We consulted with the manager of CoralTravel, what food should be taken. We settled on the option - breakfasts, quite edible: eggs, fruits, pancakes, pastries, bacon, pasta, vegetables, cereals and more. For lunch and dinner we went outside the hotel, I advise the Veranda restaurant, there are Russian and Thai dishes.
We enjoyed our vacation with my girlfriend!
For those with children, it is possible to leave the child in the children's room - children 4+ are free of charge, up to 3 years old - with a personal nanny 200TNV / hour, and carve out free time for yourself, go to the salon))
The territory is beautiful, large and green. 3 excellent clean pools and on the very territory it is very pleasant to take a walk. The sea is across the road - the beach is not bad, but there are a lot of people and there are no umbrellas and sunbeds for hotel customers, you need to take money on the beach for money on the same conditions for everyone, because. the beach is not private to the hotel.
For myself, we also ordered excursions from a local company, not from the operator, I liked everything and it was cheaper. We had a wonderful rest, I recommend Phuket and this hotel.
No toothpaste and brushes in the rooms! ? I was in many hotels in China, Vietnam, all this was present there. They cleaned the room so-so, if you put a tip more, I’ll better clean it. But from time to time they forgot to put a towel, they took the bathrobe and did not put it down, they did not bring water on time.
The most unpleasant thing was that after moving to the second room, the next day they asked to change the bed, but it turned out that the sheets and pillowcases were changed, and the blankets were changed, i. e. from my bed to my daughter's bed (green spots served as a guide). The administrator was extremely surprised that such a case took place. Everything was replaced again, without problems, but two days later the key to the room was gone, which we left when leaving so that the air conditioner would work, by the way, it was quite noisy.
On the penultimate day at the coconut pool near the sunbeds on which we sunbathed, I saw a large rat.
As for the rest, everything is fine, everything is fine. The hotel is beautiful, the food is good.
So, back to Thailand! )
This is already our second time in Phuket, and of course, the eye notices more cons than the first. I won’t upset you with details, this is my personal attitude towards the countries of Southeast Asia, for many it is the opposite, but if we go to Thailand again, then only to Le Meriden. ) It may be different for you, so do not get upset ahead of time. ) Again, this is an attitude to the country as a whole, and not to a particular hotel.
Enough preamble, let's get down to business.
1. Weather.
August is much rainier than May (last year it was in May), but apparently due to the island location of Phuket, there were never heavy showers, it rained for a couple of times, it was overcast for three days, a day or two were very sunny, the rest - 50/50 sun / clouds, or light haze, which by the way does not interfere with tanning, but on the contrary - it helps to smoke well. In addition, rest from the scorching sun is needed, and days when the sky is overcast can be devoted to shopping. In general, it was more comfortable, we even slept without turning on the air conditioner, because there were among us who caught a cold. )
2. Sea/beach.
I have never swum in Patong, I won’t compare, in general the sea is clean, the beach is well maintained, the entrance is 100 baht, there are endless rows of sunbeds with umbrellas, I don’t want to choose.
A separate warning - be careful, there are strong currents in Karon, do not use inflatable objects, follow the signals of the coast guard and lifeguards, do not go deep into the water if you are not confident in your abilities. Saved children and women. vests are a must! Take care of yourself! The beach is LITERALLY across the road, i. e. from the exit from the hotel to the beach 10-15 meters. Another thing is that the hotel had to walk for a relatively long time, but it does not count. The beach is shared, so annoying sellers of all sorts of crap are guaranteed to you. Beach towels were provided by the hotel.
3. The hotel in general.
In general - worthy. A very large, yet well-groomed area, the creators clearly wanted to present all the main types of flora in Thailand. You can just walk along the paths among palm trees and bushes, discover new corners, find secluded gazebos, marvel at the wonderful views.
) Even at the end of the stay, the road from the main building to the exit to the beach and the pools was found on the signs, without them they wandered along unknown paths. ) The hotel has two buildings, one main, 5-storey, it is the farthest from the sea, it has a reception and a breakfast restaurant, another smaller one, closer to the beach, the rest of the territory is built up with houses, villas, residences surrounded by greenery. There is even a pond, but only a few villas overlook it. There are three pools on the territory, the main one is very crowded, we went to the second one, there were always free sunbeds, and generally quieter. There are a lot of families with children, families from Japan, China, a special "thank you" to Chinese children. Both the beach and back sides of the hotel overlook busy (for Karon) streets, near 7/11, a pharmacy, you can not talk about restaurants, fruit stalls and taxi drivers. Internet in the rooms is outrageously expensive, but there is a free Internet cafe with antediluvian PCs, which are often missing, of course.
Of course, Karon is not Patong, it is quiet, if you need courage and sleepless nights, look for something closer to the center, a taxi is expensive, to Jang Tselon 300 baht, tuk-tuks cost the same.
4. Rooms, accommodation
We lived in standard rooms in the main building, if you are in it, then ask for a higher floor - you will see the sea. The doors of the rooms overlook open galleries overlooking the "city", at night noise was sometimes heard, and a security guard with a walkie-talkie, wandering around the floor, interfered with sleep. On the upper floors, repairs were made on the outer walls, nets and workers were hanging)), during the day there was a smell of paint, but only on the galleries, in the rooms everything was in order. It seems that it is very cozy in villas and residences, you just have to try to get into one that does not go to the main paths, it can be noisy.
5. Service
Here were the downsides. The linen was not changed for the first week at all, in principle it didn’t bother us, but still.
Bathrobes are torn, they waited 30-40 minutes for delivery to the room in the evenings (and this is not about food, they just asked to bring something). Although, maybe in 4 * it’s necessary, I don’t know. ) But! ! ! When I forgot to collect the deposit for the room, I remembered it only when I went through customs, and decided to deal with it upon my return, it turned out that the hotel worker himself came to the airport (from Karon! ), found me at the airport, (I was taken back for a passport control) and gave the money! Nice, well done, offset!
6. But there were pluses, and one of them is a children's area. Two large halls, games, films, etc. , good, kind, cheerful teachers, open until 19 pm, very convenient.
7. Nutrition
Breakfasts are decent, moderately varied, there were always fruits. It’s true that sometimes it was tense with places, whoever got up late had to wait for tables, and it was generally crowded. The hotel has good restaurants, cafes, pizzerias, decent cuisine, prices, of course, are not low.
In general, if Le Meriden is a solid 5, then Mevinpick is a 4, in many ways even 4+, well suited for a family holiday.
