Pearl of the Republic
Particularly unusual, one of the most beautiful lakes in Russia, is Sea Eye Lake. The surrounding area around this lake is not in vain called the Mari Switzerland: if you look at the steep slopes, overgrown with fir trees, rocky slopes, you involuntarily get a feeling of a foothill area, strict and beautiful. A road and paths pass by the lake from the mountainside to the valley, a small river flows. Children and adults swim and fish. In a noisy stream along a chute hollowed out of a tree trunk, lake water flows down from the lake down into the valley with a rustle and murmur. Guests constantly come here: tourists, just nature lovers, to admire the beauty of the lake and the surrounding area. Approaching the lake, high on the mountainside, they froze, amazed by the amazing beauty of the lake, which spreads below in a valley with an infinitely transparent emerald smooth surface of water, with distant hills vegetation, roofs of houses in the valley. The sea eye stands out for its peculiar shape, like a volcanic crater with a destroyed outer wall. This is a relatively young (about 20.000 years old, according to local scientists) karst failure occurred in the zone of a high ledge up to 90 m in height. The depth of the lake, which lies already in the zone of the foot of the ledge, reaches 42.4 m with a diameter of 45 by 50 m. The water temperature in summer is up to 18 C at the surface, at the bottom 4 C. The lake bowl below is littered with lying trees that crawled down from the slopes mountains and sank. The bottom water is not clear. On the mountainside, scuba divers discovered a small cave.
The water in the lake is of good quality and is used by the local population for drinking purposes. In the surrounding area, in addition, there are several more sources of spring water. On the rocky slope of the failure, streams are beating, sparkling and shimmering in jets in the evening sun, flowing in bizarre streams into the amazingly beautiful, wonderful and magically beautiful Sea Eye Lake.
