Hotel ratings by criteria:
The Ebla Cham Palace Hotel is located between Damascus and the airport (I think 10 km each way).
Has the status of a five-star. It is a massive building surrounded by a garden. Floors like 5, two more underground. According to the locals, the hotel was built as a palace for the congresses of the Ba'ath party, then it was repurposed. Accordingly - a monument of monumental propaganda.
The rooms are big and good. TV without Russian channels, but there is a BBC. Food is lousy. Very monotonous, from fruits only grapefruits, oranges, tangerines, apples. If you are accustomed to our cuisine, you can only eat vermicelli, potatoes (occasionally) and mushrooms (mushrooms are not added to mineral water there). There are no seafood. You can forget about the abundance of the Egyptian "all inclusive". Coffee is almost always for extra money (a small one for two or three bucks, water is not provided with coffee). They carry mineral water in bottles as much as you want.

Internet is available in the hotel, but expensive. There is no Russian layout, and the admin does not understand in any of the languages what they want from him. But it works around the clock. By the way, the hotel staff speaks English, but no Russian. Everyone knows English, but it’s better not to go beyond 500-600 basic words - they start to get stupid.
I did not see the indoor pool, because it did not work, the open one too. The tennis courts were closed. There is a healthy conference room. If you want to walk at night - break off. Nearby are stunningly beautiful places, but this is a private area - you can not enter. But next - the highway to Damascus. The hotel can be recommended to those who were settled there against their will (I was there on business trips).
Threat Syrians in response to criticism of the hotel are offended and roll their eyes. For them, he is the ultimate dream and a symbol of another life. After I traveled all over Syria, I realized that the hotel is really very cool by local standards (Sheraton and 4 sizns do not count).
