palazzo Hotel.
And I remember it not so much for the kitchen, although it was impeccable, but for the service. I do not consider myself at all sophisticated in restaurant business, but, most likely, everyone would appreciate such a service. Namely: our table for four was served (in the full sense of the word), without departing, by a sommelier and two waiters, and the peak of my impression was the SIMULTANEOUS serving of the main course to all four! Impressed! It's nice to feel like a queen for once in your life! And yet, from the balcony of this restaurant you could watch the show of ships in TREASURE ISLAND.
I don’t really suffer from food, and I don’t consider American cuisine to be “super” at all, but I know for sure that in Vegas you have to try steak and crè me brulee for dessert.
5. SHOPPING.
While my husband was busy with work in the morning, I took a taxi and left for Outlet (there are two of them, and very large ones) to indulge in a little female sin called shopping.
My "fall", in the end, turned out to be so heavy that, firstly, I had to buy a huge bag; secondly, the husband was frightened "how much can all this weigh? " - overload is unacceptable.
If you are planning to go shopping there, I advise you to take with you an amount of money that you do not plan to spend more than (otherwise, you can lose everything! ). True, in this case, do not expect complete satisfaction. Since, upon arrival home, you will regret many times that you didn’t buy something. After all, when you enter any store with us, the thought will constantly hit your head: "Christmas trees! And in Vegas I could buy it five times cheaper! ".
This is what "American shopping" is like - solid "inconvenience"!
6. ENTERTAINMENT.
We got to the main point of this story, because it's no secret that people go to Las Vegas in the first place for entertainment! Someone will say that there is only one entertainment - CASINO.
I am not a player, so I have a completely different opinion and I know for sure that this city has something to see and how to have fun differently! Of course, in one week of my stay, I didn’t even see half of it, but I had a loved one with me, who had walked this city more than once up and down. Thanks to him, I saw a lot of interesting things and I am ready to share with you.
The main thing to remember is that most hotels in the city center have their own "chip" (which, sometimes, is not indicated in the official list of services and entertainment), or even more than one that you need to see. If you go around all these attractions in order, you must take into account that it takes a lot of time, but plan it for this pleasure. I "trampled my legs to the knees", but it's worth it!
And now I will try to briefly "introduce" at least some of the best hotels in Las Vegas.
CAESARS PALASE 5*
In my concept - a hotel museum.
And inside you will find another miracle - the "flower show", as we called it. It is a great pleasure to wander between these floral masterpieces, and when you realize that all this splendor is really "alive", you completely lose the feeling of reality! Well, how can you create all this! ? Simply bliss!
Needless to say, this hotel hosts the Cirque du Soleil "O" show. My husband, who has reviewed all the shows in the city, claims that this is the best.
MANDALAY BAY 4*
Of course, the name of this hotel is well known among fans of "big" boxing, because all the most prestigious professional fights have been held here for many years. But, most likely, few people know that this hotel also has a museum of professional boxing. It is not big, but true connoisseurs of this sport and not only, I advise you to visit this place.
This hotel also has the "Shark Reef" oceanarium, it's clear that there are similar things in the world and cooler, but this one deserves the attention of fans of such structures, especially considering that it was built in the desert.
Next to Mandalay is the Luxor Hotel, which is also interesting and unusual, and there is also a 4D cinema of the highest category.
PARIS 4*
This hotel represents, both inside and out, a "little" Paris. O! how pleasant it is to wander around and admire the streets of this city, survey its sights, and also get acquainted with the details that have already been invented especially for Vegas guests.
In this hotel in the restaurant "Napoleon" we happened to visit an official dinner hosted by SONY. It is clear that the reception was at a high level and everyone was satisfied and could appreciate the quality of it and enjoy the culinary excesses.
NEW YORK NEW YORK 4*
This is another "city within a city", and it is recreated so realistically that when you "wander through the streets of New York", you can even contemplate the steam coming out of the hatches under your feet - well, how everything is thought out to the smallest detail! It's great that there are such dreamers who make us a holiday! Of course, it should be noted that this hotel has a rollercoaster ride. If you like this type of event, I definitely recommend visiting! Not only is it a thrill, but also the opportunity to "fly" over the city center!
Again, this hotel hosts the Cirque du Soleil "ZUMANITY" show.
By the way, there are also slides in the SAHARA hotel, and in the CIRCUS hotel you can jump head down on a rope.
THE VENETIAN 5*
I think you guessed that this is another "city in miniature". The scale of this hotel defies any description, I can only say that inside it "laid" channels along which gondolas run, led by singing gondoliers. And what a sky!
It is simply impossible to tear yourself away from it! You look and do not believe your eyes - the clouds are floating! But how is this possible, because this sky is frescoes painted on the ceiling? The hotel is a must visit!
By the way, only in this hotel we found a cafe where you can drink real espresso - in other places, exclusively local bourda, which they proudly call "coffee".
"Venice" is connected with the new fashionable PALAZZO hotel, which also has something to see - some waterfalls and fountains are worth it! This is a real palace!
STRATOSPHERE 3*
No thrill-seeker has the right to ignore this hotel, because at an altitude of 360 meters there are rides that are among the ten most extreme in the world. A good portion of adrenaline is guaranteed to you! Naturally, we visited it, and also experienced all the pleasures that these attractions offer, including the contemplation of Las Vegas from a bird's eye view.
This hotel is located away from the very center of the city, and we got there on the monorail that runs from the BALLY’S hotel to SAHARA. True, from the end point you still have to walk a little.
Not far from the hotel, we had a small incident. Returning from the "Stratosphere" to the monorail, my husband felt thirsty - we went to a roadside shop and bought beer. It was strange that it was served to us in an opaque paper bag (strange, because in the city center they sell beer and other alcoholic drinks without them, since drinks are allowed right on the street there). I suggested that maybe you shouldn't drink beer here. To which I was answered: "What am I here for the first time? In Vegas, you can drink beer everywhere. " Well, "everywhere", so "everywhere". Directly without departing from the store, the "sufferer" began to quench his thirst by throwing the bag into the trash.
Immediately, a shop assistant girl appeared, lit a cigarette and said: “You can’t openly drink beer here, of course you can do it, but I feel sorry for your 50 dollars, as I will have to pay a fine. ” The started bottle immediately flew away after the package. Suddenly, a "cop" grew out of the ground and began to move in our direction. The kind girl immediately loudly informed him that the man was drinking beer (oh, those law-abiding Americans). Thank God, the incident was over before it even started. So, please be careful with this matter.
MGM GRAND 4*
The symbol of this hotel is a lion. Most likely, because there is a huge cage inside (if you can call this glass structure that way) with live lions. At one time, people lived there with animals, which could be observed at least around the clock. Real show "Behind the glass! ".
There is also an "attraction" RAINFOREST.
It is difficult to describe what it is, it would be more correct to say that this is a "Jungle" created inside the hotel for entertainment and spectacle - children like it the most.
Also, this hotel is the show "KA" Cirque du Soleil.
WYNN 5*
This is a chic hotel with an interior worthy of attention - there is something to admire. There is even a toilet (sorry for such details), like a museum.
In addition, from the balcony of one of the bars, you can watch a holographic show - very unusual and unexpected!
This hotel hosts the show "LE REVE", which is not the property of Cirque du Soleil, but is in no way inferior in quality and entertainment. I did not have the honor to see him (one cannot embrace the immensity), but my husband, who reviewed everything in Vegas and can compare, said that it was very worthy.
TREASURE ISLAND 4*
The main thing that I liked about this hotel is the ship show, which takes place several times in the evening every day at the entrance to the hotel.
Of course, I'm not the only one who likes this spectacle, therefore, there you will also have to take an advantageous position for viewing in advance, but it's worth it! Please note that if the weather is windy, the show will be canceled for safety reasons.
This hotel hosts the Cirque du Soleil show "MYSTERE".
7. HOME!
Leaving behind us a big fairy tale, we with our "small" luggage stepped outside the hotel and got into a taxi, which immediately drove up to us. The driver of this turned out to be a real cowboy in the appropriate outfit, most likely a Texan. We said we were going to the airport. All the way he tried to talk to us, but no matter how hard I tried, I did not understand a word - the accent was terrible. His speech was like a broken record. But the worst thing about this is that I couldn’t understand what exactly he was asking us about the landing site (at least cry! ). I decided to do what I thought was reasonable in that situation and just showed him our tickets.
He studied them for a long time, then nodded his head meaningfully. All this did not help us at all, because in the end, he dropped us off at the wrong terminal anyway.
Oh sadness! With huge luggage and tormented hikes by long-suffering legs, we had to climb downhill for at least a kilometer.
Thank God, we are on the spot, but here, in principle, the expected surprise awaits us - our luggage is seven kilograms heavier than it should be. We have to get out of the situation and unload shoes from the suitcase (what is the heaviest) into packages prepared for such a case.
Huh! That's all for now - see you soon, Las Vegas!
* * *
P. S. Las Vegas is a city of shows, a city of celebration, a city of extravaganza in which life is in full swing around the clock! Each hotel is trying to attract the attention of visitors with something unusual and amazing, moreover, all these unusual things change - either the surroundings, or the design, or the exhibitions.
It can not be such that once visited and there is nothing more to see. In a year you can come and everything will be different - new hotels, new spectacles. Unique city!
There, even just wandering around is interesting - either a procession of brides, or a chic wedding, or some kind of "mummers", or a race of bikers who roar through the streets with the roar of their handsome iron horses. Then huge cars go, taking off from the music included in them to the fullest. It's just eyes wide open! Can you describe all the impressions! ?
Most of all, the scale of magnificence, the quality of the embodiment of the "miracle of engineering", human imagination, amaze the imagination, you constantly think: "Well, wow - "stupid" Americans! "
Again, one of the main unusual moments - with a round-the-clock continuous carnival and mass movement, the city is perfectly clean, while it is not visible and it is not clear when it is being cleaned. It seems that everything is done by itself.
No riots and offenses are visible, moreover, the policemen are not conspicuous by their presence.
This is a city in which you feel completely free, from which you want to fly.
Of course, there are a huge number of expensive shows, but there are a lot of free ones too. We saw so many interesting, beautiful, unusual things that we considered it necessary to lose some amount of money in the casino in order to "pay" for the pleasures.
It is useless to describe - it must be seen! ! !
I hope I awakened this thought in you?
