The penultimate day. About the last 100 km and the most photogenic castle.
The penultimate day of the route, what is it? It is already light, fast-moving and full of thoughts about the house!
Today is our last active day of travel. Tomorrow we will have a festive bike marathon and the grand finale of our route!
Well, today our first half of the day was dedicated to Radomyshl and its castle http:// www. curiosity. com. ua /
At the moment, this is probably the most well-groomed and photogenic castle in Ukraine. During this route we have already visited many castles and can compare a bit.
The castle can be reached by city bus from the city center for 3.5 UAH.
In fact, it is an old mill and paper factory, which was bought by the famous Olga Bogomolets and put in order in recent years.
Now it is a beautiful castle and an interesting museum of icons and home life.
Currently, the historical and cultural complex "Radomysl Castle" includes:
Museum of Ukrainian Home Icon
Ritual Hall (which is also part of the Museum)
Concert Hall (Fireplace)
Dining Room
Landscape park with two waterfalls, as well as islands, rare plants and ancient sculptures.
Monument to the founder of the Radomyshl paper factory, Archimandrite of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Elisha Pletenetsky.
Radomysl Castle is part of the Via Regia route - the road of kings, which leads all the way to Spain.
There are many unique plants in the park, for example, some unique irises grow here. I'm not a big connoisseur of botany, but the fact is that the park is beautiful.
Previously, this area, like the old mill, belonged to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The Radomyshl Paper Factory, built in 1612-1615 by Elisha Pletenetsky, was located here. The paper that was made here was sent by boat across the river to the Lavra. And in memory of these events on the lake there is a monument to Elisha Pletenetsky in a boat.
Now the museum also has a small workshop for making paper. There are master shows and master classes. You can make a fragile piece of paper with your own hands.
Well, behind the walls of the castle are interesting icons. Here is the only museum of domestic icons in Europe. This is really interesting. For many years, the mistress of the castle collected icons from different regions of the country, restored them and now they are the main property of the castle.
Home iconostasis are collected in one of the halls. Probably, I remembered them the most.
There are icons that have been burned, shot and cut.
The collection includes icons of Poltava, Cherkasy, Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia, Kyiv region.
The oldest icons. Which are stored in the museum, dating from the 16th-17th centuries.
There is also a unique icon on which Jesus smiles
Also in one of the halls is now an exhibition of embroidered towels - Rushart. How beautiful they are there!
You can walk around the castle for 2-3 hours.
There is also a hotel where travelers can stay overnight. It's cool to wake up in a real castle! Rooms here, by the way, are quite acceptable - from 1300-1500 UAH.
In general, it is very calm, somehow peaceful, and even want to sit down to paint a picture. No wonder this place attracts creative people.
We met a Ukrainian writer here.
And in the castle tower you can see the area from a height, hit the bell and, of course, make a wish.
There is a large fireplace hall in the castle, where concerts, holidays and even weddings take place. The acoustics there are awesome! We listened to the piano like enchanted people!
I really liked the castle!
The cost of entrance tickets on weekdays is 120 UAH, on weekends 150 UAH.
After the castle we went to the city center. And here for the residents of Radomyshl left their last certificate - a trip as a gift along the route of the Embroidered Way.
Hurry up to find a certificate and go to one of the cities of our route!
Well, we have a road ahead in Kyiv.
Minibuses to Kyiv go from the center of Radomyshl, on the road about 1 hour, cost 60 UAH.
And now we have arrived in the capital, our final destination! Behind 23 days, behind 1800 km of the passed way, two tens places, hundreds of people on the way and tons of emotions.
And ahead - a crazy bike marathon in Kiev and finally a solemn meeting with our colleagues from the eastern route!
