The latter. Two poles of impressions
The first pole. Negative. We gathered in a friendly company and went to Opishnya for the Eighth International Gastronomic Festival "Borschik in a clay pot".
Unfortunately, the reality was not at all like our tasty expectations. The festival became just a classic illustration on "how to spoil a good idea with bad organization and communication".
First, for 100 hryvnias of an entrance ticket, you get the opportunity to go to a small area of the ethno-estate, where many people are already crowding without you.
Next, this exclusive entrance ticket provides standing in long queues for the right to buy a soup ladle for 50 hryvnias, dumplings for 10 hryvnias apiece or a small piece of cow for 50 hryvnias. Then the quest "find a free stump" to eat without standing.
We will mournfully keep silent about sanitary conditions, toilets, etc.
So, having eaten our portion of borscht (like we didn't go in vain! ), we left. Tasting of 80 types of borscht (in theory free), any festive and ceremonial actions, stories of hosts from different regions and holding master classes promised by the program, was not discussed at all.
But given that everyone was humorous about this failed experience, the issue could be considered closed. But the reaction of the organizers to the well-deserved criticism was significant (because the very idea of the festival is really cool and deserves all the support).
A Poltava journalist who wrote about her impressions was accused of ordering an article. I was told in the style of "fool himself" and "should be supported, not criticized. "
At this time, the main organizer cheerfully kicked the Facebook air with positive impressions from the co-organizers and announced the next festival in 2022.
That is, no one was going to draw conclusions, as well as to correct organizational mistakes.
Moreover, by delving into the reviews of other victims (who is interested, you can read the comments here and here ), it turned out that the main claims are repeated year after year. Loh - not a mammoth, loh - will not die?
For my part, I can only help to keep the number of frustrated mammoths to a minimum. So I do ANTI advertising. Bypass the Opishnya borsch festival on the tenth road. Because this is the case when you need to learn from other people's mistakes: ))
>
The other pole. Positive.
We went to the Pottery Museum to save our impressions of Opishna (by the way, most of the victims of the borsch festival did so).
A small historical digression.
Opishnya , although the inhabitants themselves use the ancient ethnographic name Opishne , is one of the oldest settlements in Poltava region. According to archeological finds found on the outskirts of the village, this area has been inhabited since Neolithic times. It was in the Neolithic period that ceramic ware became widely used. Even the name of the town comes from the name of the plastic clay "crucible".
National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery was founded in 1986 and now has more than 60.000 items.
Since 1997, the museum will hold symposiums for ceramists.
The masters come to Opishny, create competitive works in the residence equipped with everything necessary and replenish the local exhibition fund. Now Opishnya has the largest collection of garden and park monumental clay sculptures in Europe (over 300 works).
Visitors are greeted by the work of Sergei Radko "Armor of Prince Igor", which is also called a knight and guardian of the museum.
You can include fantasy here, because we missed the plaque with the author and the name of the sculpture. But this horse (? ), Trying to get up from the ground, is emotionally attached.

By the way, the museum presents sculptures not only created during the symposiums, but also transferred by artists for storage.
Ceramist Halyna Klombytska did the same with the potter's sculpture, which used to decorate the courtyard of the Budyansk Faience Factory.
Pottery kiln for firing pottery. It was built according to the sketches of buildings of the late 19th - early 20th centuries.

The work is reminiscent of the figures of Scythian women, which our ancestors built in the steppes.
Note that a woman holds a horn of plenty in her hands, while by all canons it is the prerogative of men only. That is, the potter in his composition rethinks the role of women and gives her the ability not only to protect the land, but also to give her wealth.

Vasil Omelyanenko "The Lion with Two Heads":
Large ceramics are usually made according to the designer's principle, burning individual parts and connecting them, but this sculpture is an exception because it is monolithic.
To provide stability to the work, two frames were made: wooden and metal. A temporary furnace was also built above the left.
During the burning, the wooden frame burned and gave off its heat to "burn" the work from the inside, and the metal structure remained to hold the sculpture.
The museum building houses a collection of pottery and decorative panels.
At the entrance we are greeted by singing Cossacks))
Notice the bowl (wooden unglazed shelves) on which the lady usually displayed her best dishes.
Train your attention and find the place:
- milkman (with the obligatory cross from betrothal);
- market with tulle (this is an ancient frying pan);
- pots - twins, which carried food in the field (the presence of two separate containers allowed to combine different dishes in the menu);
- barrel (stored drinks and had the shape of a barrel);
- flatbread (also used for storage of beverages and had a flattened, flattened shape);
- Kumanets (differs among other vessels by opening in the form of a ring). Kumanets were very comfortable to wear, worn on the arm, because it was usually used when entertaining a large number of guests. For example, a wedding father could put on his hand several kumans with different drinks and go to treat guests.
I wonder what is the town in the Turkish center of pottery? and the hole in the middle of them symbolizes the sun (our interpretations are more practical, eh? : )).
Among the portraits of presidents who once visited the Museum of Pottery was Yuri Poshivailo's work "DNA of my family" made of "coins".
There are no identical bowls in the panel, because each person's genetic code is unique.
*** coin - is a miniature example of pottery, which was used as a children's toy. At fairs, it usually cost a penny, hence its name.

Let's move on.
