New Year's Journey, or Through Slovenia at a gallop. Bohinj
This year it so happened that I was in a New Year's fairy tale. The route was by bus, we drove from Brest to several countries, but it was only a preparation for a fairy tale. But in Slovenia, this fairy tale began, and it will be, rather, not a story, but a photo report about those places that we managed to visit and see, and, as always, at a gallop.
The morning of December 31 - and this is the first day of acquaintance with Slovenia, and it was just gorgeous. We left the hotel early and on the way we were greeted by dawn, which simply fascinated everyone.
We move on - and again a fabulous river, like us, it rushed at high speed. And here we are almost at the goal.
Triglava National Park is one of the most famous attractions in Slovenia. It was founded back in 1924 by a Slovenian botanist. Mount Triglav (2864 m) is the highest point of the Julian Alps. There are two lakes in the Triglav Park - Bohinj and Bled, and it is simply impossible to say which one is better, both lakes are so good, each in its own way. There are ski resorts in the reserve, there are several of them, with trails of varying difficulty, there are hiking trails, also of varying difficulty, and these trails in Triglav Park are the main goal of many tourists. I would like to come here for a few days and just relax without thinking about anything. BUT WE HAVE A GALLOP!! !
The first lake on our way is Bohinj. Lake Bohinj itself is of glacial origin, located at an altitude of 525 m above sea level. Bohinj is the largest lake in Slovenia, its area is 3.18 sq. km, depth up to 45 m. Bohinj was the largest metallurgical center in Slovenia! This sculptural group of people reminds of this:
And there is just a ringing silence around, the cleanest air and the landscapes are simply mesmerizing. Of course, we brought a little noise, but we just didn’t want to make a lot of noise and clamor. We managed to see a little, the stop was very short, just a photo pause. The lake is located almost under the very Triglav.
The Church of John the Baptist is one of the sights of Bohinj, founded in the 11th century. The church is located in the village of Rybchev Laz, located on the shore of the lake, and together with the bridge over the Ozernitsa River, it looks very harmonious. For me, it's just a postcard. True, the church is closed, but the fresco is visible on the facade of the building and is very old.
And again gallop - we run to the monument to the mountain goat. This monument is not just some unknown mountain goat. There is a legend in Slovenia about a wild white chamois that had golden horns and a garden with a treasure trove on top of Triglav. Once a not very good and very greedy man wanted to steal these treasures and shot Zlatorog. However, an amazing flower grew out of the spilled blood of the chamois, bringing life back to the graceful animal. But the fate of the hunter was sad. Zlatorog, by the way, is the emblem of the Slovenian beer "Lashko".
And the goat must be held by the horns and rubbed, however, for what - honestly, I don’t remember.
And we're moving on!! !
