"Portugal, Estoril, Vila Gale Estoril"
I have never written any reviews in my life, but something prompted me to write a review about a vacation that ended not so long ago. Rested in August 2010.
Hotel Vila Gale Estoril - I can’t call it a solid four, but the hotel is not even bad! And the location is just super. It takes 2 minutes to walk to Tamaritz beach, the same amount to the railway station, which is located right next to the beach. , quiet and calm at night. There is also a disco on the beach. The entrance is 10 euros, but they give out counter-marks that can be exchanged for drinks at the bar. The DJ is there, of course, the one else....but oh well.
Taxi ride to Cascais takes 5 minutes (4-5 euros). From other hotels, it takes longer to get to the train and to the beach. By train, 40 minutes to Lisbon.
I really liked the climate. During the day the air temperature is 33-35 degrees, and in the evening 23-25. It's great to walk, not hot! The ocean is cool!! ! When we arrived the water temperature was 17 degrees!! ! Such a contrast - +35 air and -17 ocean!! ! I went into the water, I almost died))) After 2 days, the water became warmer - 20 degrees. There are a lot of people on the beach on any day of the week. Like in Soviet times at our resorts. People lie on towels, on the sand. A lot of black people. We took 2 sun loungers and one beach umbrella. (12.5 euros per day - there are no problems with places).
When I was going to go to Portugal, I also read about Portuguese cuisine. It was written on all sites that it was very "delicious")))
In fact, all restaurants have the same menu. Everyone has the same. Edible of course, but this is not Italy or France! In Lisbon, the situation is better. Salads cannot even be called salads. They should try Caesar from the cheapest Moscow restaurant! The meat is so-so, a C grade with a minus. Shrimps, lobsters, etc. - are cheap. Fresh seafood is very difficult to spoil, so I recommend eating only them. The vaunted Bacalau is a common cod. Different cooking methods. Nothing special. Believe me, I'm not trying to show off, but the local chefs have no mind or imagination. Italians were sitting nearby. Their expression was confused when they brought the risotto. There is a good restaurant! It's called Four Seasons. You need to book in advance. That's where everything is ok. Attentive waiters, good cooks. Located in the Palacio Hotel, half a minute walk from Vila Gale.
A little about the casino - "the largest in Europe"! The building is big, but there are only 2 tables for Black Jack and 2 tables for roulette. Drinks are paid. (In serious casinos, players are poured for free). But all this is nonsense, we are on vacation. Played for 5 days.
In Cascais, of course, it is livelier than in Estoril, but there are problems with the beaches. Estoril has the best beach, and Cascais is 15 minutes on foot or 5 euros by taxi.
In general, if you are going to Estoril or Cascais, I advise you to stay at Vila Gale Estoril. Ideal location.
The people are very kind and cheerful.
Bottom line: We had a good rest. I give the hotel a fat 4. Beach 4. Restaurants 2.
