The water is about 32-34 degrees near the shore - hot. The island is very quiet, beautiful, mountains covered with forests and jungles. Not many local cafes and eateries, prices are higher than Pattaya. seafood and European cuisine. Russian dumplings - no. There are 70% Russians in the hotel. There are few Ukrainians, the rest are Czechs or Slovaks, Scandinavians, Germans are few - only married Thais with children and pensioners. It was a shame for "our" compatriots. Some behave disgustingly, because. there is nothing entertaining - there is complete relaxation on the island - shops and shops close at 10 pm, cafes work for a short time. - In the evening they collect drinks and nuts, pistachios, etc. and to the beach. But tiger shrimp are cheaper in the center. We dined at the hotel restaurant - not very expensive and well cooked, we mostly ate seafood or Thai food. At first there were few people, then they drove up, but mostly people go for 2-3 days from Pattaya. A lot of Thais and Chinese come for the weekend. In a room for 2 live 6-8 people.
There is no standard Thai set of excursions! Available: JUNGLE ELEPHANT RIDING, treetop climbing, island climbing and snorkelling. Roma did not like the local guide from the Ilves tour, they took 2 excursions from him, - there should be a free tour of the island (They have a promotion, there are 4 waterfalls), but either the group is not recruited, or the day is not found, and then it was time for us to leave, fooled. We took an excursion to 5 islands - we wanted to see the island of Vai, it was agreed with Roma in advance, we generally wanted only this island, he persuaded us to go to 5, in the end we didn’t even get close to Vai, we actually visited 2 islands, to the third - the monkey drove up for 10 minutes, it turned out that Roma did not know anything (what is nothing? ) In general, it is better to take excursions on the street.
Conclusions: the island is very beautiful, calm, but there is nothing to do there more than once, in 5-10 years it will be like on Koh Samui. On the island, biting midges not only bit us, seasonally (they say) jellyfish and sea fleas gnaw in the sea. A breeze blows during the day, by evening everything calms down and it becomes stuffy and very humid. The hottest months on the island are March-April. Then the rains begin. Hotel Klong Prao resort is very beautiful and with some shortcomings is good. If the question arises to go or not - YES, GO. must see, but in December - February. You can go with Ilves Tour, we calculated the cost of the tour if we went ourselves - it turned out almost the same as with the company, only we didn’t have any problems at all, especially stressful - the way back from the island to the BKK or Trat is expensive. And it's annoying to carry things around.
Bayok Sky is a very good hotel, although we saw 2 times one Prusak in the bathroom. The food is excellent, the view is gorgeous, the location is excellent, but the Pratunam Bazaar has been broken in half. Half remained. Bangkok has remained the eternal city of angels. I like him. Because we were driving from Trat. We arrived in the BKK in the evening, and were there only 1 day, but I would like at least 3, at 2 am we were taken to the airport.
