We really liked the hotel itself, the room was a standard double garden view. Despite the fact that the ocean was not visible from the windows, this turned out to be even an advantage, since chaeweng beach is a very lively place, and we, relaxing on the balcony in the evening, enjoyed the sounds of nature only - no noise, no loud music! Having missed civilization, they left the room and, after walking for about five minutes, found themselves in the center of events.
At first, it seemed like a minus that the hotel was separated by a fairly busy public road, but in the end it didn’t cause any problems, since it really was 5 minutes walk to the water anyway, and since guards are on duty at the crossing around the clock, blocking the traffic in order to so that tourists can move freely.
I really liked the hotel staff: all polite, friendly, ready to fulfill any request and answer any question. Cleaning and laundry are done professionally and with high quality. The breakfasts were quite tasty and varied, fresh fruits, juices and smoothies were always offered to choose from.
There are a lot of different cafes and bars in the vicinity, but after a few days we stopped at the hotel restaurants. The Italian restaurant has a real Italian chef, and they cook very tasty! More than once we order fresh pizza on a crispy thin dough right to the pool!
The biggest minus is the sea in the area of the hotel. It is very shallow, and the bottom is overgrown with algae, and so on throughout Chaeveng, so swimming was not very interesting and not very pleasant. As a result, in order to swim normally, we went to neighboring beaches several times (Lamai and Mae Nam). It costs 300 baht by taxi to get there, or 100 baht per person in an Open van. Most of all, of course, I liked Mae Nam. Next time I would choose a hotel on this beach. The sand there is yellow, but very clean, there are many palm trees that create a life-giving shade, the water is clear, the bottom is pleasant, very quiet and secluded.
The hotel is amazing and has a lot to offer. Located on the very shore, from the window of the room every evening a wonderful view of the ocean sunset. Pools (with a waterfall) of an intricate shape, a large area planted with exotic (for us) plants, a botanical garden is resting. The paths are paved with cheerful clay tiles. The architecture is traditional, on the whitewashed basement floors of a natural wood house with beautiful pagoda-like roofs. No urbanism. Very responsible and hardworking staff - in the restaurant, that the cleaners on the beach, that those who look after the territory.
I won’t write about the cuisine, whoever was in Thailand knows about cheapness, and about the freshest seafood, and about fruits that you will never try in Russia at all, even if there is a lot of money. And who has not been, let him go. I can only say that in addition to hotel establishments, there are many different worthy cafes on the coast. We didn't manage to get around everything in two weeks, but we'll be back. And now I have to urgently master fried noodles with squid and pork, otherwise my husband will kick me out of the house)))
We did not hang out on the beach all the days - several times for a change we chose sights. First, back in Moscow, they set their sights on Ang Thong Park, which consists of a scattering of islets in the Gulf of Thailand. Completely wild, untouched by civilization nature. They didn't ignore the crocodiles either, drove to the airport and for five hundred rubles admired the sleepy freshwater alligators and their skinny chicken being fed from a fishing rod. Then we went to the oceanarium, where, like inveterate Cousteau, we stared at the marine fauna for three hours. Butterfly garden passed us, although brother Kolya was just thirsty, but the trip to Namuang waterfall was impressive. Of course, there is no monstrosity of Niagara in him, he is simply handsome, you sit next to him for half an hour and it’s as if he rebooted, washes away all thoughts.
We rented a car for three days. Traffic in Tae is left-handed, but my brother drives well, he quickly orientated himself. The roads are excellent. We enjoyed touring the island ourselves.
Having been in paradise, in which I would have settled with pleasure forever, if I had the opportunity to earn money here, I decided that now I will only go to Europe in retirement, but for now I only want to Thailand, and even want to go to Vietnam.
Not far from the hotel begins the busiest street of the island - there are markets, shops, restaurants, bars.
Why this hotel is positioned as 4 * still can not understand. Excellent rooms (stayed in de lux across the road from the beach), super friendly and prudent service, very tasty cuisine (tried other restaurants on the island - decided not to "get out" of ours) but quite expensive compared to others dinner $ 150 - 200 for two , an excellent beach with a bar and security, swimming pools (and there are 4 of them), I won’t rate it - I don’t like to splash around in them. Own SPA - compared to Maldivian and Filipino ones by 4. There is a Russian-speaking manager - with a name that translates into Russian as "silver frog" (say hello from Olga).
It is better to stay in the rooms across the road (only the second floor!
) - quiet, calm, there is no beach and bar party, and walking to the sea - 70 m. Does not bother and a wonderful landscape with a babbling river. Moreover, there are such cute ones, as we called them "traffic lights" - two people are on duty around the clock and, seeing your approach, I stop transport on the road, although there are not many of them.
Invited to the hotel "island acquaintances", the Australians - ANANTARA, which is positioned as 5 * - much worse, and in our opinion, and the opinion of "acquaintances".
I advise you to visit the excursion "konopi" - the cable car - very beautiful and exciting, but be careful with safety - the Thais have a special relationship with it (none).
Another jeep safari. With a visit to the mountains, elephants, and other delights of the island.
We also took a car and rode around the island, you get used to the wrong movement in half a day.
I was pleased not with a large number of "reckless" compatriots both on the island and in the hotel.
Mostly Australians, Germans and Japanese.
I hope it will be useful to someone.
Have a good rest!
