We chose a hotel for a long time, because we are used to good service and the absence of any cockroaches, bedbugs, etc. After reading a lot of reviews, we settled on Avalon. We were very satisfied with the hotel, the rooms are solid 4 *, the food for breakfast is excellent, the service is also at its best. The atmosphere in the hotel is calm, there is no noise, din, children do not splash with squealing in the pool, the audience was mostly middle-aged Europeans, quiet and calm. There are Russians, but not many. We were also pleased with the location - not in the very center but next to it, 5 minutes by minibus for a ridiculous 10 baht. It takes 3-5 minutes to walk to the bus. At the same time, the hotel's beach, as it seemed to us after we looked at the rest of Pattaya, is probably the best of what we saw there.
Do not make our mistake - do not change a lot of money at the hotel reception and at the airport - the rate, as it turned out, is greatly underestimated. Not far from the hotel there is an exchange office - if you leave the hotel on the embankment, then 5 minutes to the left. There are even 2 exchange offices - one right on the blue embankment and the other green around the corner from the 7 eleven store (a good store, everything is basic). In the same place, right at 7 eleven, we found a travel agency 7 tour where we stocked up on excursions. The prices there are much lower than at the hotel, and everything was impeccable in quality - everywhere we had a Russian guide with us, food and hotels were good during two-day trips.
In general, the impression of Pattaya is ambiguous - for the most part this is a place for sex tourists, but if you live in a normal hotel and travel on excursions, then you can go to Pattaya and not only for this. We didn’t walk around the city much, and didn’t even go to the survey - on the way from the airport it became clear that there was nothing to see there. Several trips to Kolan Island by boat. Another couple went by ferry - from the pier, they said that it's better not to stand for a long time and the stink of exhaust gases and a crowd of people. We paid 300 baht per person to get to the island and back. But of course, I liked Kolan much less than Kochang, where we went for 2 days - there really was a fairy tale ball, it’s very worth a trip.
