I love autumn. . . and not just a season of the year, but a state of mind. Nature reveals its last beauty, calms down for a while, finds harmony and merges with man. Both of them are a little sad that summer is leaving along with the warmth, and with it the bright colors of the bustling life. And how unfulfilled hopes fall from the trees leaves, gently rustling under your feet, and you again think about the meaning of life and the inviolability of being. . . At such moments I am irresistibly drawn to nature, I want to retire with it and just dissolve in this slightly sad autumn melody.

This time I was drawn to the steppe canyons to see the colors of autumn. And not just in the canyons, but in the valley of the Devil. It is very easy to get to this place: go to the Nikolaev region, Voznesensky district, the village of Trikraty. Well, then along the paving stones to the village of Aktove (well, we don’t have roads, no - and that’s it! ).

The first miracle of nature that we met on the way is Arbuzinsky Canyon, the so-called "Small" canyon, which got its name because of its proximity to the "Big" canyon , menacingly called the Devil's Canyon. By the way, both of these canyons are part of the Bugsky Gard National Natural Park, which I told a little about in my previous the story of Migei.

Arbuzinsky Canyon is more than four billion years old. It was formed as a result of volcanic activity that acted on almost the entire surface of the Earth. And for centuries, the waters of the Southern Bug made their way through the stones, gradually washing out the gorges. This is how the Arbuzinsky Canyon appeared, which got its name thanks to the Arbuzinka River, which divides the rocks of the canyon into two parts. By the way, in this place you get beautiful photos, and you can enjoy beautiful views.

At the bottom of the canyon, washed by water, huge stones covered with moss gradually formed.

Many boulders of the canyon have names, for example: Skovoroda, Stone bag, Mother-in-law tongue. If you believe the tales, then ancient pagan rituals even took place in this place, and the sacrificial stones served as a place of sacrifice.

The rocks form something like a natural labyrinth, it is extremely difficult for me to squeeze between some of the cracks.

By the way, there is a part of this canyon even in Austria. Vienna hosts an exhibition of stones from all over the world, and the stone that symbolizes Europe was taken from here.

After admiring the small canyon, we go to see the big Devil's canyon, located in the valley of the same name.

Devil's Canyon is cut by a river with the no less terrifying name Mertvod, along which, according to legend, the Scythians sent their rulers on their last journey. Well, apparently, because of such a ritual, the river got its name.

Aktovsky canyon impresses with its size. With a depth of 50 meters, it is the only one similar to the famous canyons of North America in its landscape. Such a Grand Canyon in miniature.

It is full of tourists at any time of the year. But due to the difficult terrain, in order to go down, you need to get involved in rock climbing, otherwise you simply risk falling off the rocks. But among climbers, these rocks are very popular. The people below seem to be midgets.

The canyon is very unusual in that it grows in a valley in the middle of the steppe, maybe that's why it is called the Devil's Canyon, although I didn't notice anything diabolical there. On the contrary, it is quite a bewitching natural phenomenon. Beautiful! And you don't need to go to Colorado.

After the canyons, I advise everyone to stop by the Trikrat forest - labyrinth for walks and a picnic. This forest, completely unusual for the steppe regions, was carefully created and raised by the landowner and leader of the Kherson nobility Viktor Skarzhinsky. Collecting plants bit by bit from all over the world, he brought them to his native lands, and deeply studying botany, he created entire forests. And now we have the opportunity to relax in such places, enjoying the beauty of nature.
