Somehow it turns out that the best impressions remain with me from the most unplanned trips. Especially if such trips are independent. So it happened two weeks ago, when my husband and I gathered in Istanbul. Bought tickets, booked a hotel - and go! Two hours of flight - and you find yourself in another world, where the winter sun shines differently, where the grass turns green in February, where street cats are not afraid to come up and beg, where almost on every street you can find a mosque / monument / column with a centuries-old history. And what incredible marvelous names! Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, Gulhane, Dolmabahce, Kapali Charshi, Istiklal, Eyup, Sirkeci... Well, what to do there in winter - you ask? Yes, it's the same. Walking, taking pictures of everything around, sitting in a square with a bag of roasted chestnuts, riding along the Bosphorus, bargaining in the markets, feeding seagulls.
In general, Istanbul conquered me. I would like to come here again, in a warmer season and in more comfortable shoes for walking. : )
A few words about the hotel. A nice hotel, inexpensive, well located (five minutes to the tram stop, ten to the Blue Mosque, the same amount in the other direction to the Grand Bazaar). The room is small and very clean, the breakfast is no frills but adequate. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of hotels in the historical center, you can easily find one that will at least not disappoint you.
