It's not safe through Belgrade.
Spring 2011 Why is it not always comfortable to be Russian outside of our Motherland? remember it
unpleasant, but to warn you of what situations on the road you should be prepared for, I am writing.
We went to Europe in our own car, with Russian numbers.
On the way to Bulgaria, stopping in Belgrade in Serbia, we are stuck in a traffic jam. My husband is driving, I am nearby.
To the left, from a nearby car, filled with a whole, as it seemed, gypsy family, from the passenger seat, a boy of about 25 asks: “Are you Russian? ”
"Yes, " the husband replies. And as the cars move, the boy begins to tell that only we can help with his problem, that he urgently needs money, so he is ready to sell the chain from his neck. This chain was about as thick as a chain from Soviet toilet bowls. Saying that we have no money, we closed the window and drove on. What chain? Why were we approached with such a proposal, I asked my husband, do we really look like people who want to buy a chain, and even from hands? I think they are different, but apparently the persistent pattern about Russians who once wore, and maybe still wear chains with a fist, drives these scammers.
But if it was an isolated case, we would probably forget about it. However, returning back, passing Belgrade again, but from the opposite side, we encountered the following. We are driving, a car is on the right, again with a family (! ), Starts honking us. We, having already experience, do not react, we continue to move. But the driver on the right does not let up, he honks incessantly, then I turn the registrar in his direction, I myself behave calmly, I don’t panic, I don’t confuse my husband. Apparently, what the registrar, signaling to us, does not know, continues to signal until the husband brushed him off angrily and accelerated the movement.
We're going, it looks like we're behind. It wasn’t there, it goes around us on the right and begins to perform the same manipulations by turning on the emergency gang. We were supposed to go straight along the highway, and the “contractors” apparently had their own plan, which we violated by turning sharply to the right. So we broke away from the "breeders". There is only one positive thing about this, if we had not turned off the highway and had not gone deeper into the city, we would not have seen what a beautiful city - Belgrade.
But for those who plan to drive in this area, keep in mind that the road through Belgrade is criminal. They will violate your personal space, impose their will. The best advice is don't stop. Yes, traveling in your own (Russian) car in Europe is probably more economical than renting a car, but NOT SAFE!
