Wonderful weekends and holidays in Suzdal
I recommend everyone to visit the city of the Golden Ring - Suzdal!
I chose this city for myself for trips on weekends and holidays. Almost every month holidays for tourists are held there (Shrovetide, cucumber festival, farewell to summer, etc. ). There are many attractions in Suzdal: the Kremlin, the Museum of Wooden Architecture, the Spaso-Efimevsky Monastery, the Pokrovsky Monastery, etc. In the center of the small town there is a market square where you can buy various souvenirs and trinkets. There is also a town of artisans where you can buy handicrafts, take pictures and eat delicious pancakes. There is a mead tasting room, this drink is not drunk anywhere like in Suzdal ; ) Next to Suzdal is Kideksha, where there is an ancient cathedral included in the UNESCO list. I also like to go to the village of Sanino (about 20 km from Suzdal, you pass Kideksha on the way). There is a nunnery (with a spring) where good-natured and hospitable nuns live, who are always ready to meet guests, open churches and talk about them, or even invite them to the refectory and treat them to the dishes of the monastery cuisine from the freshest products.
From restaurants, I recommend visiting the "Refectory" in the Kremlin, "Beehive" in "Pushkarskaya Sloboda", "Sokol".
In Suzdal, you can just take a walk and breathe in the fresh air. This is a very beautiful and cozy town!
In Suzdal, I celebrated the New Year 2008 at the Pushkarskaya Sloboda Hotel, a decent hotel, I think that it is the best in this city. There are not always places in hotels (people come to Suzdal from Moscow, Ivanov and Kostroma), I prefer to stay in a cozy and clean apartment.
Suzdal can be reached by car, it is 182 km from Moscow to Vladimir, and from Vladimir to Suzdal about 25 km. I recommend stopping by Vladimir on the way and visiting the Assumption Cathedral, previously it was the Cathedral of All Russia - very impressive! In the suburbs of Vladimir there is Bogolyubovo, where the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl is located, surrounded by water.
