The room is the usual standard, somewhere the plaster is cracked, somewhere the furniture is rubbed, the plumbing is working. We arrived as a family with a child, but there were two beds in the room. We wanted to call the reception - we did not find phone numbers, we had to go downstairs to ask for a cot.
The cafe in the hotel is a separate story, rather a sad one. Went for a business lunch once, never again.
We got the impression that they did us a favor for our own money, and the cooked food was clearly left over from the breakfast buffet. Therefore, they ate in city cafes (Povareshka, Canteen, etc. ). The cafe in the Berlin hotel is a solid unit.
They cleaned the room every day, but after they hung a sign on the handle. There is no soundproofing between the rooms at all, we felt like one family with neighbors.
In general, there is no enthusiasm, but there was also no particularly critical attitude, middle peasants.

If I had known that my husband would decide to rent a car, which happened at the very last moment, I would have planned everything completely differently. Of course, it is not very suitable for exploring the city on foot. But taxis are cheap, and there is enough public transport, but we never used it. Actually, all Kaliningrad tourist attractions are scattered throughout the city, so you should not rely on the so-called "old city", well, as we tourists are used to - I ran around and that's it. We'll have to ride and stomp.
So, about Berlin. In general, quite a decent hotel. But it did not cause any super-enthusiasm.
We booked a junior suite, which is not typical due to our... economy. But, just because of the postponement of the booking dates, I fell for a free category upgrade, then another transfer - there was no increase, I decided to party in full, and left this junior suite.
The room is on the last attic floor, so there are no views from the windows in principle. Or rather, you can see if you climb on the sofa.
Some noises did not bother us, as many guests complain. It probably depends on the side. Our “windows” did not look out onto the roadway of Kievskaya Street, which is active around the clock, but, so to speak, into the courtyard.
The room is equipped with everything you need: a refrigerator, a safe, a tea station, tea and sugar are included, but, for some reason, there is no coffee. There is a closet, small, but with shelves and, albeit not the most comfortable, but still easily removed from the crossbar hangers. Yes, I’m all grumbling on the hangers, which are like that - with grooves, you can’t take it off, you can’t hang it in place : )).
The bathroom is small, clean and tidy. Washing cosmetics available. Towels, bathrobes are fluffy. And, yes, one of the few cases when a normal non-leaking shower cabin came across, and its shutters open so that nothing pours onto the floor. Well, it is, maybe not the most important thing for living, but often annoying : )).
Another annoying fact in the modern world is the lack of outlets. Rather, they are, but at the front door, for example. There are free places where all this electrical equipment (TV, kettle, refrigerator)... In general, the beds do not have them. Yes, these are the realities - already uncomfortable.
The cafe "Berlin" serves breakfast buffet, quite a decent set. For some reason, I never recorded this “set” for history. It was impossible to choose a moment without guests in the frame. But believe me, you can have breakfast before dinner: an omelet-sausage set, porridge, cold cuts, vegetables, muesli, various snacks - pickles, yogurts, etc. etc.
You can not overeat, of course, at the buffet, but order from the menu, but this is not about us. In addition, if you book on the same booking immediately with breakfast, it turns out to be somewhat cheaper if, suddenly, you decide to buy breakfast on the spot.
In the same cafe you can have dinner and lunch. The cost is quite democratic, in terms of taste characteristics, maybe not a masterpiece of culinary art, but quite well. By the way, you can ask to take the whole thing to your room, they do not refuse. In any case, it is convenient if you are late: the cafe, it seems, needs to be closed, and you want to eat, why detain employees.
Now about the employees. Yes, there is no joy on their faces. By and large, there is no great tragedy in this, not my girlfriends. But there is no welcoming atmosphere. Administrators at the reception will not refuse to answer the question, but they will not be the first to say hello. All the two mornings in which we encountered the girls, they simply had absolutely no time that they did not even raise their eyes to the people who approached them. And in the evening, somehow, in general, the administrator hid behind the reception : )). But, I repeat, they do not refuse help, boarding passes will be printed if necessary.
So, if during your trip to Kaliningrad you also plan to travel around the regional expanses by public transport (Zelenogradsk, Svetlogorsk, Baltiysk), then the Berlin 3 * hotel will become a convenient and quite comfortable place to stay. If by car, then for a stop it is better to consider options in the northern, northwestern regions of the city, it is easier to enter and exit. It can be, for example, Alexander Nevsky Street, Sovetsky Prospekt...
