For guests with heavy luggage: the hotel is on the 2nd floor without an elevator. The public entrance is dirty and gloomy. Hall dark and ascetic, no indoor plants and other interior elements that create comfort. NO air conditioning, exhaust duct, so the air is musty, humid, despite the open window. There is mold in the shower. NO bathrobe, slippers, toothbrush and... soap! No liquid shower in the dispenser, no ordinary one on the toilet shelf. There is a bulky TV "Ruby", which takes up half a table. Tea, coffee, sugar and salt are freely available in the hall. I lived in a 2-bed N8.

This is a mini hotel. Located on st. Chekhov, 4 On the 2nd floor (there is no elevator, but it seems to be of no use). Free Wifi is available, quite frisky. A completely inconspicuous sign (on a regular entrance). This, as we have already understood, is a common thing for mini-hotels. We found out about this hotel by chance on a recommendation.

This is a mini hotel.
Located on st. Chekhov, 4
On the 2nd floor (there is no elevator, but it seems to be of no use).
Free Wifi is available, quite frisky.
A completely inconspicuous sign (on a regular entrance).
This, as we have already understood, is a common thing for mini-hotels.
We found out about this hotel by chance on a recommendation.
On Booking. com unfortunately it is not presented.
We lived in another mini-hotel in the neighborhood on Chekhov, 2 and could not extend the room there for another 1 day (everything was booked).
(see my review of the Comfort Hotel - I will add a link to the review in the comments later)
Hotel "Chekhov" is very pleasant in design and furnishing.
According to the website of the hotel, A. P. Chekhov often stayed at the neighboring house number 6 with the publisher Suvorin.
The site also reports that the architect, d. 18/7 on the street. Chekhov - Konstantin Ton (The Grand Kremlin Palace and much more - this is also him), well, that's it - for info.
At the reception in the hotel lobby photos of Chekhov, posters, books.
Otherwise, strictly speaking to A. P.
The Chekhov hotel has a very distant relationship))) Which, however, does not prevent the hotel from being very, very decent.
We got a double room number 1 for its regular price of 2400 rubles
The room has a good carpet on the floor, a double bed, regular TV (but there are many channels), a large built-in mirror wardrobe, nice light beige wallpaper.
Although the room is quite small, it is quite comfortable.
While they cleaned the room for us, they showed us as an example - a triple room. It's a bit more spacious than a double and quite nice too.
The windows from the room - on Chekhov street. At night, cars do not drive on it often, but they do. But if it is not hot outside, it is quite possible to close the window and it will be quiet enough.
Judging by the location of the doors in the lobby, there are rooms with windows to the courtyard.
There is no air conditioning in the room.
The hotel website says that some rooms seem to have them.
From the pros: nothing creaks in the room - neither the floor nor the bed.
The soundproofing of the walls is complete.
But not the doors
That is, if the phone rings in the reception hall or they walk, then through the door it is quite audible.
But at night no one went and did not call.
The bathroom has a shower cubicle.
Of the minuses: no battery-dryer in the bathroom.
Hairdryer can be borrowed from reception.
The bathroom also, which is nice, has a disposable toothbrush (foldable, in a plastic case) with mini-paste.
The room also provides disposable slippers.
There is no kettle in the room, but there is a cooler and a kettle in the lobby.
Free cups and tea/coffee bags.
Of the minuses:
- pillows are very small and not high.
- despite the fact that the reception is 24 hours, we didn’t really understand how to catch the receptionist at night to ask for extra. pillow or ask something.
It occurred to us that we could call the intercom from below at the entrance, but we found this scheme not very funny at 2 am)))
Is breakfast included. But we overslept him.
As we were told, there is porridge / scrambled eggs / cereal, yogurt, tea / coffee.
Hotel location
--------------------
Quite good.
From Nevsky Prospekt to the hotel - 7 minutes on foot at an average pace.
We turn from Nevsky to Liteiny, go along it, turn onto Zhukovsky and on the left there will be st. Chekhov.
To Gostiny Dvor 1-2 stops by bus / trolleybus along Nevsky.
Walking is 15 minutes.
Summary:
In terms of price / quality ratio - an ideal option.
Good design, attitude, yes and inexpensive.

Around
--------
Very close to the hotel there is a 24-hour "Coffee House" (with wifi).
On Zhukovsky and Liteiny there are a lot of cafes, bars, canteens, a convenience store and even a coffee shop from Artemy Lebedev.
And at the exit to Nevsky from Liteiny - sushi "Two Sticks" (without Wifi), next to the sushi - McDonald's.
And from the end of McDonald's - "Subway"

For those traveling to Helsinki.
----------------------------
Nearby there is a lane. Radishchev (see.
Kirochnaya street), there is a Finnish embassy and there you can buy insurance for travelers to Schengen countries with good discounts (30180 for 500 rubles in Uralsib, open until 16-00)
Buses to Helsinki are also nearby.
They leave at 15-40 from Italian, 37 (because it is a regular one, it doesn’t stand at the border and at 22-00 it already arrives at Kamppi in Helsinki, the border passes at 19-00). It costs 1600r.
There is also evening.
They come to Italianskaya from the bus station on Obvodny Canal, 36

As a bonus)) to this review, I want to tell you where you can go in the evening to listen to jazz in St. Petersburg.

Jazz in St. Petersburg
-------------
I, as a lover of this business, usually look everywhere where I can combine business with pleasure - to eat and listen to jazz.
On Shpalernaya, 33 (relatively not far from the hotel), judging by the Internet, there is
jfc club. spb. en
But it somehow works strangely (from 19 to 23)
On the way to the Finnish embassy, not far from the hotel, we saw the Red Fox bar
Mayakovsky, 50
It was written on the sign that this is a jazz cafe, it works until 23-00 like.
We didn’t go in, because we were already leaving. . it turned out to be convenient for us to go there for dinner on the way to a long walk.
Club in the basement. Entrance is free.
But I would NOT recommend it.
Jazz is not impressed. Under rather unpretentious samples in the corner, an elderly uncle in a cowboy hat alone sang standards to himself. Once played the harmonica, very mediocre. But he sang a couple of songs quite badly.
Prices in the cafe were 20% higher than on the website.
At the same time, there is no kitchen. Edible, but nothing more.
In addition, they forcibly supplement the check with 10% service. It's not explicitly mentioned on the menu.
At the same time, there were almost no visitors on a weekday at 22:00 in the evening.
And to top it off, they tried to cheat us by writing down a teapot for 70r as 220r. Then, however, they apologized. So I can't say anything inspiring about jazz in St. Petersburg.
