Khortytsya Island - the cradle of Ukrainian culture
Very often we travel thousands of kilometers from our own city to plunge into the history of other countries and peoples, see sights and historical monuments... As they say, "the grass is always greener in someone else's yard. "
In order to somehow change this situation and increase patriotism and pride in our Motherland, we went to the island of Khortytsya in the city of Zaporozhye, the cradle of Ukrainian culture, the homeland of the Zaporozhye Cossacks...
By noon on July 5, our team was already listening with interest to the melodious Ukrainian speech of the guide in the museum of the Zaporizhzhya Sich, from which they learned about the customs and peculiarities of the life of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, saw their national clothes, money, interior items...
Then there was an excursion around the island of Khortytsya, during which we were shown the burial mounds and the reconstruction (collective image) of the Zaporozhye settlement, told about the functions of each object.
On the island, we bought wonderful souvenirs - magnets, dishes, smoking pipes, nose warmers, jewelry and much more...
And the final chord of our trip was the "Ukrainian pledge", where we were expected by a horse show from real Cossacks (and even young Cossacks) and, finally, a tasting of a signature dish - I did not remember the name. ; )
On the territory of "Zalogues" there was an opportunity to purchase products from the hands of a blacksmith (horseshoes, candlesticks, jewelry), a potter (magnets, amulets), a weaver (national shirts, shirts, towels) and so on.
Feeding squirrels and horses brought a lot of joy! By the way, everyone could ride the "Cossack" horses.
In the evening, pleasantly tired, we went home in anticipation of the next weekend trip. =)
