About food. Lutsk. Vareniki HERE
Like any Ukrainian, I really like to eat delicious food. And in this sense, I always suffer, being away from my native home - well, how can there be no usual food in the “foreign land”? Therefore, it is always important for me to know the "bread places" in other cities and countries too. And that is why I want to encourage everyone to share their gastronomic impressions, for which it may be worth starting to write reports in a separate topic “About food”? We also have about “My City”. But this is so, side note.
On one of my visits to Lutsk, I liked one place there called “Dumplings here” (located on the third floor of the shopping center on Volya Avenue (not Pavel)) - in the building of the former Central Department Store. But for some reason, it was not possible to visit it then. But on the next trip at the end of September, everything worked out!
I know that the same “Dumplings here” are in Lvov, Odessa and Kyiv.
The one in which I was, I liked first of all with the surroundings: all surfaces are lined with ceramic tiles with traditional motifs for the Carpathian region in beige-green-brown colors. On huge food warmers (these are things that keep warming up food all the time) - bowls (! ), in which dumplings float in oil, and many other “non-boiled” foods. This is fast food, so everything is simple: come, take a plate, put food for yourself, pay at the checkout, sit down, eat. But just at first glance. Because in none of the fast foods I have visited before you are offered to pour sour cream from a ceramic jug - a fleck in our opinion. There is always portion packaging. And here - don't feel sorry for your "calloused" Ukrainian hand, and, as you know, it will not flinch ... ) None of the fast foods immediately have as many as 17 varieties of dumplings (I admit that there were even more of them, we are in what - we got tired of counting the moment).
Moreover, not only are dumplings with a variety of fillings, but all sorts of additives like cracklings, fried onions, or sweet ones - jam, sour cream, honey, sugar, etc. God, I can’t bring myself to call all this splendor just onions, cracklings, honey ...They look exactly like onions, cracklings, honey-sugar, etc.
The plates in "Vareniki tut", I must say, are huge. And as we suggested, this is most likely such a subtle marketing ploy: 3 dumplings, which I modestly put myself at the beginning, looked somehow quite lonely on this huge plate. And even 6 pcs. were also orphans. But 9 dumplings already looked more or less decent. And since 100 gr. any food (or drink) here costs 7.00 UAH, then you can easily buy at first, and then gobble up half a kilo of dumplings, and you won’t notice how.
From the "other" food here were fresh lard (!
), black and homemade sausage (! ), lard with garlic (! ), herring with onions, potatoes in uniforms, Ukrainian borscht (thick, like at home), home-made salted tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms ...You can’t count everything, and the conclusion one - all this must be eaten!
And dumplings! The thinnest dough, a lot of toppings, juicy, fresh. The young ladies from the staff claim that they are made by hand, however, they are molded somewhere else, and they are only brought here for sale. I am not a big fan of this hit of national cuisine, but dumplings with cherries exceeded all my expectations. The second lover of delicious food treated himself to dumplings with potatoes and mushrooms, cheese, and cabbage. At the same time, he took cracklings, sour cream, fried onions, and ghee to them. Together with lemonade, lunch cost us only 65 UAH. To say that we overeat is to say nothing. BUT: important warning! When eaten, the dumplings burst and splatter with oil (as sometimes happens with the "Cutlet in Kiev"). Take care of your clothes!
We had a dress and tie “marked”, but everything was easily washed at home.
Another useful option: you can buy both ready-made food and semi-finished food to go.
PS: Sorry that the pictures had to be pulled from the Internet (I understand that this is completely incorrect, but I simply did not come up with another option). Pacified by delicious food, she did not dare to make her own. But the admiration remains. Therefore, so that the story does not turn out to be “naked”, I decided to illustrate it like this. In order not to feel like a complete plagiarism, I give a link where the pictures were stolen from: http://www. volynpost. com/articles/218-varenyky-tut-smakota-po-ukrainsky - it's up to the admin to judge whether it is possible or not to do this.
PS. PS. : I have no personal interest in advertising this institution. I just really liked it then. But, as life has shown, there are other interesting places ...And also "dumplings" .. .
