I stayed at the Express Hotel at the South Station (Kharkov) for the second time. And again, she did not disappoint me at all! Again, as in 2016, I spent all three nights quite comfortably during my 4-day visit to Kharkiv. Lived in a 1-bed room (for 350 UAH per day). True, the bathroom was shared with the next room, but since no one lived in it, they did not experience any inconvenience.

The room had everything you need for a normal life. In addition to a comfortable bed, the room had a table, two chairs, a wardrobe with a sufficient number of "hangers", a bedside table for all sorts of little things. There is a TV. The floor is linoleum. The room was clean and tidy.
The bed linen was new and clean, there were enough towels, the TV worked. Hot water was around the clock, the bathroom was cleaned daily. Lighting (discharge lamps on the ceiling and "sconces" - 2 pieces) worked.
During the days of my stay in Kharkov, it was, as I understand it, “anomalously cool - only +17 - +18 °C. But the room was warmer and the coolness of the street was not felt at all. In 2016, it’s up to +40 ° C outside, and the temperature in the room is almost the same as on this visit, that is, it’s hot and stuffy, as it wasn’t outside. Excellent, that means, in terms of its "residential characteristics", the building was built at one time by Soviet builders!
It would not hurt, however, to update the wallpaper on the walls. Too bad they are too old. Yes, and there is no shower cabin as such - there is no partition that would separate the corner from the shower of the rest of the bathroom. A drain was provided for the water, through which it quickly left, and the small amount that remained quickly dried up. But for me it's the little things. Yes, and on business trips you need to be able to "moderate your appetites. "
The hotel staff was polite and friendly and met my requests with understanding. It was very pleasant to communicate!
Thank you dear!
All the best!
Sincerely, Alexander, Lviv.

I was in Kharkov in transit and stayed at the Express Hotel, because. it is not far from the train station. The "democratic price" of the room also played a role. This is where the positives of the hotel end. Of the minuses: 1. The walls are thin and you could hear the snoring of a person from the next room all night.

Of the minuses:
1. The walls are thin and you could hear the snoring of a person from the next room all night. 2. The room is dirty and didn't even have a trash can. 3. The bathroom, to put it mildly, is not very comfortable.

During my short stay in Kharkov, I chose the Express Hotel for an overnight stay, because it is located near the Lokomotiv Sports Complex (15 minutes on foot), in which the 9th Spartakiad of Ukrainian Railway Workers was held on August 5-7.2016, in which I hosted participation like a cheerleader. At first, when looking for a shelter, however, I was alerted by negative reviews 2 years ago about my predecessors staying in it - about dirt in the bathrooms, rudeness of staff, fungus, etc.

Friends, I don’t know how anyone managed it before, but now everything is completely different.
On the part of the attendants (the administrator and those on duty on the floor), there was only politeness, understanding of requests and courtesy in relation to me. My room (and the bathroom shared with the next room) was clean. The bed linen was new and there were plenty of towels. The fact that the furniture in the room was far from new and the wallpaper, in places, hung from the walls in small pieces, and a cement floor peeked out from under the torn linoleum (although this gap was covered with a rug) - well, it didn’t matter to me. I had to spend the night in my life in places in comparison with which all this was sheer nonsense.
The TV was quite modern and worked properly. The room was not stuffy, despite the Kharkiv +38. True, there was no shower as such in the bathroom: in the opposite corner from the washbasin and WC there was a pipe with taps, a pipe and a siphon, and there was no fence. Because of what, in the process, the entire other available area of u200bu200bthe bathroom is doused with water. But for me, again, this was not a problem. Plumbing is not new, but not old, not "broken".
In general - you can live there and it's not even bad!
If you are not choosy and you are tight with money - feel free to stop at the "Express"!

Stayed in a double room for 285gr. Cons: (there are a lot of them, and you can’t list them all) 1. The administrator is an aged woman who has long lost the desire to communicate with customers, is rude, rude. (maybe we were so lucky and we got into her shift) 2. The elevator is old, while you are going to your floor, you will remember all the prayers that you know.

The elevator is old, while you are going to your floor, you will remember all the prayers that you know. the feeling is about to stop and you're stuck there. 3. Shower - together with a toilet. Well, like a shower, you wash yourself right at the toilet, there is a hole on the floor and that's it. hot water must be turned on half an hour in advance, since water takes a very long time to reach the 13th floor. no toilet paper. about rubber, or at least about any slippers, you can not even dream of. 4. Number. Old and dirty wallpaper, we pushed the beds away so as not to touch the wall. Beds are creaky. There is a TV, but it turns off by itself every 15 minutes. Pros: 1. At the station. This is a huge plus. I think everyone stops there on the basis of this! 2. Feeling as if you were in the Soviet Union! ))

Again I had to visit Kharkov. This time the choice fell on the Express Hotel. The 14-storey hotel is located in the railway complex. station. We planned to leave at 4 o'clock in the morning by train, so this option of settlement is very convenient. Unfortunately, this is the only advantage of the hotel. The rooms are very hot.

The rooms are very hot. You won’t get any relief by opening the window - it’s very noisy both day and night. On the one hand, the station square, on the other, the busy highway Poltava Way and, of course, the railway. Rooms with shabby wallpaper and traces of drips. Shower and toilet for three rooms one (promised for two). The room was not cleaned during the day, there is no elementary trash can. In the common corridor there is a small bucket "miracle with a pedal" for three rooms - the garbage is naturally next to the bucket, it's good if it's in a bag. From the "toilet shower" a fetid sewer smell spreads through the rooms.
Hotel workers said that there were vacant rooms for all 18 years of the hotel's existence, but upon arrival at 5 in the morning they stood until 6-15 until the tenants began to move out after the opening of the metro. In general, if you spend the night or “change before the train leaves, ” then I recommend it, but if you live, it’s not the best choice and not exactly cheap. In reality, the cost of such a room should be two times lower.

We stayed with my mother, as we left early and arrived spontaneously, there was no longer any strength or time to look for other options. As a result, the shower is dirty and smelly, one for 2 rooms. There were drunken men in the next room, and the doors of ours were held by a thread. They slept dressed and still the next morning everyone was bitten by bedbugs.

There were drunken men in the next room, and the doors of ours were held by a thread. They slept dressed and still the next morning everyone was bitten by bedbugs. At discharge, two women came up and quarreled with the administrator about the fact that they were robbed - gypsies wandered along the corridor. And the situation on their doors with a lock was the same. Now the video advertisement of the Express at the Kharkov railway station looks especially funny.
