Some time after booking a room on Booking, entering the payment card details and receiving confirmation, they called me from the hotel and said that they could not accommodate me, because supposedly someone else had booked this room through Booking before me. It sounds extremely implausible, even when buying tickets at the cinema, they are blocked at the time of purchase and no one else can buy them. I do not believe that in booking the situation of simultaneous booking of the same room by two people is possible. I'm sure my room was given to someone who paid for it at the hotel, because in this case she gets the full price and does not pay a booking fee.
I contacted the booking support service, because if I did not arrive at the hotel, they could charge me the full cost of the stay, since the reservation was confirmed, and I did not check into the hotel. Booking staff contacted the hotel and confirmed that I was not expected there. Booking offered me another accommodation option that did not suit me.
