Our last day was entirely dedicated to the city of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky. Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky is a small but very beautiful and interesting city in Ukraine. It is rightly called the city of museums - there are about 30. For Ukraine, this is an absolute record "per capita" - one museum per thousand inhabitants. The most famous is the main tourist attraction of the city - the ethnographic museum of folk architecture and life (in the open air), which belongs to the largest museums in Ukraine. You can feel the spirit of antiquity and history in the city, because it is over 1100 years old! Tired of the noise and bustle of big cities, you can be guided by the silence of the streets and the fresh air of the town.
Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky is an amazing city: small, very clean, neat, you could even say - a toy. Maybe because of the large number of museums and ancient buildings or because of the antiquity of this area - in the city you do not feel that now is the XXI century. Shevchenko, Skovoroda, Sholom Aleichem, Zabolotny and many other great Ukrainians lived and worked here.
Crimea museums and exhibitions, in this beautiful town, in summer resembles a flowering garden, you will find the remains of buildings of the X-XI centuries. , as well as architectural monuments dating from the XVII century. : Church of St. Michael and the Ascension Monastery.
The rivers Trubizh, Karan and Alta slowly carry their waters through ancient Pereyaslav. The southern part of the suburbs is located near the mighty lake of the Kaniv reservoir. Covered with willows and sedges, the shores of the reservoirs create a special mood: there is silence, peace and harmony.
No wonder the residents of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and other big cities come here on weekends to rest from the crazy rhythm and excessive noise. Many are also attracted by the opportunity to visit the local market, as Pereyaslav region belongs to the ecologically clean areas of Ukraine. Peasants from the surrounding villages are going to trade in the center of a large agricultural region.
Approximately 30.000 people live in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky. The capital of Ukraine - Kiev is only 112 kilometers.
You can get to Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky from Kyiv by minibus, which departs from the metro station "Chernihivska", the journey will take you about an hour and a half.
Pereyaslav was first mentioned in chronicles in 907 in the treaty of Prince Oleg with Byzantium.
What to do in the city:
- to buy in the glorious Dnieper, because here it is much cleaner than in the capital;
- take photos at art benches near the park near the Diorama Museum. They are decorated with creative drawings and inscriptions, wrought-iron sculptures around them. For several years now, the shops have become a favorite place for tourists and locals to take pictures;
- ride a horse-drawn carriage through the city. In Pereyaslav there is an exclusive taxi driver who takes people around the city on horseback near a special carriage. It is easy to recognize him by authentic Ukrainian clothes and Ukrainian wedding music, which is still a bit far away. The price for such pleasure is very symbolic and depends on the mood of the owner of this wonder;
- play the piano in the city center. It is usually placed on the stage in the center, or near the benches from above. Anyone can play for free - this is an initiative of the local art union "Jam Toloka".
I would like to say that this union itself delights the audience with its concerts, which take place near the district house of culture almost every weekend. There is often a free microphone. So come and show your talent to Pereyaslav!
We started the day with a tour of the underground Pereyaslav. Visited the ruins of the "Shevchenko" chapel (aphid complex of the former Ascension Monastery))
Then we had an excursion to the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Dnieper - this is the first open-air museum in Ukraine, here are exhibits from 10-13 AD. BC and until the last century.
There are also transferred houses of the XIX century, transferred to the museum from the village. The boys we swam over last day.
Pereyaslav National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve - official site http:// www. niez. com. ua .
Also in Pereyaslav is a memorial sign of the first chronicle of the word "Ukraine" (1187).
It's sad that he is very inconspicuous as such a significant event, it's sad that no one is interested in it and a meter away there is garbage and broken bottles of alcohol.
Then we visited the Ascension Cathedral. It was built at the expense of Mazepa, where he also transported the Peresopnytsia Gospel, the sacred book of Ukraine, to which the presidents swear (it is now in Kyiv).
An interesting exhibit is the so-called Oak of the Ukrainian Nation. This tree is located near Mazepa Cathedral, was born in the same period as the Ascension Cathedral itself and is probably part of the unrealized grand plans of the Ukrainian hetman for Ukraine. Hryhoriy Skovoroda taught near this oak, it was painted by Taras Shevchenko.
The tree has three trunks, like the Trident, but got its name from the connection with Mazepa, Skovoroda, Shevchenko.
Later we visited the museum of the "Testament" of T. Shevchenko. In Pereyaslav on the night of December 24-25.1845, the poet wrote his immortal "Testament". Works such as "The Mercenary" and "The Caucasus" were also written here.
Finally, we gave a press conference in the meeting hall of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky District State Administration. We were asked many questions, which we gladly answered.
We want to thank you:
- to the public initiative "Root of the Nation", in particular to Mykola Bohatyr - our coordinator)))
- Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky District State Administration, driver and photographer.
- Hotel "Pectoral" by the way, we lived here, also at the hotel there is a cafe-confectionery "Pectoral".
