We were at the Neva Hotel on October 17-19.2008. We chose it because it is located in a convenient location (not far from the embankment), Chernyshevskaya metro station, but it would be better if we stayed at the St. Petersburg hotel! There was a ridiculous difference between the two hotels, and it seemed that the Neva turned out to be cheaper. In the end, it turned out that not a damn thing was cheaper, and for 3500 you could find a good room in St. Petersburg!
And now on the "Neva". The building is old, Stalinist construction, with 3-meter ceilings. We have already tuned in to huge curtains, tall wardrobes, a huge chandelier....
Having received the keys to the "repaired comfort", we went up the elevator (very creaky and not even old, but decrepit), opened the door with an ordinary metal key (to be honest, I have long considered this archaism in hotels) and... Creaky floors and a door with /y, the bed in the room "double" is one and a half!!! ! The paint on the windows has peeled off (well, of course, there is no question of any plastic windows). We understood what was renovated here: a new closet, freshly hung wallpaper, and tiles in the bathroom. ALL!! ! Now separately about the big cons: 1. A huge bug was found in the bed, after which the whole body itches (on a nervous basis, because I'm terribly afraid of insects)

2. Mold in the shower. No comments, all in the photo. First of all, upon arrival home, I used antifungal agents.
Conclusion: We go to St. Petersburg very often. we adore this city, and let them say that the hotel is not the main thing, that, they say, we will only spend the night there. It's not true, it doesn't matter either. A fly in the ointment, as you know, can ruin a barrel of honey. So, we'd better stay in previously known hotels (Azimuth and Asteria)
PS: I wonder what the "not renovated" rooms looked like? !
