The eighteenth day began with a brief excursion into the history of the Beeches.

So, Buki is an urban-type settlement in Cherkasy region. Historians have recorded it in 1515! After the construction of a castle in Buki in the 16th century, the region became known as the Butka Soil. For thousands of years, the waters of the local Gorsky Tikich River grinded the granites of the Proterozoic era, until they formed a picturesque canyon with steep slopes, which is about 2 billion years old.

If not dinosaurs, they have definitely seen mammoths.

The village is very small. Its population is about 2300 people.

However, there are charms that have recently attracted more and more inquisitive visitors, making Buki a prominent tourist route on the map of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the canyon was an old mill of the XIX century. Today we can only think of how he worked many years ago, because today in his place - the ruins.

The famous Butka canyon and waterfall - Vir. You have to see it with your own eyes! The beauty of the surrounding area is impressive.

Fresh air, picturesque and beautiful nature plus such interesting geological formations. Until a few years ago, no one knew about Buki.

However, today, on the steep slopes of the canyon, you can meet many tourists, there are also sightseeing buses.

If you want to enjoy and discover Buki for a few days, you can stay here in tents. Nature seemed to think of tourists. Almost near the river at the end of the canyon (opposite the mill) - the perfect place to set up a tent camp. The main thing is - do not forget to clean up after yourself.

Further down the river there are many places for picnics and recreation. You can swim in the mountain river, which I gladly took advantage of. The water is fresh and not cold. If you are going to jump, make sure how deep the bottom is, you need to be careful here.

Beech is a great place for a family vacation in the fresh air. Sharp and high cliffs hang over the water, creating a unique and not at all typical for Central Ukraine landscape, reminiscent of fjord landscapes or panoramas of the Carpathian Mountains.

By the way, many rocks have the names of locals, and there is a so-called Rodion Beach. In honor of the local violinist, who, according to legend, drowned after his beloved - the princess-snake, and only the violin remained on the rock.

Along the Tikich River behind the road bridge there is another well-known attraction of the village of Buki - the first rural hydroelectric power plant. It was built here in 1929 according to the plan of GOERLO. It has not been in operation for a long time now. Only the walls are reminiscent of a majestic structure.

The All-Ukrainian Climbing Championship will also take place in Buky, and many films, commercials and programs are being shot here, because it is really beautiful here.
