Baikal and Olkhon
We have been traveling with Triatur for over 15 years. Always excellent and reliable: a high level of customer service and prices that suit us. In the summer of 2020, as soon as travel was allowed, we bought tickets and went with our daughter to Lake Baikal. It was one of the most memorable trips and we travel often. Baikal is a place of power, and this is true. You can admire Baikal for hours and walk along the shore, absorbing the energy of the beautiful lake. We were at the end of June, we managed to swim 2 times. Although the water is cold, the local children are constantly in the water. Adults rarely enter the water. We managed to get to Olkhon. If you plan to be on Baikal, I recommend visiting the island. One day is enough to get an idea of the island. The nature of the island is virgin and unique. I advise you to go in the coming days, as soon as you are on Baikal.
Baikal often storms, so many sea excursions may be cancelled. On the way to Olkhon, we caught a small storm, and these are very unpleasant memories when you are thrown 1 meter up for an hour. And, of course, the best gifts from Baikal are omul. He is incomparable. We stopped at the Kumutkan Hotel with one of the best restaurants on the coast. In 10 days we managed to swim in Baikal 2 times (the water is cold, but local children swim), we went for the whole day to Olkhon Island (pristine nature, one of the most unique places on the planet), we went to healing mud baths (we fed seagulls along the way, chasing the boats and waiting for their piece of bread from human hands), visited the natural reserve.
Next to "Kumutkan" there is an amazing place - a museum of a contemporary artist, a nugget. On the territory of the museum there is a church built by the artist without a single nail according to the design of an ancient temple. We were lucky - we got to the service in this temple (and services are rarely there). And of course there were wonderful bike rides along the coast with stops for photo shoots: cormorants, herons, nature of Baikal.
