"Pearl" of Podillya.
A spontaneous trip to Kamianets-Podilskyi was a discovery of Ukrainian Podillya for us.
Of course, the main attraction of the city - the Old Fortress, which should not just visit, but also take a guide (costs 50 gr. ) And listen to an interesting story about this building and its history, as well as the history of the city. for 20 gr. ). . ). I definitely advise you to walk around the fortress in comfortable shoes on all sides after a tour of it.
In general, the whole center of the Old Town is a monument. It is very interesting to wander there and look at everything carefully. It is also interesting to look in public places - there may be a view, a kind of museum. A striking example is the cafe "Coffee from the police chief". Also the hotel "Hetman", where we stayed (a story about him separately in the relevant section).
It should be noted that we were there before the season opened.
As we were told, its opening is scheduled for April 16.
Due to this, many interesting places were not opened, including good restaurants. We were there for my husband's birthday, a poet, this question was more than relevant for us. As a result, we decided (due to the meager choice of such places at the time) to celebrate it in the restaurant of the hotel "Taras Bulba". Unfortunately, we were disappointed with both the service (despite the empty halls) and the kitchen. As a result, we had to celebrate at the hotel with, bought in a local store, smoked mackerel, bread, a jar of cucumbers, etc. , which seemed to us much tastier and more emotional. Of course, I have no moral right to advise this restaurant now.
And now about the nice. Despite the crazy bad weather (then the wind was "raging", even demolished several roofs and hail) - the town made the best impression on us!
I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and well-kept everything was.
Although, in fairness, I must note that many facilities in the center are still under repair and restoration. But, I consider it a plus, because it is clear that the city is cared for. Even the souvenir bazaar near the town hall is decorated with such a soul and imagination that it's just pleasing to the eye.
I definitely recommend, as far as possible (30 km from Kamianets-Podilskyi), go to Khotyn. There is also an ancient castle, which, of course, in size, inferior to the Kamyanets-Podilsky fortress, but the beauty - not at all! He's just completely different! He stunned us with his majesty and puzzled us with questions on the topic: "How could it be built in those days, and even right over such a fast and powerful river? ». Do not forget to go around everything in the district (always in comfortable shoes), otherwise you will lose a lot!
I strongly recommend visiting this corner in the Ukrainian Podillya!
Don't forget to visit the old church and other sights in the city, as well as walk along the river and admire the natural canyon that frames it.
Once again we fell in love with Ukraine - an amazing and unique country!
