In general, there are many nice hotels in Kostroma, as I see it, of the most different price categories. Since this trip is not just a trip for a couple of days off, but the beginning of a vacation. And vacation is… Vacation : )), pleasure, relaxation, the permissibility of some excesses, including in financial terms. As a rule, we live in hotels of an average price category, maybe even closer to a low one. And then we decided to please our loved ones. Well, our thrifty soul did not allow us to become generous at all for a high price. A little more expensive than usual, allowed. And the place of stopping in Kostroma was the hotel "Ekaterina" 4 *.
Hotel "Ekaterina" 4 * new, opened on New Year's Eve 2018. Therefore, the state of the interior decoration is appropriate - new : ). Oh how I love crispy novice.
The entire theme of the hotel is dedicated to Empress Catherine II. Her own portrait greets guests at the entrance. The flights of stairs are decorated with portraits of royal persons, courtiers and other famous people of the Catherine era. Interesting and informative, like in a museum.

We booked the simplest room without a balcony, everything in accordance with our nature, as I already mentioned, economical. Inquiring about the possibility of balconizing, we were offered the option of canceling the Booking reservation, and at the same cost we would have a room with a balcony. Vooot, this is another matter, personnel decide everything. And then initially, when communicating by phone, they did not offer any discounts and buns. In this situation, it even turned out more profitable for me through my native booking, I have my own offsets with him.
Number. Just "Ah"! The style is royal. But all this brilliance and ferdibobels do not tire at all. Everything you need is available. Filling the bar is paid, if anything, but the water is free and replenished. The wardrobe seems to be narrow. Ha, but deep, respectively, roomy. I wanted to be indignant, they say, there is nowhere to attach a travel bag, but it didn’t work out, it fit perfectly in the closet. Oh, it's also backlit.
Needless to say, everything in the bathroom just shines and sparkles with new and cleanliness. Washing cosmetics, by the way, quite good. I always carry mine with me. Well, except that it happened this February during a trip to the Kaliningrad region, I forgot to revise the travel bag, for which I paid the price, I had to learn the delights of a straw hairstyle : ) (I talked about this here). Well, oh well... So, I liked the aroma of the contents in the "Catherine" bottles and ventured to try - everything is ok. Dental and shaving kits on request. But I did find something to complain about - these are towels. In another place, I might not have paid attention, but here, in these imperial interiors, fluttering towels with gold monograms hurt the eyes very much. There is no perfection in this world : ). And this fact is perhaps the only negative (if you can call it such) when staying at the Ekaterina Hotel.
What else… Oh yes, the balcony. Yes, furnished. Views, maybe not the most specific ones. But to sit in the evening is very pleasant.
On the economic side: there is a corner with an ironing board and an iron, which is very convenient.
There is a whole room with souvenirs. I think that here it is not so much connected with souvenirs as it can be used for talking.
By the way, the conference room is announced, but I did not look there as unnecessary. For car travelers there is parking, if you have time, you can attach a car in the shade of the courtyard, which was very important in those hot days.

I would like to note the trained and polite staff: both maids and waiters, and, especially, administrators at the reception. They are kind without fawning, sincerely smiling, quickly responding to requests. Well done!
The hotel has a restaurant. It works for its direct restaurant purpose. Very interesting menu, all in accordance with Catherine's theme. But at first, the price tag put us a little overwhelmed. A 5% discount on a coupon from a hotel doesn't help much. Probably, we have simply lost the habit of modern price realities while sitting at home. And, here, the business lunch was very pleased both in terms of cost (for 500 rubles for two they rolled out in koloboks), and in taste, and even the presentation was interesting. Offset. Would recommend even if you are not staying at this hotel. Buffet breakfasts are also served here. Very good breakfast I must say. Without red fish and champagne, of course : ). Here and without them there is something to roam. In general, you can have breakfast until the evening. Moreover, not just to satisfy the need for food, but to enjoy both the atmosphere and the food.
And in conclusion about the location. Although there is a wild here (Nizhnyaya Debry St. ), but such a central one. All tourist locations are within walking distance. Yes, and the Volga is very close to the promenade.
So, if you are in Kostroma, take a closer look at the Ekaterina Hotel Palace 4 *. He may not be the most budgetary, but very worthy, luxurious, but unpretentious. We, with our stingy nature, determined for ourselves that we gave the money not in vain : ). Vacation started well!
