I have long dreamed of visiting Marmaris, as I heard a lot of positive reviews about it. When I already decided to go, I chose the Icmeler resort and never regretted it.
Our trip fell at the beginning of October, there was a fear that it would suddenly be cool, we would not be able to sunbathe, enjoy the sun. When we arrived, all our fears dissipated.
Before the trip, I chose a hotel for a long time. I was with a friend, the main thing for us was clean rooms, normal good food, a good beach near the hotel. We found all this at the Hotelus Royal.
The reception is located on the ground floor of the hotel, the people at the reception are very friendly, they speak English, very little Russian, not to mention Kazakh : -) They gave us a room on the second floor, the suitcases were brought.
The room was small, but cozy, cleaned every day, brought water, tea, coffee, as there was a small electric kettle on the table; there was a small refrigerator, a TV - there were no channels in Russian. The bathroom is clean, but without a bath : -) only a shower, which was closed with glass doors. Soap, paper, towels were renewed every day. Unfortunately, the wi-fi in our room was bad, at the reception it was better.
The air conditioning in the room worked properly, automatically turned off when the balcony door was opened, and turned on again when it was closed. The front door to the room was opened with an electric key (card).
There was a paid safe in the closet, in order to use it you had to pay 10 TL per day, and also leave 20 or 30 TL as a deposit at the reception, after which we were given instructions with codes for locking and unlocking the safe. Upon departure, the deposit was returned. Sorry, I don't remember exactly the numbers.
It is better to change money at exchange offices, which are at every step in Icmeler and Marmaris, at the hotel the exchange rate is unfavorable.
The restaurant was on the top floor of the hotel. There was a wonderful view from the windows of the hotel. I liked the food, no special frills, but everything is tasty and varied. For breakfast, you could order an omelette or scrambled eggs. There was always fish, normal beef meat, a variety of pastries. The restaurant served breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On the ground floor of the hotel there was a bar where free drinks until 22:00, as well as hamburgers and ice cream were prepared every day at certain hours. Next to the bar is a small swimming pool with sun loungers; the second pool with sun loungers on the opposite side, as if inside the hotel, but it is even smaller, next to the hill there is a pool for small ones.
All hotel staff were kind and accommodating. We were satisfied. Our vacation coincided with the dates of the great holiday Kurban Bayram, in connection with this, the hotel administration arranged a concert for several days in the evenings - Turkish folk dances and songs. It was interesting and fun.
The hotel is without animation and discos, but this is not a problem, since there were a lot of establishments in the area - bars, discos, restaurants.
The hotel has its own beach 2-3 minutes walk. No one asked for money for sun loungers and umbrellas, we calmly sunbathed. I will always remember the Aegean Sea, it is as beautiful as the Mediterranean. To see all its beauty, I advise you to take an excursion to the Aegean Islands. We ourselves took this excursion - we liked it very much; we also took a trip to Istanbul; a tour of the Dalyan river, but on the first day, of course, a hammam ? . All excursions were interesting and exciting in their own way.
Also in the evenings on dolmush for 2.5 TL per person, we went to the center of Marmaris to take a walk, shop, see the beautiful port. And you can also take a dolmush to the beautiful Nirvana Beach, where you can relax at least all day, the main thing is to buy drinks at a bar nearby.
