From the Kiev spring
Winter is not in a hurry to leave us. But the day is longer, the sun is brighter. Birds are chirping like spring, icicles are melting. Another symbol of spring is missing. These are, of course, spring flowers. Can you see them in a big city? Yes, sure. For example, in the Kyiv Botanical Garden. Grishko. And capture it in a photo so that you can mentally return to spring whenever you want.
At all times there were enthusiasts, whose forces embodied the most daring ideas and projects. One of these personalities was Volodymyr Ippolitovich Lipsky, a world famous florist, traveler, a great connoisseur of all the botanical gardens of the world, later the first president of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Now the Kyiv Botanical Garden is a unique collection, numbering approximately 11180 taxa, belonging to 220 families and 1347 genera. All this economy is effectively managed by 8 scientific departments of the institute.
You can take a sightseeing tour to get acquainted with the history of the creation of the botanical garden, its structure, magnificent landscapes with their seasonal changes, visit places where turning points in historical events took place, from princely times to the present day. On the territory of the "Red Court" from the observation deck, Kyiv is visible at a glance. On a thematic excursion, one gets acquainted with plants - representatives of the unique flora of various geographical regions, in particular, the Ukrainian Carpathians, Crimea, the Steppes of Ukraine, Altai and Western Siberia, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Far East. Students will certainly be interested in thematic excursions: the use of woody plants in the process of creating landscape design; various types of landscapes; competent design of the environment; flower and decorative compositions; the art of landscape compositions; permanent exhibitions; autumn landscapes; eminent landscape specialists; expositions of the outstanding botanist S. S. Kharkevich; plants listed in the Red Book and extremely rare introducers; exposition of medicinal, spicy-aromatic (taste), fodder and non-traditional vegetable crops; decorative gardening.
A sightseeing tour of the greenhouse building brings to your attention an exposition of exotic tropical and subtropical vegetation: tropical rainforests; orchidarium; representatives of plants of aroid areas (cacti and succulents); fruit tropical and subtropical plants; compositions of azaleas and camellias. On the territory of the botanical garden is the Holy Trinity Ioninsky Monastery.

The greenhouse complex is open to the public daily from 11:00 to 17:00, on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00.
