Dmitrov historical and frog or a little about the homeland of the Frog Princess
Dmitrov is an old town near Moscow. Founded in 1154 by Yuri Dolgoruky and named after his youngest son, born in the same year, Vsevolod the Big Nest, baptized Dmitry.
Monument to Yuri Dolgoruky erected on Sovetskaya Square in 2001 in preparation for the 850th anniversary of the city (2004) According to legend, it was in this place that Yuri Dolgoruky received a prophecy about the birth of his son.
We have been passing through this city several times. And it always seemed that this was an ordinary industrial town of the Soviet period of construction, until somehow our path passed by the earthen ramparts of the Dmitrov Kremlin. We took a closer look, looked around - and this is an explosive mixture of different eras on a small piece of land. Now this is all Dmitrovsky Kremlin Museum-Reserve
In the center of the entire museum complex is the Assumption Cathedral. The exact date of construction is unknown, approximately between 1509 and 1533. By 2003 the temple was restored.
Defensive earthen ramparts (once there was a wooden fortress on them) - witnesses of the birth of the city - are protected by the state. But you can walk along them, and in winter they are used for skiing events from the hill : ) My offspring tried - tryndets pants : ))) But it's best, of course, to survey the surroundings from them

There are many more places worthy of attention in Dmitrov. It is quite possible to consider this town for a sortie on a day off. But I thought about my story in a different way. Since on our trips, even for all sorts of cases (and this visit to Dmitrov was just that, not a tourist one), we often have to take children with us, I always have to figure out how to pay them off for the delivered, so to speak, inconvenience : ). As a rule, a makdachka cutlet solves many problems : )), but besides cutlets, there is a lot of joy around us : ))
On Kropotkinskaya Street next to the Dmitrovsky Kremlin, there is a curious place - The Frog Museum.
In fact, this is a souvenir shop with a workshop, the official name of the gallery is "Tourist's Dream". Here you can buy pretty nice little things, but since most of the souvenirs are handmade, the price tag is appropriate.
This should be taken into account when visiting with children, I had an unpleasant conversation when my daughter wanted a “hundred” soft toy for 3000 rubles... But, fortunately, the child is already old enough, and we were able to understand each other... Also master classes are held here and all kinds of holidays for children, for the money, of course, I was not interested in the cost.
The frog is considered an unspoken symbol of Dmitrov.
The city was not founded on a high place, as was customary in those days, but on swamps through which the enemy could not pass. They say that this is exactly what happened several times, the frogs reacted to the vibration of the earth from the movement of numerous enemy warriors and began to croak very loudly, which was what warned the townspeople.
In general, Dmitrov residents used to be called paddling pools. Yes, and the Frog Princess, who caught the arrow, they say, comes from Dmitrov
So in this gallery there is a small exposition dedicated to the frog in all its manifestations.
Even ski boots are available with a frog mount. Exhibits from a variety of materials.
They are collected from all over the world, but not that they were specially collected, for the most part they are gifts from guests of the city.

Well, or such a culinary masterpiece. It turns out that Dmitrov also had its own printed gingerbread, the recipe of which was lost. But local enthusiasts are trying to revive the tradition of gingerbread printing
By the way, visiting the museum and the tour are free. I don’t know about the season, but now we had an individual tour, they also dressed up as frogs : ))

So, in order to better feel the frog theme, it’s more correct, of course, to wander into Dmitrov in the summer season (I will also keep it in mind). There is a splash fountain in the city "Waiting" (photo from the Internet).
