To Washington from the airport
The banal cancellation of the flight and the delay for a day did a good job - the opportunity to visit Washington.
Getting from Dulles airport to the center was very easy, fast and inexpensive. 10 tanks - a shuttle bus from the airport to the metro station and 4 tanks - the metro itself. We left the subway directly to the central alley - on the one hand - the Capitol, on the other - the Washington Monument. We walked along the alley - well, it's spacious, but ...quite simply. A huge expanse of bare and not very well-groomed grass. We approached the White House. Also simple, but not huge. Walked to the Capitol. It's already massive.
The city is intelligently built, wide, spacious streets, there is no crowding. There is no flight of fancy either. I prefer the small, cozy format. The city tour was a success.
Along this most central alley there are numerous museums, many of which are free. I went to the National Gallery of Art (free).
The credit card suddenly rebelled, and there was very little cash (((. The museum is spacious, modern, a lot of interesting things. The halls of modern art amused. There are really interesting things about 10 percent, but the rest ...Throw such an exhibit in the trash - no one will pick it up))). I'm talking about the smaller building (I forgot which one is east and which is west).
But in another building - a huge collection of paintings of all times and peoples, there are the most famous names. To be more precise, almost all the most famous artists are represented. Just dizzy from such abundance. There was no longer enough strength for sculpture and graphics. Still, the sleepless night made itself felt.
The moral is this - if there is an 8-hour break between planes in Washington, then you can safely (and should) go to the city. There is something to see in museums and in the city itself.
