Dracula's "home" - Bran Castle
Bran Castle is located near the town of Bran, 30 km. from Brasov, it is a national monument of culture and architecture of Romania. The fortress is located on the border of Transylvania and Wallachia. Although Bran Castle is one of several places associated with the Dracula legend (along with such places as Poenari Citadel and Corvin Castle), it is considered to be the "home" of Bram Stoker's literary Dracula. It is not known whether the writer knew anything about the existence of Bran Castle, however, it has been established for certain that Vlad the Impaler (the prototype of the literary Dracula) really stayed in this castle.
Today the castle is open to tourists. The rooms of the castle show furniture and furnishings from the time of Queen Mary (her descendants still own the castle). Also, on the territory of the castle is the "museum of the village" of Romania.
The castle is open on Monday from 12.00 to 19.00, Tuesday-Saturday from 9.00 to 19.00.
The last visitors to the museum at 18.00.
