We rested at the Djerba Gold Resort in the first half of June 2021, flew literally on the first plane as soon as Tunisia opened for tourists. There were no reviews about the hotel in Russian, and we were very worried that we would end up in some kind of "garbage dump", because. read a lot of negative reviews about Tunisia until 2019, as a dirty, poor country, with unfriendly hotel staff, dirty canteens, cockroaches, ants, etc. So, this hotel - just surpassed all expectations in terms of service, attention and friendliness towards us, Russian tourists! It is clear that before our arrival, Tunisia stood for 2 years, everyone was out of work, and the hotel during our stay was less than half full, but how nice it was to get so much attention, service, smiles! Lovely large bright rooms with everything you need, very comfortable beds, Russian TV channels (I don’t watch at home at all, but here I even watched stand-up on TNT))). The room has a separate toilet with a bidet and a bathroom, which is a rarity in principle. Balcony with equipped clothes dryer, there is also a table and two chairs. The balcony of our room overlooked the courtyard, and there was perfect silence, only the birds chirped. The air conditioning is centralized, until June 12-15 it was not needed, because. in the evenings comfortable, breeze. And from the 15th it was turned on.
In general, I realized about Djerba that the season itself starts there from June 10-15, because. By this time the sea has become calmer, the water is warmer (25 degrees exactly), and the air temperature is also higher, 28-30 degrees, but thanks to the constantly blowing sea breeze, it is very comfortable, there is no suffocating heat. From June 3 to 7, the sea was cooler, 21-22 degrees, and for several days it was quite windy, strong waves, algae, dirty. But in this case - there is a gorgeous pool! And here I want to praise the staff for how quickly and carefully they clean the beaches! The specificity of the Tunisian Mediterranean Sea is brown algae, which are often carried ashore in large numbers. So they are immediately removed with a tractor, everything is cleaned, the sand is leveled. From 11 in the morning until about 3 in the afternoon, the tide begins, small ravines with very warm water and algae remain near the shore, lie down in them - here's thalassotherapy for you, moreover, absolutely free))
Well, you can write about food in a restaurant for a long time, but in short: there is plenty of everything and everything is very, very tasty. Unlike the same Turkey, for example, there is always several types of meat, almost always fish and often seafood. Fruit - always, and at breakfast too, pastries are just a fairy tale))) Also constant snacks at the beach bar, and from 4-5 o'clock at the pool bar. The waiters are always extremely attentive; at lunch and dinner, water is served and any drinks, chilled, are poured into glasses, i. е. restaurant - just a restaurant, it was even embarrassing without an evening dress! ))
Towels are issued on a deposit of $ 10, changed on demand. Room cleaning is beyond praise. Towels were changed daily, floors were always mopped. The deposit will be returned upon departure. There were shampoos and gels in the room, they were replenished after use, the hair dryer works. This I mean that you can not take it with you, because, for example, the Nord Wind airline, with which we flew, the suitcase should be a maximum of 10 kg per person! And it's very strict. Yes, you can add 10 kg of hand luggage, but you can’t put creams, shampoos, gels, etc. there. And how to do without it, if the vacation is 2 weeks? ! And, attention, surcharge for overweight -3000 rubles / 1 kg !!!!!!!! ! We faced such a situation for the first time, and were simply shocked. It is clear that many gifts-souvenirs cannot be brought back.
The hotel complies with all security measures: guards are everywhere, both on the beach and at the entrance, and around the clock, as well as very carefully observed sanitary safety measures, all employees are wearing masks, disinfectant spray gels are everywhere, everything is thoroughly disinfected everywhere (this is if someone is very fears). Tourists with kids (from 5 to 13 years old) will be very comfortable, because. The hotel has animators who constantly entertain children. Here you have dancing, and games, and sports, and water aerobics (this is for adults too).
And about animation - it's important, because. there is absolutely nothing to do outside the hotel. There is simply no promenade, no souvenir shops, no cafes within walking distance. But during the day you can go outside the gate, catch a taxi and go, for example, to see the local Synagogue, or take a taxi to the local market with a Decatlon sign, or to the market. Taxi is yellow, payment by the meter, everything is cheap: to drive half of Djerba is about 12 dinars. Money is changed at the reception, according to the "state rate". Wi-Fi catches perfectly in the lobby, restaurant and by the pool, so you can get all the information you need on Google and create some kind of route for yourself. Those who got rooms next to the reception had Wi-Fi in the room too. Yes, tour operators offer excursions, but we are not fans of walking with the crowd, and we have visited a lot of places, so we didn’t take anything.
In conclusion, I want to say that despite the fact that there is nothing special to look at Djerba, there is some kind of magic in this place, some kind of village silence, tranquility and peace. And this is very important for the rest of us, residents of megacities with an eternally frantic pace of life, with crowds of people, noise and din. And this one
The hotel is one of the few places where I would return again.
PS: I forgot, the hotel is not just GOLF. Opposite across the road there are beautiful manicured golf courses, and anyone can play golf. As far as we know it costs: $50 an hour.
